Well this course was written before the current economic crisis so lots of old... and even fairly new... ways of thinking about feeling rich, making money and having debt are just out the window. I'm older and my parents generation was right about money. Work hard, pay cash for everything except your house and car. My dad was like the fisherman. He turned down management opportunities and retired at 57. Of course this was when you worked for one major company for life and they had pensions.

Hi Kindredspirit,
People can make a lot of money in any economic situation; in fact a lot have made a lot of money in "the current economic crisis". I do know some people who have been hurt, but most people close to me have been doing very well! And they are doing well while doing things that they enjoy! That turns hard work into play! I am now 69, I began a business at 54, sold it profitably at 67 and am now starting a new business! I don't want to stay retired, I want to be doing things that I enjoy doing for the rest of my life! You are worthy of living the life of your dreams and you will be able to if you put the principles of SOGR to work for you; those principles are found in the book by Wally and the course by Rebecca! Be good to yourself, live life passionately and always, always expect success!! I don't know how long I will live, but I'll live until I die!! Tom Strong |

Illusions! All our lives are just the manifestation of metaphysical energies. We are here to live, love, create, and learn.
Limitations are only what we put upon ourselves. Once we argue for our limitations, then we own them. Break the chains; do not let them bind you. Set your spirit free, for all that you truly believe you shall truly be. |

Well, PRINCIPLES are timeless, so "when" is irrelevant. They work, always. And this idea about working hard -- well, if that's what you believe and expect, that's what will be true for you. You mention your dad retiring at 57. I just happen to have that particular number attached to me at the moment and what I've come to discover over the past 11 or 12 years is that the LESS I work, the more money comes to me. In fact, I'd say I don't "work" at all anymore. (And I certainly don't "work hard.") Love & blessings, and, of course-- EXPECT Success! Rebecca |

And just to add something to what rebecca said If you like what you do; it doesn't feel like a job.
By being here you are improving keep your thoughts coming; if you didn't have them you wouldn't be here. IMHO. Lots of love Luz Maria I am that I am I am God in action in this my body and through my mind. |

Thank you everyone for taking the time to respond, especially Rebecca! I know Lab 2 was about putting limiting beliefs firmly in the past and moving forward.
The last reply from Luz Maria summed it all up perfectly:
I'm always surprised when I get paid for some online writing. It feels a bit like work... even doing something you like requires some effort I think... but when I keep getting paid for it doesn't feel like work at all! I should be doing more of that kind of work since I do enjoy it! Speaking of improving thoughts... I know it is suggested that we don't follow any other course while doing this one but I'm reading a book about thinking that is complimentary. So in a way it's affirming what is in this course. That's a good thing or Luz Maria would be right... I wouldn't be "here"! "It is never too late to be what you might have been." -George Eliot |

Effort can feel wonderful. Struggle is a killer. And the difference is all in the THINKING, the attitude. Love & blessings, and, of course-- EXPECT Success! Rebecca |

Forbes Magazine said that we had a record breaking number of billionaires this year. More billionaires during an economic crisis, mmmm.
Also, many new millionaires were made during the Great Depression in the 1920's. I'd definitely put 100% effort into mastering the concepts presented in Mr. Wattles book and forget the appearances of the "economic crisis." -- Many blessings, and, of course — EXPECT Success! Up 'til now I always thought
* money isn't spiritual * you don't need money to be happy *I didn't deserve to be rich *you had to work very hard for money *money was difficult to come by *you were lucky to have money *i used to be jealous of people that had money because i thought there was a scarcity of money *if i did get money i felt guilty This is what i USED to think! I thought that people could have more money than they needed I am slowly changing my thinking and being emancipated from my old life! I am expecting success |

Growing up in the stepson of a minister, up 'till now, I always thought...
That income is limited...note that the attitude was only reinforced when I chose to go into teaching. You have to restrict spending and delay gratification if you hope to have enough money to live on for retirement. Always get less than you can afford because you don't know when you'll need that money later. Life is always tight because there's never enough money. My parents are now in a very good position financially as they near retirement but they did without an awful lot of things to get to that point. |
