Awareness of thought is more than half the battle,
as you cannot continue to do something that is not
good for you AND do it consciously. On the other hand, you can do something that is not serving you over and over, for an entire
lifetime even, as long as you continue to do it unconsciously. This means that as you become more aware, what keeps you from happiness
and inner peace falls away all by itself.

Thank you Rebecca for this course....which brings a new way of thinking along with becoming aware of the old!

Thank you fellow class mates for sharing your thoughts and discoveries( I really liked the previous post which spoke of the MATRIX and the feeling "something" was wrong or missing).
Each time I read a post that speaks of becoming aware of habitual thinking that produces unwanted results I know that person (and others including myself ) are coming closer to the truth. AWARENESS
is the KEY....the START of a new life !

YOUR THOUGHTS?

This course is changing me day by day. People around me don’t know what to think of this new me. I have not told anyone other than my daughters that I am taking this course and of course, everyone is trying to figure out what up with me.

I have always been nice, but I guess there is a noticeable difference. I have noticed that I am not as stresses, and I am happier, because I know that everything will be OK because God and the Universe will take care of it. I wouldn’t change anything in my life right now. I am having a great time learning this stuff, this thinking stuff.

Lets think together. Together we can make a difference.

Thanks for sharing about awareness. I heard from another source that we operate as though we are still asleep. Well, since I met Mr. Wattles and Rebecca - I have had my wakeup calls. I am becoming more aware every day and am practicing looking for places where I am on "automatic". I am living my life fully awake and aware of everything I think, see and do.
You all help so much by helping to remind, refresh and reframe things in so many ways. Thank you all, my fellow classmates, you are the cream of the crop.
Waking Up To Abundance,
Juanita

I've been slowly grasping this concept from many different perspectives. One which helped make this concept clear to me was from a body awareness system called Alexander Technique. In the technique, you first learn to become aware of where your tensions are. Second, you learn to "stop!" everything, and simply inhibit your old pattern from taking place. This, oddly, was the hardest step, but proved to be necessary if the last and most important step were to work. Finally, you replace the habitual tension with a healthier, new choice. The lesson for me was very powerful. It became something I could repeat to myself before thoughts spiraled out of control. Just like the old fire safety commercials they used to have: stop, drop, and roll! The steps were: see, stop, and choose.

Thought this might help.

Yes, I to am becoming aware and catching myself when I find myself with those negative and self limitng thoughts that have become such a habit.

What I am doing now is to treat myself gently (like I would a friend) instead of beating myself up, and I say to myself - it's OK, your doing alright. And then move on thinking kinder thoughts.

Sherylday!.....thats IT....that IS the beginning of change....like you said...NOT from reading back actual practice of being aware. The more you catch yourself the more you will be able to...and then begin to replace that old way of thiking with a new way!

to NEW beginnings, razz

This is my first post, and as you can see by the icon, I'm happy and incognito.

I have read the book several times, and until now, I really did not "get it". I thought somewhere in the reading I was suppose to find the answer.

The answer is not in the reading, it is in the understanding and practice. I catch myself either mumbling or thinking negative thoughts i.e. "I'm tired", "I don't get this". Now I'm learning to step back and reply to myself. 'no, I may feel tired, but I'm not tired, that's not who I am', or 'I may be having some difficulty grasping this, but I will grasp it when I am ready-the student is just now turning the corner of understanding". I am getting there, and soon I will be exactly where I want to be!

Thanks for these great thought. One thing I have found is that sometimes my inner voice (critic)gets so quiet it whispers and I suddenly become aware of this quiet voice telling me I can't do something or some other negative thing.
So quiet time is important to really listen to see if the critic is helpful or not.
What I have learned to say to my critic is "thank you for sharing, I don't ever need to hear that negative thought again, what I need to hear is how I can do.....". This helps to retain my mind to focus on how I can do amazing things.
Cheers, labonne

Thanks for reminding me to be aware. This truly is a key to fulfilling all we desire in life. We may plan, but if we are not aware of where we are positioned and the direction we are going in relation to our plan, we are like a ship without a rudder and just wandering aimlessly. Check your compass regularly so you know where you are and where you are going.
