Hello All,

I am just finishing up reading SOGR for the second time. There is a lot of good information in there. I think Mr. Wattle has truly discovered the path to riches.

My question is this…I have read through a lot of the posts on here and even went back and perused the archives. What I find interesting is there are not very many stories of people becoming rich.

There are some great stories told about people having positive experiences and I think that is fantastic, but that is not the point of the book. I am sure that a majority of us had many positive experiences prior to reading the book, but none of us were rich [I am using the word rich as Mr. Wattle uses it. Meaning money, financial gain, an increase of net worth, etc.]. What I want to read about is how someone went from being in the lower, or even middle income tax bracket, to the upper income tax bracket because of the lessons they learned from reading the book.

Mr. Wattle himself says in the book that if even one person applies the principles in the book and fails to get rich then you know what he is teaching is false. Now I am not claiming what he is teaching is false, but I would love to hear some personal stories of how the book changed a persons net worth.

I look forward to hearing your replies and hopefully your personal triumphs. Please do not refer me to the archives unless it is to a specific story of a person becoming wealthy due to the application of SOGR's principles. I want to hear your personal stories of increased wealth.

Thank you and God Bless.

Ah, Kristian, just because you haven't yet found them doesn't mean they aren't there, of course. There are tens of thousands of posts and there are MANY, MANY such success stories here.

A computer will only search for the exact combination of letters you enter as a search term, so you'll just need to be more creative in imagining how someone might have expressed him- or herself.

And why not refer you to posts that are already here? You're asking others to do your "homework" for you, and if someone has already posted his or her stories, it's not really reasonable to expect them to do that again.

Lastly, you said that that "positive experiences" aren't the point of the book. Well, that's not exactly true. Reread the beginning of the book and see how Mr. Wattles points out the REASONS for being "rich." One person's definition is different from another's and all are valid (as well as the fact that we are from 140+ different countries with varying economies and cultures, so raw numbers are less meaningful in that framework).

If anyone thinks this book is NOT about financial wealth, I believe that person has missed the point. If anyone thinks this book is ONLY about financial wealth, I believe that person has also missed the point.

Love & blessings, and, of course--
EXPECT Success!

Hi Kristian

Thanks Rebecca it saved me typing all the usual guff.
Kristian I get fed up with putting myself up as an example to the successes of SOGR. All wealth is relevant and many people who have gained financial success move on. I however have come back to redo the course NOT because of any failings in my financial position but because it makes me feel good.
If a financial success will make things better for you I can report that my wealth since SOGR has increased quicker than ever before and as a direct result of SOGR my nett wealth increased last financial year in excess of one million dollars.
If only one person makes this work its proof that it works.
The trouble with people like you Kristian is that you are not prepared to do the work. SOGR is NOT easy to follow to the letter. What I suggest you do is consciously commit to making it work for you and then come back and report your findings. As Rebecca says in your post you even try to get us to do your work.
If the purpose of your posting was an attempt to derail the people on this forum, let me tell you that you are in the wrong place.
I sincerely hope that you will follow the instructions and then post some of YOUR sucesses

Croz,

Getting a little hostile there. Settle down my friend. I did not put up the post in hopes of derailing people on the forum. And I do not appreciate how you are quick to judge "people like me". I do not think getting rich is easy nor did I allude to the fact that I thought it would be. I know that it is hard work. I understand that following the principles taught by Mr. Wattle will take much effort.

All I was asking for was anecdotes. It was nice to see that you wrote your net worth has increased by a million dollars over the last year due in part to your application of the principles found in SOGR. Those are the kinds of stories I was asking for. Is that so wrong?

I do not intend at all to be hostile. I get along pretty much with everybody I meet. I was also blessed with a natural positive personality. I just thought it curious that a majority of the posts that I have read on here had nothing to do with the increasing of ones wealth. So I asked what I thought was a simple question. Part of learning and understanding is asking questions.

I am sure there are other great stories like yours out there. I want to hear those stories. Read them. Be inspired by them. Appreciate them. Learn from them.

I know that Mr. Wattles book is about more than just increasing ones riches. It is teaching a lifestyle. But in the end the overarching message of the book is if you do XY&Z you will get rich. Not if you do XY&Z you will be happier or get a little extra money at the end of the month. So this is why I asked for real life examples. I apologize for being curious, but please do not pre-judge me, my motives, and my work ethic.

I had some time between things I was doing so I thought I'd have a look myself at what's available in the archived posts. I spent about 15 minutes and then added some notes from my own email just showing a wide range of successes. This is only the tip of a VERY large icebox, so I encourage anyone who wants to know more, to do their own digging here.

"Rebecca, thank you for all that you're doing. I could send a long story/testimonial, yet I'll keep it short.

"By employing the principles of Wattles' book, I've not only increased my income 300 percent in my traditional business as a security consultant from November 2003 to January 2004, but my networking business has done even more amazing growth than I could have ever, ever imagined."

"I just wanted to say THANK YOU!! I downloaded The Science of Getting Rich one week ago and was amazed to discover that I understood it -- something definitely 'clicked.'

"I decided to apply the method, and to my surprise, I received a promotion at work today. With that promotion, I'll be getting an extra $500 a month.

"Coincidence? Definitely not. THANK YOU!!"

