Hi Rebecca, wanted to say that I'm loving your
course so far...thank you.
Although I understand all of the principles outlined in your course, and the book,I keep running into a problem.I currently am an elementary school teacher I love to death what I do and everything about this profession however, I want more...What I mean is, I would love to have all of my credit cards paid off,my mortgage etc...Basically I would love to be debt free and just go on enjoying
> what I do. My wife does make a fairly good income, thank goodness because we couldn't do the things and provide for our children with just my income. I guess it's just there is no "room to grow"financialy with my job.

Do you have any encouragement or suggestions to offer please?
I'm currently on Life Lab 25 now.

Hi, Kev. First, let me say that I admire dedicated and joyous teachers so much. What you do is incredible. Some very special teachers made a great difference in my life.

You don't need to worry about how the universe will pay off those credit cards. Just visualize them paid off while you're still teaching happily. There is definitely room to grow financially no matter where you are. For example, I have a teacher friend who supplements her income (quite handily) by writing curriculums. (Curricula?) She finds this work easy and fun. Something like that could come your way. Your wife could get a huge raise. The wealthy grandmother of a student you help could send you a big Christmas bonus. You just never know where abundance is going to come from--and you don't need to know. Just be happy you're doing what you love, think about your wonderful, debt-free life, and magical things will happen.

"Once you have clearly formed your vision, the whole matter turns on receiving. (...) Then, from that moment on you must, receive what you ask for." pg 29

Just the first thing that came to mind when I read your post. I really like that quote. Teachers are very giving people. It's a new experience to consciously receive.

Kev,

You might want to look at a network marketing business. As you do the Lifelab course you will see that Rebecca has been very successful (unsurprisingly) in such a business.

If you can find one that you feel good about, and apply the principles of SOGR, then it will give you the results you want.

Teachers are actually great for this business because it relies much more on sharing and disseminating information - ie teaching people, than it does selling.

We have developed a methodology and material which keeps the time commitment down to a minimum but we always need to make sure we avoid getting into the competetive mind and pushing things ourselves, which is often how other people teach it, rather than letting the "Universe" provide.

Darrin, you're so awesome!

You totally made my night with that one - I've been a customer since Aug'03 and have never looked back! I was wondering when I was going to meet other customers!

cheers! Lon

In Chapter 5 Wattles says:

quote:
Rockerfeller, Carnegie, Morgan et al, have been the unconscious agents of the supreme in the necessary work of systematizing and organizing productive industry, and in the end their work will contribute immensely to increased life for all. But their day is nearly over. They have organized production and will soon be succeeded by the agents of the multitude, who will organize the machinery of distribution.

I cannot help but think that this applies to Network Marketing. Very Far-sighted of him.

Kev,

In looking at your quandry, do you feel that perhaps you've set up an imaginary reality that demands that making lots of money AND being a teacher are not a reality? In other words, do you view it as an either/or attitude?

Now, I'll agree 100% that elementary school teachers simply are not high-paid members of our society. So, I will agree that you will likely not be able to achieve wealth through that career.

But, what if you get rid of the limitations that you have around making miney while simultaneously being a teacher? There things that you can do alongside that career that could make you a fortune? Sure! Right now I'm thinking of the school teacher who wrote the two best-sellers about things all children should know. There's a guy who wound up being a well-paid public speaker, author (and more) and yet still has his class.

Network marketing has already been mentioned. That's something that you can do in your part-time that could create an income for you.

Or, what if you reframe the ideas you have around teaching? In other words, what if you chose to become a private tutor who took clients only by referral and got massive results through your one-on-one teaching with kids. All of a sudden, you're still teaching but you're in "private practice" instead of squeaking by on the public school salary table.

Or, what if you decided that you wanted to make alot of money by teaching adults? God knows there's lots of personal success coaches who get paid great money simply by teaching others.

In other words, identify and explode all the limitations you think exist for you right now. They're not really there. And when you start thinking "without limits" you'll probably find that there's a lot of things you can do to get rich. It just starts with getting rid of the imagined limitations and taking a step toward your dreams.

You can do it!

Hi Tony, thanks for the great advice.
I've actually have considered starting something on the side to compliment my teachers income. I live my job and would like to keep it while making something extra on the side.
I am also a musician, and have thought of perhaps trying to market some of my originals perhaps through a website.I left the performance aspect of music, I had enough of playing the clubs every weekend for 18 years. And besides, I try to spend as much time with my wife and kids as possible.
Somethings holding me back from strating a new side ventor, I just havn't pin pointed my problem yet.

Peace

Kev
