Bonfire Night!

Hello All,

I'm Jodyne, 29 from the centre of England - near to our Birmingham!!

I've thoroughly enjoyed reading SOGR and am now applying what it's taught me. I have also downloaded "How to get lots of money for anything......fast!!" It's excellent for keeping me focussed Smile

Anyway - to my question......it's bonfire night here on Saturday and at this time of year you hear lots of terrible stories of cruelty to animals. It's something that makes me feel physically sick, but I want to try to understand how I can be grateful when hearing such horrifying tales.

I understand Mr Wattles tells us not to read newspapers etc so as to avoid all of the bad situations around the globe - but what about when you can't avoid it?? How can I turn this around, as the last thing I want to do is perpetuate this behaviour..........??

Thanks very much

Jodyne,
Welcome to this very special place in the universe and thank you for reminding me of Guy Fawkes Night, I miss that celebration so, anyway back to your question, rest assured that most of the terrible stories of cruelty to animals are just that "terrible stories" the Brit's are a nation of animal lovers and nothing is more revolting to them than these sick tails, follow Mr Wattles advice and avoid not only the newspapers but all media that use shock and negativity to promote themselves, also dismiss any rumors or gossip that you cannot verify yourself and if all else fails remember this "Give me strength to change the things I can change, give me courage to accept the things I cannot change, and grant me wisdom to know the difference.”I hope that this will be of help and comfort to you

Many Blessings

Welcome, Jodyne!

Like Russell said, try and ignore the stories in the media by not listening to them or reading them. If they come up in conversation, walk away or change the subject (sports, weather).

Every Oudejaarsavond (31 December) here in the Netherlands, I am thinking of the dogs. Remembering our own dog who was so very scared of the fireworks noise outside. So I say a prayer for the angels to cover all of their ears and whisper words of comfort to them.

Hi Jodyne,

Guess you had fair share of fireworks thrillers in last few days. I have been affirming to myself, that everything is All Good.

Once I catch myself feeling other wise, I release the thought and just says It's all Good, thank you formless. Big Grin

Hope that helps?

God is my coach and number 1 fan Wink

Jodyne, I too am an animal lover. My Dalmatian, Agni (Sanscrit goddess of fire) is having her 15th birthday on Nov 22nd.

One of my favorite movies is "Death Takes a Holiday"... and the remake "Meet Joe Black" (?) It's not the movie so much as the concept. Balance in this lower plane of the physical is a requirement. And to put everything in a positive light, we must assume that yes, even torture and apparent cruelty to humans, animals, plants, and even to inanimate objects acts as a balance. We all learn and grow and advance (forward or backward) in the development of Self.. in body, mind, and spirit; in accordance with our intent. To MAKE what seems like a negative into a positive, you can work with your imagination+heart. As an example, lets say you see a dead squirrel in the street. S/he is free from the bonds of the physical world and all its limitations. Imagine carrying it's inner self up to the animal heaven and placing it in the care of the workers there. To help you in your imagery, it's a vast park with a variety of landscape: sweeping green meadows, trees with brillant green leaves and brilliant colorful flowers; pristine, clear waters in lakes, ponds, streams, and fountains; and several buildings for the receipt and orientation of new residents.
