Yesterday I had the most amazing experience. Actually, I'm beginning to understand that stuff like this happens in SOGR all the time.
I work on Friday nights and this Friday was important because it's part of Student Appreciation Month. We have a pretty aggressive sales goal we're trying to meet and I'm usually the closer. On the other hand, I have a very competent staff. When I found out that my daughter's band banquet was scheduled for this Friday, I exclaimed out loud. I really had no intention of skipping work, but when the staff found out that I wanted to go with my daughter, they insisted that they were fine without me. I accepted their offer, went to the banquet, had a great time with my daughter, and didn't think about work the whole evening! The next morning, I went into the office to clean up some projects I had left undone. I had no thought of checking up on the events of the evening before. I was sure that all had gone well -- after all, my staff is very competent. But, the receipt book was sitting on the counter, so I picked it up to put it away. One of the entries caught my eye, so I looked through the last few entries. They had met our entire week's goal in one night!!! I immediately added up the amounts, gave profound thanks to the universe, then texted my husband (who had been worried about money.) Then I texted all the staff members and thanked them for doing a great job. Talk about reaching for what makes you feel good and letting the universe send you what you want! Wow. Looking back, I see that this is not the first time similar things have happened. Part of my CMI is being able to leave to go on vacation, with the studio full of happy, paying students, and the complete knowledge that the staff will do very well without me. A big part of that came true this weekend. The only thing missing was how long I was gone! Thank you to everyone and everything that has helped me to reach this place. Especially, everyone on this forum. Your turn! Rachel |

Yes it does!
And I agree that having a competent staff is really important! For several years before selling our business my wife and I were able to take 10 days at a time off a couple times a year because we had a staff that could run the place with out us! And the key was to treat the staff fairly and with respect. We are still close to a couple of them! A good book by Michael Gerber, "The E-Myth", advises owners of businesses to Work On Their Business, Rather than Work In Their Business! Of course it may take some time to get there, but that is an achievable goal! Be good to yourself, live life passionately and always, always expect success!! I don't know how long I will live, but I'll live until I die!! Tom Strong |