LOBO:

My little story: five years ago, I was living in New York City, my life was pretty unfulfilling had trouble with my marriage never had a good job, had more than $10,000 on credit card debt, lived in an apartment were I could get no sleep due to the neighbors constant music playing, well my life truly sucked, my only joyful moments were, when I went camping and back packing.

I always loved nature and my dream was to have house and some land in the countryside.

These dream of mine at that time seamed impossible to ever come to be, if I ever mentioned to family or friends they laughed and told me be realistic how are you going to be able to live up there and with what money etc etc.

Well one day after contemplating my situation and realized that this was not the way to live a book fell into my hands with the teachings of SOGR, and I said what do I have to loose I tried every thing else.

I told no one of my treatment, every night I will spend some time imagining living in my log cabin, happy gazing at the stars, gardening, I did not dwell in how it will come to be (very important) I let God, the Universe or what ever you want to call it take care of it, I just lived it in my imagination never doubting it will come one day.

Well I did this for a year, and things strangely started to change first some how I saved enough money to pay all my credit cards plus my wife's, thus ended my debt.

After that, savings started to accumulated in my back account to the point that I had enough for considering to look for property, (all this with out sacrificing any thing) I brought the proposal to my wife, she was a bit skeptical, but I guess the strength of my faith over came her, every time she will say how are we going to work up there (I had no Idea) I told her don’t worry things are in motion already don’t worry.

Well I found a property with all the things I wanted, a pond 30 acres of woods and fields away from every one and yes a log cabin in perfect condition, the moment I saw it I knew it was the one.

Every one advised me to do things ... Like mortgaging this or that, I only listen to my inner voice so I paid half the house up front almost all my money (my goal was not to have debts).

I told my boss that I was moving upstate NY and that I could still work from home if he wanted (sales) amazingly he agreed.

Then I told my wife to confront her boss and tell them the advantage that they will get if she worked from home (corporate travel agent) she thought I was crazy no one in her job ever worked like that, I said what do you have to loose.

That day she came back and said in disbelief they agreed, needless to say she never question any of my crazy ideas again.

To tell you the truth sometimes I still don’t believe it.

Well to make the story short In less than 2 years I finish paying of the house (I am 36 and completely debt free) I have a nice savings in my bank account that allows me to sleep very good, and my life has made a 180 degree change for the better, plus I have a lot more free time to do things I truly wanted.

And all this, applying these simple teachings.

I hope I did not bore you with my tell, and if you are still doubting this will some how give you some inspiration to continue.

I will also like to thanks to the people involved in this web site getting this message out there, you are doing a grate service to your fellow human.

And if any one has any question to asked about my experience, feel free to do so.

PS: I apologize for my grammar, English is my second language.

Dear Rebecca,

I just wanted you to know that I was introduced to your website and Mr. Wattles' book, The Science of Getting Rich, earlier this year.

While I've spent most of my teen and adult life reading success-minded books, I needed the extra kick in the tail to get out of my self-imposed comfort zone. I'd been working in a dead end job for well over three years, in spite of the fact that I had started several businesses in the past, even as far back as my junior year in high school.

However, because I'd either been unsuccessful or had allowed myself to be taken out of the game by those I was in business with, I had settled into the deepest rut of my young life.

The best thing going for me was that I was
sick and tired of my situation.

My self-imposed problem was that I wasn't yet willing to step out and start my next business. I was too busy focusing on the day-to-day problems at my job, instead of the opportunities in front of me.

In mid-April it all became crystal clear when the multi-billion dollar, publicly-traded company that owned my restaurant decided to shut it down and only gave us two weeks' notice.

I took it as the blessing in disguise (read
"kick in the pants") that I needed all along.

I decided that instead of waiting until "sometime," NOW was the time to start the business that I'd been dreaming of for over six months. So I decided to widen the access to the investment research that I was already providing my own mom, and in order to give it a certain cachet I called it "Investing With Mom," since that is exactly what I'm doing.

While I'm getting my feet wet and until I've got just a little more experience under my belt, I'm offering access to my newsletter absolutely free. You are perfectly welcome to browse my brand-new website at

--> http://www.investingwithmom.com

and I would be most honored if you were to sign up for my newsletter.

Thank you for the advice, inspiration and occasional kick in the pants. ;-)

Dear Rebecca:

This is what is happening for me, and I'll just give a few highlights:

My multimillionaire entrepreneur neighbor wants me to go into business with him in a startup he's been "dying to do."

I made contact with a prominent writer/entrepreneur (who is worth $12-15 million) and am doing a project for him. He actually came to me and called me, and I will be meeting him this fall.

A doctor friend came to me and insisted I let him invest in one of my projects. This has never happened to before in 20 years of entrepreneuring. I hadn't even mentioned looking for money to him in any way.

I had a wonderful "chance" meeting with a man who is starting up a new division for a large corporation, and he needs and will be buying exactly what I want to provide.

People call me with work or projects weekly, some of which I turn down. Some I take on.

Now, I must say that I had nothing going on for the last two years -- couldn't get anything going, and wasn't making any money at all. Not for not trying either. This stuff works, and works powerfully. And I haven't even got my "picture" that clear yet! All this has come in just a few months, and the momentum is still building.

There's more, but you get the idea. Everything has changed, as I have changed, and I'm just getting started. Personally, I believe Wattles has simply focused and clarifed the Way God intended for things to be done here. And that Way works, and it works for the good of all.

Thanks, and keep going!

Dear Rebecca,

We corresponded several years ago. My story has evolved since then in a way that is so consistent with Wattles's Science of Getting Rich. The bottom line is that it works.

