I'm a little uncertain about one of the goals I set for myself, whether or not it is too general. When I read it out loud to notice how it felt and sounded to me, it definitely was the most powerful goal I set for myself. In fact, it was the only one that I reacted to on a feeling, emotional level. I really let lose with it. But then I wondered if it was to general, and not specific enough. The goal is to have enough money to feel free to do whatever I want, whenever I want, without having to first think about money- travel, hiking, golf, donating money, helping friends and family, etc. Enough money so that I feel free from the harassment around money I have felt for so long. I know what the book and course say about "asking largely", and I don't feel reluctant like I used to be, but what I really desire is enough money to never have to think about it again. I figure that would cover everything. So, is that too general, and should I break it down into parts, e.g. playing golf whenever and wherever I want? My thinking here is that if I had enough money to golf like this, it would necessarily mean that I'd have the "enough money" I'm referring to in the more general goal, but even here I'm uncertain. Do I think of the goal only as a desire, or as the evidence of having "enough money"? I think I'm in danger of muddying the waters even further if I continue, but does anyone know what I'm driving at in terms of how to frame the goal statement? I'd appreciate any feedback, thanks.

For now I'm going to let others here -- your Genius colleagues -- chime in on specifics, but I will say that I suspect you are racing through the course (I checked when you signed up) and one thing that would benefit you greatly is to relax and take your time. Have FUN with this process. In a very real way, that IS the point.
Any time you feel that tight, gotta-figure-it-out sensation, that shows you that you're big into resisting and trying to force things to happen and focusing on the "how." Who else has been there? Love & blessings, and, of course-- EXPECT Success! Rebecca |

Hi there GGMAN;
Welcome to the course and to these forums! I agree with Rebecca that you are going too fast through the course, this is not a race, just relax into it. To your point about the CMI; again, just relax into it. Picture your life as you would like it to be some time in the future! See yourself traveling, hiking, golfing, donating money, helping friends and family, etc. I wouldn't count the money, those things in your CMI may come to you by other avenues. A friend of ours sells golf courses. As part of his job he has to travel around the world and play on some of the best golf courses in the world. When he started he just said "I'm going to sell golf courses", he wanted to be a golf course sales person and wasn't concerned about the money. He knew that the money would be part of it. Be good to yourself, live life passionately and always, always expect success!! I don't know how long I will live, but I'll live until I die!! Tom Strong |

Hi GGMAN, I'm relatively new, like yourself but my feeling is that focusing on the money is too general because how will you know when you have enough? I would be more inclined to focus on the feeling you get when you see yourself doing the things you desire to do with the money and then you will KNOW and feel excited as each bit falls into being (if that makes sense). Enjoy! I look forward to hearing of your successes. Mozz

Welcome and see? Everyone is different. These LLs are principles meant to be applied to your circumstances. I did a similar thing. I want enough money to make the decisions I want and live how I please. But the question in my head kept surfacing. "Ahem, and how mucXh is that?" Hmmm. How much is that?
So, I sat down and looked at my financial situation and started listing things, well I need x number of dollars to pay of my house and current obligations. X for this and x for that. Once I had it all written down I could see that I could live quite comfortably with a certain amount that made me feel wonderful. As other life labs have followed, I now have that figure in my mind. And ideas come to support. I want multiple streams of income and so ideas are coming to support it. But I feel having a big grand unnamed sum, may not be specific enough to move you in a direction. But that is my personality. I may reach that goal and find out I want more. And when I do, then I will adjust. To me, it's like saying, "I want to go to Hawaii," and then not caring why, when, or how you get there. Although, I know we don't normally try to figure out the how with our CMI's. Hope that helps. |

Money is part of my CMI in that I do have specific amounts in mind. However, the figure isn't something I focus on because it isn't what fulfills my dreams. The feelings of being, doing and having my dreams come true allows me to be fulfilled. That's what I focus on.
