Hi all,
I'm new here and new to SOGR, sort of. I got the book, CD's and registered for the Practical Genius course ages ago, but have now just decided to get my act in gear and DO the course. I guess I'm having trouble really getting into it, as I can't see the end result yet(ie; having it work) and I can't even imagine it working yet. Is that something that develops while you are doing the course, or do I really need to belive it works first? Kind of like the chicken and the egg thing. Which comes first: Believing or Doing? If I have doubts, will they fade as I plug along and do the Life Labs?

When I look at my life, I find it hard to believe I have created it. It is not at all as I would want it to be. I would not even wish this life on my worst enemy, so to think I made it, is difficult. I know no one else did it TO me, but I do think I have just had a bunch of bad luck. Karma, fate or whatever. So with that belief, can I truly believe that I can actually make a life full of abundance?

How does one start to think in such a different way when what I have now is a life of complete UNabundance.

Blessings to all.

animated,
I agree with you. The posts are very helpful. I get caught up reading them until my eyes can't focus any more. I was hestiant to get involved in the forums, but after reading so many good things I forgot my bad attitude and focused more on the positive things. I also went back to listening to the book on CD and found a better direction than I had before. So please don't stay away from here because of your attitude. It's the best palce to be at a time like that!

Blessings to you,
Carol (I hope the tooth fairy was good to you)

Helle,
Thanks for all the advice. I appreciate your post. After posting, I put the headphones on and stuck the SOGR CD into the player. I got more direction than I had before I posted.

You say you want to move to the US. Isn't that funny, because I always wanted to live in Canada! "The grass looks greener on the other side of the fence", as the saying goes. You too, have air to breathe, food to eat (internet access to SOGR) in Canada, and I'm sure you are as grateful for that as I am. I've finally learned that it's not about the PLACE that you live, it's about HOW you live in that place that matters. I've moved many times, looking for a better life. I've not found it however, and finally discovered it is not in WA or Canada or MA or anywhere else, it's IN ME. I may move again, but it won't be for the same reason. It will be because there is something there that draws me, interests me (or a job that pays me!) but not because I think I'll FIND my life there. There is another saying, "Where ever you go, there you are." Nothing changes but the scenery when you move for the wrong reason.

So with that thought, I'll settle into SOGR, change my thoughts and behavior, define my CMI and focus on that. Then we'll see what devleops. I actually am looking for software to buy, to design my dream home, complete with gardens, greenhouses and trees! The details that aren't included with the software (like a wonderful loving husband, friends etc) I'll add on my own! I'm so excited about that and have already started.

Blessings to you, and thanks for being here with me.
Carol

Hi Carol

I have just been here a few weeks myself and have found this place to be so supportive. You are definitely in the right place by coming here.

I can very much relate to what you are saying as I am working to change my thoughts into believing that I can change my life, too. You might want to read the responses I got to my post "First premise ...". I got a lot of help with that.

It's important to remember to slow down and take it one step at a time. These changes we are trying to make are HUGE, or at least they look huge while we are on this side of it. I suspect they will look smaller once we are on the other side. I have found that the most important thing to change is to BELIEVE that your life can be wonderful. If you don't believe it, it will be hard for the good stuff to come to you. Mr. Wattles says that YOUR job is to decide what you truly want and then go on to being grateful for already having received it. So, you have to be open to receiving it, you have to open the door by believing you can have it and that you deserve it. I have read at least one person from this forum saying that she did all the right things and wondered why her luck didn't change. It wasn't until she realized that she didn't really believe she could have the life she dreamed of that she took the big step and changed that one primary belief.
I believe it is a decision we can make. We can decide to believe, just for now, just for today, that we can have all the things in life we want. Someone wrote in and reminded me that this is supposed to be FUN. Play with it, pretend that you believe you can have it all ... what would that look like, what would it feel like, smell like?
I have actually set a schedule for myself: 3 times a day I have to spend 15 min. focusing on my CMI and feel the gratitude of already having it, because otherwise I'll get all caught up in my circumstances and get dragged down by my old thinking.

Go easy on yourself. Make the committment to make this work. I made the committment and gave up all other teachers and gurus for now, just like Mr. Wattles says.

I can tell you one thing you could be grateful for: you live in the U.S. and that is MY biggest dream. You already have what I dream of the most! I am from Europe but my heart and my girlfriend are in the U.S. and we are working so hard, and have been working for years, trying to get me over there. I am hoping that SOGR will be the key to finally succeeding.