My circumstances were beyond dire on all fronts. That has changed for an immense upside and betterment, and hoped for tranactions failed for the right reasons -- to open the way for a better realization.

Wattles writes to not think about the bad experiences of the past. I agree. However, the range from bad to great is good for inspiration and motivation. Accordingly, I will give you a little history, which I will interpret as positive as the ultimate result is what is important, and that is shaping up to be very rewarding ...

I would like for this to be shared but to be anonymous.

In the past year, I have gone from no revenue
in sight to having $150 million in real
estate projects in the mill, with $116
million of that as a co-principal.

This was accomplished with my being flat broke, a career's worth of built-up reputation destroyed, former partners working against me, my personal and business credit destroyed, enduring multiple (I mean many) law suits, and being separated from my family which was re-united prior to the upturn ... It's an endurance contest, which is shortened by adhering to Wattles' principles.

I really love this. Thank you for your efforts in making this power available to so many for so little. I hope you are abundantly blessed throughout eternity for having done what you have graciously done.

MYLES in Los Angeles, California, USA:

I was about to go to Italy with my wife, my brother, my mother and my nephew. This was a vacation which was planned for a while. My brother was taking all of us and using his miles for our plane tickets and he had paid for the villa we were staying in.

And because my brother is incredibly generous, as I'm sure you can already see, I knew that he was going to pay for our meals and any thing we wanted.

Still, I had no money in the bank and bills were going to come due while my wife and I were gone and we really were tight in terms of being able to pay them. Not to mention the fact that I didn't want to have my brother pay for everything, and since we were going to be in Italy I wanted to have some money so my wife would be able to buy some things she wanted.

I wanted money to be able to enjoy this trip and to make sure that my wife had a great time (which, of course, would make me very happy too.)

So about a month before the trip I started really applying SOGR. I was doing the [Practical Geniuses TM] course, and reading passages of the book every day. I was writing six things down at night that I was grateful for.

And I held to the vision of us having lots of money, paying off our bills, buying my wife clothes in Italy, etc.

I saw myself opening our mailbox and getting a huge check. But most important, I FELT that FEELING of calm that comes when you've paid all your bills. And I FELT that FEELING of excitement when you have the ability to buy some things you want.

I also set out to sell one of our two cars as a sure way to raise the money. I saw myself selling the car to a happy individual. And again, I FELT that FEELING of calm I get when I have a lot of money at my disposal.

To make a long story short -- which I know is impossible at this point! -- I worked hard to sell the car. Calling people, putting ads out everywhere.

Anyway, a few days before my trip I still didn't have any money. But I knew deep down I'd be OK.

Then ...

I got a refund from a health insurance claim.

Out of nowhere, a friend left me a check just as a gift so that I could show my wife a good time in Italy.

And I called the IRS and got word that my tax refund would come just after I left for Italy, so I left a bank deposit slip with a friend and the key to my mailbox so they could get the check and deposit it.

And the day before I left, a woman stopped me on the street and said she saw the "For Sale" sign in the car I was driving and it was perfect for her boyfriend.

... The guy ended up buying the car the second day I was in Italy, and my friend put the money in my bank account.

Who says the Universe doesn't have a sense of humor -- waiting for the last minute to answer my prayers?!

involved in an MLM company called Neways International. Up until
doing the course I was struggling to get new prospects. Now I

"My wife Sarah (who is also doing the course) had a job offer
from out of nowhere. We bumped into an old aquaintance in the
most unusual spot, and in jest I asked him if he had a job for
Sarah ... and he said YES!!

better.

All in all I have been studying SOGR for at least a year now. When I first read the book I had an instant rapport with Mr Wattles writings. I was really ready for this ... I can honestly say that my life has changed, definitely for the better. I have so many stories, but this posting would go on forever, so I will write a couple.

My husband and I wanted to purchase a rental property. We searched locally for a very long time and just couldn't find what we were looking for. After doing one of the "LifeLabs" [Note: Part of The Science of Getting Rich for Practical GeniusesTM online course], I realised we were not being specific about what we wanted.

So we sat down and wrote a list of exactly what it was that we wanted in our rental property (e.g., location, size, cost, extras -- lockup garage room for parking second car or caravan and so on).

Within a week the property presented itself to us, we knew instantly and put in an offer which was accepted straight away!

A few months later we wanted to do a rejuvenation on a property. Again we wrote a list of what we wanted (specifically as we could). That weekend we went out looking. We saw a few houses, then at one of the properties the salesperson says "This house would be a good investment. With a makeover the property would be worth $XX."

We thought this very strange (real estate agents had never said this to us before). We did our figures and checked houses selling in the street and local area and this house was perfect. (It was like a sign.) We purchased the property and did the makeover, all done before settlement day. We then put the property on the market to sell. We had a target of three months.

At two and a half months the property still had not sold. I could not believe it. I had so much faith in SOGR. I was a little panicky, but I held that faith. I just knew things would work out. We had always said that if the property had not sold at three months we would put tenants in. So we advertised for tenants.

The first people through signed up to move in.

Then out of the blue an investor put in a offer to buy -- if we could prove that we had a tenant signed up for 12 months! It was a win-win-win situation for everyone.

For me personally, for quite some time I have wanted to have a home-based business. I want to be there after school, holidays, etc. for my son. It was a little hard for me to be specific in this one. However I wanted to work from home, use my computer and help others in some way.

