Hi all. I don't think I've posted here before but wanted to join in. I have been studying SOGR and related works off and on for more than four years, but have only recently really dedicated myself to the study. I find that I was really resistant to reading SOGR and my subconscious seemed to reject it, I would feel anxiety and it never really sank in, but recently it is beginning to.
I did have a recent success, small but meaningful, that I'd like to share. We recently moved into a larger house after 'letting go' of our small two bedroom house. My two daughters were excited to finally have their own rooms and we loved the house. One problem though, we now had an extra room with no furniture to put in it. It is a sunroom, all glass. We knew it would be a nice place to sit and relax, but at the time did not have the funds to furnish it. I began to envision that room full of beautiful furniture, that we had bought new (I didn't want used furniture and refused to settle for used in my 'clear mental image') without putting a burden on our finances. One day I was on the internet and had a thought to check on craigslist for furniture. I made sure to include 'new' in the search string, kind of saying to myself 'Ya right, who's going to sell brand new furniture for a reasonable price on criagslist??' But sure enough, someone was selling a brand new loveseat for $130. The guy lived less than three miles from I work so I decided to take a long lunch and go check it out. It was a great couch and pretty big for a 'loveseat', more the size of a couch and, yes, brand new. It turns out that a local furniture store had donated a truck load of furniture for a neighborhood fundraiser auction and there were a few leftovers. This guy just wanted it out of his garage. I think I could have bargained with him and got an even better price but didn't feel the need. In the meantime, we had a table given to us (not brand new but in new condition) and bought an inexpensive area rug (which my dog has been destroyed but that's another story). We love our new furniture and we enjoy it as quiet place to read and relax. Now all I need is a new chair and it will be complete, which I'm still working on. Just wanted to share my story, thanks for listening. I am now imaging us owning this house which we are currently renting and seeing it with new cabinets, granite countertops, and a new exterior paint job. I will update you all when that happens. |

Welcome Brabed!
I'm pretty new to this forum, too, but I wanted to thank you for joining in. The small successes you described are just the sort of momentum building incidents that really get your gratitude going. And of course, gratitude is the magnet that attracts good things to us. Actually, it's probably more like: gratitude is the filter that shows us the good things sitting right in front of us. Anyway, I loved reading your story. Keep 'em coming! Rachel |

Brabed,
I'll ditto what Rachel just said. Welcome and thank you so much for sharing. Too many times we swing for the fences, looking for the Grand Slam opportunities that we forget it's more often the little things strung together that win the daily games of life. I liken success to a muscle; it needs to be conditioned and built over time. You don't go down to the gym and start hoisting the biggest thing you can find right from day one. Yet so many people come to SOGR and similar personal development programs with the dream of becoming an overnight success, whatever that means to them. Success DOES breed success and I have no doubt that your current dreams and much, MUCH more will be fulfilled! Do keep us posted. Thank you all for the kind responses. I continue to see little successes every day as I sharpen my mind in the 'certain way'. In fact, since my first post, I have been presented a very interesting business opportunity. I'm not sure which direction I'll take, but good to know it's there and I know there will be more. Thanks again all.

I took a little break in your sunroom this afternoon.
I am, afterall, the resident queen of fantasy. But there is a house I have been looking at that just went back on the market and it has a nice sunroom and you made me think of it. So thank you. |

Hi all,
Just wanted to check back in with some pretty cool things that have been happening, still little things, but they get better as I go. Needed tires for my truck, badly, and did not at the time have enough funds in my bank account- Found almost brand new tires for a price I could easily afford. Received a completely unexpected bonus check from my job. This hasn't happened in my eight years working there. I was able to pay off a lingering debt with it. Needed a room air conditioner for my house, as the central air barely keeps up with the heat(I'm in AZ). I did not have the funds for a new one, but found an inexpensive used one in good condition. The best part about this one is that the people selling it were out of work and badly needed the money, so I felt even better about the transaction. I am becoming wealthier every day. |
