When I was in the fifth grade ( that must have been 45 years ago) there was a song that contained the words 'blame it on the bossa nova'. My last name is Casanova so some of the kids would call me bossa nova. When I first entered the world of the web (must have been something like 15 years ago) usernames were quite often taken. Also, usernames were usually limited to 9 characters. Casanova was always taken and so was Pete. So I thought about 'blame it on the bossa nova' and decided on blameiton. I just now read a post written in August about my forum name. It is not about negative feelings about myself. It is about dancing. You see I can always get this name as no one wants to accept blame. Things have changed on the internet but if you search out blameiton you will probably find me somewhere. I don't want to change it because I like to be consistent. So, it's nothing negative. Just dancing. I wouldn't mind seeing other's username history.

I've heard of the blame-game being put another way as well. This the way T. Harv Eker, from the Secrets of the Millionaire Mind put it,

I tink blameiton is a good user name.
Mine Studmuffin was given to me by my wife. She's called me that for as far as I remember. I liked it and adopted it as mu user name. And it fit me so well...