One of my mentors has a successful home-based internet business. I always looked forward to reading his ezine. One day he wrote that he knew there were people out there who wanted to start a home-based business and didn't know where to start. He and his partner wanted to help someone, to work one-on-one to do this.

I could hardly believe what I was reading. This was exactly what I was looking for -- I wanted this opportunity.

I feel soooo very blessed to be the one that they picked, and I am currently doing a lot of study and hard work to set up my own home-based internet business. This is not a "get rich quick" sort of thing, but it is a work hard, persist and get rich in the long term thing.

I'm not writing all this to brag, but only to share with you that in my opinion, doing the SOGR course has changed my life ... For me it has not been a fast overnight change but a slow change, continually changing and improving.

I never go to sleep at night without thinking about at least six things that I am grateful for that day. It can be anything -- a phone call, a friend, even the traffic lights that bring such order to our roads ...

The life we all have is truly wonderful and a blessing, and prosperity and wealth is for all of us ... I hope that I have helped someone today.

--JULIE in Perth, Western Australia, Australia

PS: I feel that some of you reading this will think that we are already in a good financial position. We are just an ordinary family. We decided three years ago that we wanted to get ahead. We stopped spending and trying to have what everyone else around us has. We have a very old car, second-hand everything. But we worked slowly on paying off debts (other than mortgage). We were in this mindset when I came across the SOGR book -- that is why I say that it came at a good time.

Opportunities are now presenting themselves to us in the form of people, information, etc., and this has helped us to make decisions that have changed our lives in so many ways. It has not been easy, but when you have absolute faith then it is so much easier to take a chance ...

What I'm trying to say is some of you want overnight riches and if it doesn't happen straight away you may start thinking that this doesn't work. It's working for me and I know that it will work for you to at the appropriate pace. Wishing for you success, prosperity and true happiness.

What would you attempt to do today if you knew it were impossible to fail?

This question, perhaps first raised by Dorothea Brande in her 1932 bestseller, Wake Up and Live!, and raised again in my life recently by Rebecca Fine, caused me to begin searching for an answer to the question.

A talk radio show was my first answer. So, I'm happy to report that just six weeks later, the first broadcast of "The Mike & Bill Show" was a success!

(By the way, I knew it would be!) This two-hour weekly Saturday evening show (6-8 PM EST) is meant to entertain and help encourage people to face their challenges. My thanks to WOKV 690 AM in Jacksonville for clearing out a two-hour time slot for us on Saturday evening.

I'm already impressing my clear mental image of national syndication on the formless substance!!!

I thought I’d share a small incident with all of you -- a small SOGR success story you could say.

I’ve been wanting a printer for a while now, and I thought it was a good time to prove SOGR to myself. So I right away started visualizing one. It wasn’t the clearest of visions, but I knew I wanted a printer. I also went to a couple of computer stores, checked out the models, prices, etc., and even read a lot of reviews on the 'net (ACTION, as Wally puts it).

After finally deciding on EXACTLY what I wanted (and I decided on a high end model even though I personally couldn’t really afford it), I decided to ask my sister for the printer. She said no straight out, and to be honest I stopped visualizing after that.

But after a couple of weeks my cousin called
me up and ... said [a new printer] would save
a lot of time and money for our business --
it’s a family business; we run a restaurant
-- and he told me to give him the model
number and that he would get the printer for
me (!).

A week after that I got a new printer. It wasn’t the one I had visualized. It was something way more better. It was an all-in-one. My sister-in-law convinced my sister somehow to buy an all-in-one. I still don’t know why she did that. The printer was as good as the one I had visualized, but it also had with it a scanner and copier.

Talk about abundance!

Was it a coincidence? I don’t think so.

JOANNE in Franklin, Indiana, USA:

I read The Science of Getting Rich around the 1st of February, 2004. I followed the book, using vision, faith and action.

I am a small business owner, and around the 10th of February I noticed I would need approximately $3,000 by the 4th of March to keep the doors open; the money was nowhere to be found.

I used my vision to see myself writing the check and the money being in the account, and truly believed it would come with total faith. I was so confident that I never mentioned it to my husband.

On March 4th at 11:50AM my business purchasing account had been put on hold. I did begin to become concerned. At 12:10 my husband called to invite me to lunch.

We met for lunch at 12:30, my stomach in knots thinking I am going to have to close the doors of my business. He told me he sold our old car for $4,400.  I told him about the account and he handed me $3,100.

I wrote the check and am still in a business I love. IT WORKS!!!! THANK YOU!!!!

Thank you for bringing The Science of Getting Rich to my life.

JAIN writes:

I have been studying SOGR for a few months now and have had lots of nice little surprises. But I got a big one a few weeks ago which taught me a lot.

I am a mad keen horse person and one of my dreams was to own a horse for trail riding. I orignally thought about just getting a basic, cheap, scrubby little horse but then realised I might as well ask for the whole dream.

I began to think instead of riding a beautiful, tall, well trained horse. I would picture myself on this horse several times a day. I would walk along the trails that I would like to ride the horse. I visited saddleries and looked at gear that I would like to buy for my new horse.

And then it happened.

I was offered a beautiful, tall, well trained horse. He is worth a lot more than I could possible pay for him. He has a small injury that would prevent him from competing at top level, but won't in any way affect his trail riding ability and the owners just wanted him to go to a good home.

