It seems to me, a lot of people generally don’t really value their FREE time.
What is FREE time? It’s the time you don’t ‘have’ to do anything in particular. It’s the time many people ‘spend’ by watching TV or surfing the Internet, or just sit around wondering what to do next, etc. Most people SQUANDER their FREE time. They don’t even really ENJOY how they ‘spend’ or ‘dispose’ of it. What’s the consequence of this ‘devaluing’ of their FREE time? Nothing gained. Just time lost. What might happen if you were to truly VALUE your free time? Think of TIME as MONEY. Do you ever squander money? By the way,… what does it really mean to ‘squander’ money? Practically, it seems to mean, to spend it in ways that don’t give you any good experience, e.g., more peace, happiness, contentment, sense of fulfillment, etc. How do you feel when you generally squander money? Not so good, right? Well, what do you think ‘squandering’ your time does to your psyche? Do you think there might be some connection to the habit of squandering your time, and not having enough money? Certainly it affects your sense of Well Being, when you ‘squander’ your FREE time. There seems to be a general malaise of most people. Most people simply don’t put a lot of value on what they perceive as FREE, such as ‘free time.’ Just a thought. You may know people who are happy to get through the day - they are so unhappy with what they are doing that they are wishing their life away; ie wishing for Friday afternoon.
An author whose name I don't recall at the moment advises to "Get From The Day; Not Get Through The Day"! What are you getting from today? Be good to yourself, live life passionately and always, always expect success!! I don't know how long I will live, but I'll live until I die!! Tom Strong |

Interesting thread Phil. Prior to joining up to TSOGR, yeah, I certainly seemed to have ample free time. One would have thought that with so much free time, I would have found something useful to occupy myself with, and that is the funny part about it, for me anyway. As the saying goes, "the devil makes use of idle hands", and I believe the same definitely applies to the unoccuppied "idle mind". And when the idle mind is not occuppied, boy does it like to play games with you, and yep, like Rebecca mentioned in one post, you sure can make up a lot of stories about everyone and everything. Since starting this course, I've been able to bury a lot of ill felt thoughts, anger and hurt, and boy, do I feel light, free and just so at peace with everything. But, I still have all this ample free time, but now without all the negative stuff. So, for me, I'm just retraining the mind in the new habit of positive thinking and my CMI's. So this new habit of positive thinking is, for me, the connection between "the habit of squandering your time, and not having enough money"? I recall a post by Ping, where he mentioned writing his CMI out in story form, I've decided to do that with my CMI today, that'll give me something to occupy myself, and reinforce my new habit and give more focus to my CMI. Really want to mention my CMI here as well. When I turn 50 next year, I want to celebrate my 50th in my new dream house, along with my new vehicles and loaded bank accounts and totally new perspective for my new life. Don't know how it's going to happen, but thats not my concern. My concern is to focus on positive thinking and my CMI, as a new habit and new way of life. TSOGR course is cool, and all you people on here are awesome. Blessings Andrew |

I love love love my free time. I thoroughly enjoy it and give thanks every single second I find myself in that particular circumstance. I love it so much, am so happy when I have it, and am so absolutely gushing with gratitude, I can't understand why I do not attract nothing but free time.

Well, consider all the time you spend complaining about your job and family time. The more you focus on that, the more like that you attract -- the OPPOSITE of the free time you enjoy. Love & blessings, and, of course-- EXPECT Success! Rebecca |

T'is true. I am unable to bear the pain of physical intrusion in my happy little world.
I wonder how come internet conversations don't hurt. |

It's an interesting topic Phil, on the one hand we're told that time is an illusion and not to place so much value on it, the present moment is all that counts but on the other hand, time is of the essence and precious because we are here for less than a blink of the eye in evolutionary terms.
I like Eckhart Tolle's explanation of time, where there is clock time (CT) and then there's psychological time (PT). We all live by CT and age accordingly, but our presence (joy, appreciation, etc) grows when we disengage from PT. But maybe that's off topic here. So who is the one that decides that time is squandered? It may be a judgement by another or a self defeating attitude by our selves. In any event, if we come back to our essence of abundance, we can say, time is abundant also, so what will I choose now? It seems to me that the practice of coming back to feeling that unlimited one within (some call the present moment) is what helps us realise that we can consciously choose what to do with our time. And in that consciousness, we generally choose to focus on something we can appreciate and feel good about. I suppose what I'm saying is that if anyone feels they are squandering their time, come back to feeling good now, and choose joy, whatever that looks like to you. |

Angelo, I like the idea of seeing an abundance of time.
Why not? If there is an abundance of money, love, wisdom, and everything else, why not an abundance of time as well? Certainly, worrying about a lack of time doesn't help any more than worrying about a lack of money, does it? Thanks for the thought! Love and blessings, Rachel |