There really is an endless list of things to be grateful for: everytime you take a breath, there is air to breathe! Do you eat every day? You're way ahead of the majority of the people on this planet. Do you have fresh running water, a warm shower? Do you actually have friends and family? And of course, you could be grateful to yourself for having chosen to start over again on SOGR and join this forum where people from all over the world just want to help YOU. Isn't that wonderful : ) I know I love it. I feel like I have unexpectedly gotten a bunch of new friends who all are interested in the same thing I am, and who all want to help me (and you know Mr. Wattles tells us that the Universe is friendly and everybody unconsciously or consciously wants us to succeed).

So, welcome, Carol. Your life is GREAT!

Smile Helle

Hi Carol,

I just want to encourage you to start the PG course. It is to help us learn and grow--we don't have to know or believe it before we start. The LL are great for taking one step at a time.

I have also been in a state of un-abundance. I've been temping and after spending some time reading the book this summer I got a not too fun job but at a higher pay than I have had in years. In Aug/Sept I did the PG and even though I didn't really get a CMI I could feel my life improving. By early Oct I got another temp job that is much more fun and more money but still with some big 'did I really ask for that' parts. I've been listening to the tapes off and on and getting more the feel of my CMI. I feel that it is time for me to go through PG again now so I can move on to the next step.

I guess what I am trying to say is that I see this as a continual learning thing. I moved along a bit on my upward spiral the past few months and now I am ready to do some more work to evolve and expand some more.

One thing I didn't do before was participate in the forums. I have been in such a negative state of mind lately and can't sleep tonight--one reason is that I am going to have two teeth pulled tomorrow--but I found my thoughts turning around just reading the inspirational posts. You're here though so you are ahead of me on that one.

Let us know how it goes for you!

Stella,
Great! I will just DO IT. What I have been doing up until now has not worked so this is a much better option. I'm so glad (grateful) that I have found this opportunity. What a wonderful support system I have with repsonses from Greece, CT, and Australia all in one day. That is wonderful and makes me so glad to be a part of this. I'm excited to see what happens next =:}
Blessings to you,
Carol

Welcome Carol. Right off the bat, I think participating in the Practical Geniuses course would be great for you. It will help strip away some of your existing thought patterns and open up whole new thought channels.

Dave,
Thanks so much for your response. I am grateful for your support and insight. I agree I need to 'derail' my old thought patterns. They did me no good. I truly am grateful for all I have, which is more than I may have lead you to believe. I do have a roof over my head, food to eat (though they 'belong' to my sister) and a pet (tho she has issues too!)I could be much worse off and appreciate that every day.

I listened to the book on CD last night and this morning, and will continue to listen. My life needs a makeover and this is a perfect way to make it happen.

Blessings to you,
Carol

Brett,
Thanks so much for your response and your insight. I love the mention you made of freedom. It is so positive! I have made a promise to myself to work every day at making my life what I want it to be, and this course gives me the tools to do so. I'm grateful for your participation in my progress!
Blessings to you,
Carol

Welcome Carol. Right off the bat, I think participating in the Practical Geniuses course would be great for you. It will help strip away some of your existing thought patterns and open up whole new thought channels.

I believe a key to all you ask is to begin with being grateful for some things in your life - things that are going on right now.

Take a look where you are now and pick out some of the things that are good. If you can't think of anything right away then dig a little deeper. If you look at truth instead of appearances I believe you will find many things (even if they are small) to be grateful for. For some people it has been a roof over their heads, food on the table, some family aspect, a pet, etc. This is a great starting point which you can then expand on. Listen to your feelings as they will tell you where your thoughts are. You can gradually shift your thinking (if necessary) to thoughts that make you happy (i.e. your CMI’s or things for which you are grateful). Make sure you relax! The good news is with practice all of this gets easier!

Once you begin to see gratitude in everything - regardless of how it appears - you will be able to get rid of the "UN" in the quote above.

Hello and welcome! You don't really need to believe in SOGR. Just DO IT! In a way it's a receipe - and the result is guranteed if you just follow the instructions.
Amazing things has happened to me since February when I joined. Surprising stuff. Read some of the stories here and you'll see that EVERYONE who follows the instructions are getting results!
My best wishes to you!

Hi Karol,

You are in the perfect place right now.
What a level of freedom you have, to be even aware that you have created your life up until now. How great, because the flip side is you are alive and today is the start of the rest of your life. You have the power to create whatever it is you dream.

My experience of the course is that it it designed to give you an insight to where you currently are Wink and then once you become consciously aware of this you then have the power and freedom to access and implement your heart's desire.
There is no rush with the course and that combined with the forum is a fantastic structure to support you.

Stay positive and work towards it everyday

Brett