Anyway, I waffle on, but the point to this story is that I went into a mild panic when I was offered this magnificient horse. Where could I keep him, how would I look after him, how could I afford to keep him??? Because I had to make a decision about whether I wanted him in just a few hours I nearly said no.

But then I thought this is what I've asked
for, here it is and I have to accept this
gift.

And it all worked out perfectly. I found a really good place to keep him and he's turned out to be very cheap to look after. To think I nearly missed out on this wonderful horse because I wasn't ready for when it happens. Now when good things are offered to me, I accept them immediately and know that the 'hows and whys' will work themselves out.

Needless to say, every time I ride my beautiful horse I am extremely grateful!!

NEIL writes:

A client who had sometimes struggled to meet large loan repayments came to me and said “Neil, I'm 48 and want to be debt free by the time I'm 50.” My answer from my experience was that now the target had been set, the means will appear. Every time I saw this client I reaffirmed his vision.

Guess what? It did, right over from left field. Thinking back, at no stage did we supervise the creative process -- it just happened once the clear mental vision had been set.

Was he debt free by 50? No, it took an extra three months.

For me at this stage, if I had to summarise the Science of Getting Rich, it would be get the vision, maintain the gratitude and take action. I don't know if this is right, but it sure beats what I was doing before.

Cheers, and as always, Expect Success!

The fellow didn't show up for work and the rain was coming down. But David kept his cool and kept thinking in the certain way, so when the builder finally showed and offhandedly said he couldn't work the day before because he'd had to get his guitar fixed ... well, here's what happened!]

OK, so I realise that the thinking stuff has to communicate with you in some manner and there is a chance that there may be a message coming out the mouth of others. The builder tells me he is in the guitarist in the rock band and the singer is out of rehab and is now back to his best.

As I mentioned ... I've been following the teachings of Wally with no result, well obvious result. It is like the thinking stuff has forgotten about me, that Father Christmas has passed over my chimney.

I'm using SOGR to try and turn round my business, which of course is wrong. I'd forgotten that my job is to contemplate my vision, give thanks and act accordingly.

Anyway, intead of berating the builder for leaving a hole in my roof, I ask to hear a demo. He has one in his van. I listen and it is quite brilliant. Even though I am not a rock fan, I know this is incredible.

There I am sitting in my house listening to a singer who has sold three million albums, has lost all his money, is wishing to restart his career and because of my impression of increase the builder says, "Can you help us finish the album?"

An opportunity from the thinking stuff to set
me on the path to riches -- or a waste of money?

I go with the first: this is an opportunity, and if it is a waste of money then because I follow SOGR it will lead to something else.

Now to make an album cost $40,000. I do not have this, so off I go to the bank. "I would like to set up a new business to make a rock album and I need $40,000 overdraft, please."

"Please take a seat Mr. BornToFeelGood and I will just get the manager."

"Hello Mr. BTFG, I've heard you've made an unusual request," he says. I remember the impression of increase and act accordingly and don't speak. I pull out a portable CD player and play him the demo. He listens in silence and says "That's incredible. I used to be a rock musician myself when I was younger!"

So the thinking stuff has put me in front of
the only bank manager within a thousand miles
who has been in a rock band. We talk about
how we will market the CD, and he sets me up
with the overdraft.

The album is finished on time and under budget, the musicians are amazing, and the singer truly wonderful.

"THIS 'STUFF' WORKS!"

A few months ago I read for the very first time SOGR. I did what the book said and in a very short time of about two to threeweeks I landed a job which has been paying me around $3,000 a week.

Every day I visualise my outcome and final destination and I am excited as I know my dreams are becoming a reality.

Please understand there are universal laws and Spiritual laws that govern and attract the flow of wealth. And anyone who becomes aware of them and applies them to their lives are guaranteed to attract wealth.

My ex-husband left the country for a few months, saying he's getting training for a future job he'll have back here (at an unknown time in the future). I met this announcement with fear and worry that he would not keep paying child support and that I would not have enough to support myself and my daughter without it.

(Blinking warning light! Change that lack
feeling!).

I managed to turn that around consciously and wish him success and good luck and TRUST that he would meet his obligations. More importantly, I just saw myself as capable of taking care of us without his help.

(We live in Israel, and I could have easily
attained a stay order preventing him from
leaving the country when he owes child
support, but to everyone who suggested that,
I said that I wished him well wherever he
went and that I had all I needed, thank you).

He's been gone two months and no money came in for July or August. I have to admit I had some fear and resentment tied up in that fact ...

Today I got an email from him saying that a sum that more than covers what he owes from the past two months, plus September's payment would be transferred to my account tomorrow.

My first reaction was a tense stomach just at the sight of his email, and after reading it my second reaction was doubt that the money transfer would really happen. Then I caught my negative thinking/feeling and purposely and consciously turned it around.

I closed my eyes and remembered some really good times when he was supportive and kind and loving, and pictured him with our daughter whom he adores. I wrote out on paper that he is a trustworthy and honest man and that I wish him happiness and peace. I left my desk and went outside in the sunshine and found lots of things to appreciate and feel good about and tried to overlay that feeling onto the thought of his email (which contained "good news" -- it was only my reaction that had been negative.)

Then I went back in to work and forgot about it.

At 11 am (three hours after I first saw the
email) I got a call from the bank telling me
that the amount he'd mentioned plus a little
MORE had been transferred to my account --
TODAY!

Wow.

Does anyone think I might have manifested that by turning my thinking around, or that it might have been delayed or not have happened at all if I'd stayed in my fear and doubt mode?

Well, *I* think so!

Just wanted to share that with you all.

When I stumbled across The Science of Getting Rich, it came in direct response to a frustrated and desperate plea to that thinking substance (if it really existed) to help me understand what life was all about and what my specific purpose is.

Like many of us, I had read loads of self-help stuff and tried many different methods, all to no avail. And the reason they didn't work, as I now understand, is that I had no idea what I wanted.

I knew what I *didn't* want, but in answer to the burning question "If you had all the money in the world what would you do?" my mind was a complete blank. Well, not actually blank, but none of the ideas that occurred to me seemed to have any particular spark.

I am one of those people that do a number of things well, ranging from art to science so I had plenty of scope for my imagination, but no one thing really turned me on.

You know what I mean: "If I could do anything at all, what would make me want to leap out of bed every morning to get back at it?"

The answer seemed to elude me completely. More frustration, more guilt, more thinking I must be stupid or weird or something.

Much envy toward those people that had "always" wanted to be a doctor or an artist or a teacher or a nurse. I am sure you know exactly what I am talking about here.

So what happened? Well perhaps I could show you rather than try and explain it.

After reading SOGR every day for the first month and referring back to it constantly during each of those days here is what I did.

1. I accepted that it was OK not to know.

2. I made my vision all about seeing myself discovering my true purpose and I experienced it as fully and with as much feeling as I could manage in my imagination.

3. I decided that the key was having "faith" but until I met Rebecca and Wally D. I was completely unaware that one can develop faith through "gratitude." So I got very grateful -- for everything I could think of every night before I slept, each morning when I got up, and every time I thought of it every day.

4. I memorized the credo at the end of the SOGR (Chapter 17) -- meaning that every night I would try to say aloud a little bit more without looking at the printed copy by my bed until finally I could say the whole thing from memory.

5. I got to work -- meaning that I did every task I needed to accomplish each day with as much focused effort and as efficiently and perfectly as I wanted everything in my new life to be.

6. I tried at every opportunity to share the advancing thought with everyone I met during each day whether via email, by telephone or the waitress in the coffee shop: I smiled a lot more and tried to make everyone else around me feel good in some way, and I remembered to be grateful for it all.

Here is what happened:

1) Doubled my income -- a direct result of my right action.

2) Formed a new company doing what I really love to do -- a result of having my true purpose made clear. This took just over a year.

3) Formed an ebook publication partnership -- because I needed to help others achieve success online and had the knowledge to share. And again, right action: I actually wrote a book on it, and

4) I developed a personal friendship with a fellow Sogger (SOGR enthusiast) from which we have created and are building another business that helps others grow and change ...

Not bad for someone who just over a year ago was wallowing around in self-pity and confusion and totally unhappy and frustrated with my life in general and myself in particular.

I am an avid pilot, and love to fly aerobatics in our beautiful blue skies above Perth where I live. But the $180 per hour needed has stopped me for a long while as I focused on "making money" so I could fly.

After doing the first half of this [SOGR for Practical GeniusesTM] course, I decided that what I REALLY wanted to do was FLY, NOT earn the money to fly. So I focused my vision on flying.

In the past three weeks I have flown three hours at NO COST to me. Others have been happy to pay for the hire of the aircraft for me to take them for a flight.

Go for what you want -- money is only good for the experiences it helps you achieve.

GACHANJA KAMAU:

I discovered the ebook through another newsletter. Immediately after, I fell into very hard times. Let's just say that I did not put Wattles' teachings into practice right away.

After agonizing for months and getting deep into debts that I just had no way of re-paying, I decided to "try" Wattles' teachings.

To cut a long story short, let's just say that I am now re-paying my debts and I have a positive balance in my bank account. I am not yet rich but I am confident that I am getting there. I have purchased the audio tapes of the book so I can "read" while driving.

Yes. The system really does work.

KEITH writes:

My success -- I landed a new job in the same field I have worked in the past nine years, but it's a more interesting job and about 33% higher paying than I had been making. This is a very nice improvement for me. I have been one of these people who had no idea "what they want to do when they grow up", and honestly I still don't know.

But I used a principle in the book to always put your best effort forward and to make the best of your existing circumstances. This job interview was "different" than others. Instead of "trying" to convince the employer of my worthiness, I knowingly went in putting out my best effort possible (like the book says).

The interview went great. I was interviewed by two supervisors and one followed me out into the parking lot, talking to me and saying he really wanted to hire me. This has raised my income 33% with a likable boss and a pretty likable job.

One other thing that hit me like a ton of bricks yesterday is the "Principle of Increase." That people want to increase everything in their lives whether they really realize it or not. It explains a lot about life in general. If you are a benefit to others and they can see that, they will be attracted to you. (I don't say this for selfish reasons, but a learning one and the "right way" to be in any relationship -- business or personal.)

Be a positive benefit to others and we should attract others, be a negative and people will likely stay away.

Thanks to Rebecca and the web site for being here.

Actually Croz didn't say "due in part." He said "as a direct result of." An important distinction, I think.

Now let's all remember that whatever image we are holding for or of or toward someone else we are actually impressing for ourselves.

Rebecca,

Thank you so much for your post. I really appreciate it. Apparently I must have been looking in the wrong place in the achieves.

Thank you for digging those up. They are fantastic.

I in now way intended to offend any one on here. I was merely asking for examples.

Those are incredible results indeed. It is great to see and hear stories like that. I do have faith that by applying the principles taught by Mr. Wattle one will find the success and riches on wants. By seeing other achieve the same results you desire it helps to impress upon your mind the power behind Mr. Wattles words.

I think it would be nice to have a section on the web site or on the forum that simply covers peoples success stories. I mean the examples that you gave are fantastic. What a powerful tool it would be for people to be able to just click a link that directs them to all of those stories.

Thank you again. It has been a great help and an inspiration. I will make sure to post my own success story as it happens.

Keep making a positive difference.

Hi Kristian

A word of advice it does not matter how many people become rich by using SOGR if you do not do the hard yard you will not succeed.
As I have said before just because you have the same build and physical attributes of say Ian Thorpe does this mean you can automatically become a world champion swimmer. Definitely not! Without the mental and physical devotion you will get nowhere. Did Ian Thorpe say when he started show me some other people who are like me who have become world champions to give me inspiration, I don't think so. He just said I am going to do it and focused on his own dream[vision] What other people achieve should have no affect on your vision at all. My own thoughts are that if you focus too much on other peoples successes it makes your job harder because you tend to start judging yourself and become competitive and in some cases disillussioned because you feel that you may be doing something wrong if you do not equal their successes.
My advice is to start the journey just judging yourself because you are in complete control of that.I personally don't feel that it is necessary to put monetary values on this forum as $100 is a fortune to some people and to others it is loose change. This then becomes very confusing because of the great variance of values.
This teaching works but only if you do EXACTLY as it says, I have not had an easy ride as a search of my past postings will show you, read the one on forgiveness!
Well matey after a bit of a false start I wish you luck and hope to read some marvellous posts from you in the near future.

Hi Krisjhn,
I wasn't going to respond to this post, as I thought Rebecca and Croz had answered very well, and anyway, what I am doing is no-one else's affair...(negative, negative...) then I recalled how others' experiences helped convince me to try SOGR too. So as I feel it's payback time, here's my tuppence-ha'pennyworth:

You remember the Bible story of the disciples fishing all night and catching nothing, then when Jesus told them to let down their nets they caught so many fish their net broke?

That is a bit like me since I started SOGR - a huge increase in work and fee income so that my monthly income has at least tripled, and still growing.

However, I am finding keeping up with the work a really hard slog, (it's not that I'm not grateful, you just have to be careful for what you wish for, as it will come true; I wanted more work and boy, have I got it). As a lawyer I am also finding the constant deadlines wearing and the contentious aspects of the work less congenial - (too competetive in the SOGR sense). SOGR helps you evaluate what you want to do in life and to get rich from that. 'Work' need not mean 'hard grind'. My wife works in the field of mental health legal work - she too has become increasingly busy, and her income has again at least doubled, (she now earns very part time what she made full time), but finds the increased exposure to the mentally unwell sometimes upsetting. (She attends maximum security mental hospitals where some of her clients have been convicted of extremely nasty crimes).

As a result my wife and I are branching out into two new businesses that will depend much less on our putting all the hours the Gods send into them. Both of them came about unexpectedly, but we spotted them because we were thinking in the Certain Way. I have faith these will do very well indeed so long as we continue to work in the Certain Way - after all, SOGR has worked for us up till now, so why not again?
O

Knowing what to do will not change us, as we will only change when we DO what we KNOW.

Optimst,

Thank you for your post. Very fantastic. Congrats on your success. It is wonderful to hear stories like yours. Very inspirational.

I know that with the additional wealth comes additional work and responsibility. I hope that you and your wife will be able to find a balance that works best for you. I am positive you will.

Croz,

I am sure you are a good guy. A great Aussie. My mum is an Aussie. She is from NSW. Specifically Broken Hill.

I wanted to respond to your Ian Thorpe comparison. I think you err in that comparison. Yes Ian is a fantastic swimmer... and proving it once again this Olympics. Let me quote you real quick.

quote:
Did Ian Thorpe say when he started show me some other people who are like me who have become world champions to give me inspiration, I don't think so.

I am almost 100% sure that if you ask Ian who inspires him he will be able to name a few people. If you ask him if he ever looked up to swimmers who came before him he would say yes. I will bet you he gets inspired by hearing of others peoples success.

Does he base his desire to achieve off of others peoples success. No I would not say that. But is he inspired by others success. Sure he is.

And that is all I am asking. To hear of others success. I am not basing my desire to achieve off of others success. I just want to be inspired by it. As I had not seen any stories on here that inspired me I asked for some. Simple as that.

Now as I expressed in a personal post to you will you let this go. If you have a problem with me then post me directly. Please do not air your frustrations out in public. It inspires no one.

Dear Kristian,

Thank you for your post.

I also love to hear about other peoples success stories. In fact I have bookshelfs of people who have overcome adversity and created success for themselves.

Stories of success and miracles are used in many spiritual teachings, including the bible.
All great teachers and speakers use stories to teach.

Stories have a purpose. Stories can help us see something in a different way that perhaps we missed in our learning. They can teach us about unlimited possiblity and they can take us into a world of imagination and creativity. Stories of success can transform us and teach us how much we are all alike.

We can use stories to help us invite our good and keep us inspired.

A good story can uplift us if we are feeling down for a moment. In fact, many people who can't see there way out of life's difficulties can use stories to help them begin to see another way until they can see it for themselves.

What I have learned from Reading sogr and many other wonderful works of art is that whatever we notice, whatever we talk about, whatever we identify with in our thoughts, we are inviting into our life.

Here is food for thought:

The written and spoken word is our gift of prophecy. As we change and share our words, we change our world. As we improve our words, we improve our world. As we transform our words, we transform our world.

So keep the stories coming everyone so that we can learn from people and inspire others at the same time.

As you teach so shall you learn. As you learn so shall you teach. (the cirlce of life)

Appreciation from the heart,

Richard
appfromtheheart@aol.com

P.S. As a result for my love of success stories and from what I have recieved from SOGR, I am developing two websites on success stories. One is about people who have created success in mlm and how they achieved that. T

The other is about people who are using their lives to fullfill their dreams and make a difference at the same time.

p.s.s. So anyone out there who has a success story or even a short quote or comment about their success and would like to write a story or be interviewed about their successes, please email me at appfromtheheart@aol.com for more information.

I thought your post was fair enough as were the responses. My thoughts are that just by being clearer on your vision and focussing on it each day will guarantee some measure of success. Most people are very weak in these areas and will find significant progress by adhering to these fundamentals. Almost all successful people are very clear on their objective and think about it alot of the time and this is part of what the program is teaching.

Thank you Phillee233 and Richard De for your words and inspiration.

Phillee233, I agree with you 100%. Having your vision as clear and detailed as you can get it is so important. I am not sure I understood how important it was until I read SOGR. Now that I now the importance of it I am in the process or writing down my goals down to the smallest detail.

Richard,

Good luck on your web sites. I think that is exciting. I am sure that you will succeed in your quest. Inspiration is one of the keys to keep people going. It is a powerful motivator.
Hopefully down the road I will be able to share my own inspirational story with you. And hopefully others will hear that story and be inspired themselves.

What a gift Rebecca,

Thank you for posting that!

Any chance - like mentioned here - that you could have a place - even on your home page for the success stories so that when new people come onto the site they are able to access those without asking for repeats?

It could also contain a pop-up or something - like for the forum possts where one can type up a success story - that mayb comes to you for moderation before being posted.

Love and light to you,

Hi All,

One of my AHA moments came when I decided to get rid of some clutter around the house. The saying......"Nature Abhors A Vacuum" is very true.

As my wife and I have been ridding the house and yard of clutter, the clutter has been replaced with some of the items that we have in our vision. And we have just begun!! When this happens, we just look at each other with a "knowing look." Now, when we dispose of something, we look at each other and say "Be Prepared", something is on the way to replace it!

I think that this removing of clutter from our lives is a great "first step." It provides a feeling of accomplishment and, believe it or not, it has helped to unclutter my thinking in the process.

Just a small success, or is it (small?)

Much abundance to all,
Tom

Much abundance to all,

Hi,

As a new member I totally support Krisjn, I too have been through as many old post as I could and could not really find many who said that they had become rich.

It is not that we are too lazy to do it for ourselves (how could you do it for us anyway). It is very inspiring and motivating to read of other's success, in fact usually the advice given in books is to associate with succesful people.

I am an Ozzie so I do not understand the Ian Thorpe reference, he did not do it on his own, he has coaches, sports psychologist and a team of people to support him - not a forum, and yes he does have to have the motivation and skill and determination to succeed.

Perhaps from time to time there could be a mention of someone who has become rich by using the Certain Way.

One thousand blessings to all

I appreciate the reply made by Cas as she had the guts to key a reply in a manner I did not out of anxiety. This has troubled me as it meant I am coaching my words, which I have not liked. After all this course boosts ones confidence and I was stuck at the first hurdle by opinions. I need to say that I am grateful that Robynne/Optimist/Richard De Haven/Phillee233 ... well actually quite a few folk yet I only saw what halted me. Old habits hey! Ones needs to dig deeper than the surface and ride past a negative.
Thank you all.

Thank you Rebecca for the success stories, it made my heart sing to read them, I gave up being jealous of other people's success many years ago, I now know if others have achieved so can I and I rejoice in what they have achieved and want it for everyone.

I thought that Natalie's idea's were brilliant and may avoid other new people feel like slinking off with their tail between their legs.

Good luck with your web page Richard I look forward to reading it and know that it will be be very inspiring and energising to everyone who reads it.

If things arent going right, reality doesnt seem to be changing or appears to be getting worse it is very motivating to read what others have achieved and it can give one the belief that the obstacles will fade away when moving towards them in a "Certain Way". The easier that one can access the stories the quicker the feeling of desperation and hopelessness may change and maybe just the lifeline the person needs.

I personally do not find talking in $ crass or boasting.

Love and Blessings

You know, I do truly get inspired by hearing success stories - in fact most positive uplifting ones...

Like:
Oprah
Wayne Dyer
Robert Kiyosaki...

And what I get is: if they can, I can!

It truly ignites me into seeing things in an illuminated light, whereby I get excited and see opportunities opening for me.

The succeses big and small are so important. They light me and pass on the torch.

I am VERY grateful for these success stories you've posted.

And you know - what you focus on expands - so if someone new every week comes and asks "any successes out there", it's a delight to share the success - and so like attract like and we attract MORE success.

Doesn't Wally say that the way to help the poor is through being an example of RICH!

Off my soap box, and back to work!

Love and light to you,
