There Is No Spoon...

The last few days I've been really deep into SOGR. As Mr. Wattles teaches, a few days spent in contemplating the vision and in ernest thanksgiving for its realization will bring one's mind in such close connection to the formless that no mistakes can be made.

As I continued to delve into this, contemplating my own life and vision I began to arrive at this, "There is no spoon" place. Fans of the Matrix films will know what I am talking about. In the first film a little monk who is bending spoons tells Neo, the hero, that it is not the spoon that bends but him. He instructs him not to try and bend the spoon, but to see the truth. When asked what that truth is, he replies, "There is no spoon."

Mr. Wattles teaches us that in order to think what we want to think, we must see truth regardless of appearances. We must realize that regardless of what our eyes perceive, the truth is always that there is one thinking substance from which all things proceed.

Another popular line in the Matrix films is, 'Everything that has a beginning has an end." In the world of forms he tend to judge all things by time and we are constantly seeing beginnings and endings. We tend to judge said endings as "negative" in many cases. The truth, however, is that there is one thinking substance from which all things proceed. In the world of this substance, there are no beginnings and no endings. Energy can never be created or destroyed. It simply is. And it is now.

When we look at things from this perspective we realize that there can be no such thing as "negative". Just like when the little monk tells Neo, "...you will see, it is not the spoon that bends, it is only yourself.", we can see that it is how we choose to react to things in the world of forms that leads to judgement of positive or negative. The truth is still that there is one thinking substance.

This is why, positive or negative, we always get what we think about most. Yet, few have trouble thinking about and getting those things that we deem negative. In fact, it is all to easy, effortless even, and maybe too frequent. What we should do, ,then, is realize that in the world of the formless there is no negative. We should be grateful that we have actually impressed our thoughts on the formless and, without resistance, received. Whatever we have received, it is our choice to call it "positive" or "negative". It is making the distinction which makes it harder to achieve one versus the other.

It is at this point that we realize that we can, at anytime, choose to think about something else, and with that same lack of resistance, and with that same effortless ease, we can receive that. There is no difference. The sooner we let go of the illusion that there is a difference, the more easily and rapidly the things we want fly to us.

So the next time your eyes present you with something you might choose to call "negative", remind yourself, "There is no spoon."

Excellent Teruchan. Thanks for posting this. As I read it I thought of Mr. Wattles comment on Gratitude:

quote:
And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.

While I understand his statement you have helped me put it into a new perspective with an avenue for a thought shift.

I love the Matrix! Its full of great insightfull AHA lines! I love when Neo first has to try to jump programme and jump from the top of one skyscraper to the other and is told he must get rid of all doubt and fear, "free your mind". He jumps and falls and is suprised to find blood in his mouth and asks "I thought you said it wasn't real"? And Morpheus replies "your mind makes it real."

I watched a Q&A session on the film "What the bleep do you know" and one of the directors was talking about putting manifesting into action, he referred it to the Matrix, you start to notice things you want coming to you, you start to notice 'glitches in the Matrix' and thats when you realise, hey I'm doing this!

Great post!

Oh yes there is! I put a box in the cupboard yesterday! What!? There's no cupboard? OMG, It's all an illusion - Oh my, and what a wonderful illusion it is....oh yes, Oh my...oh it's WONDERFUL!!!! Oh - I like these new cupboards! Yes indeed. And look at that view! I love sitting here on terrace in the morning, eating my toast and eggs...sipping endless cups of tea. The view from here is absolutely stupendous - and the eggs are always PERFECT! Big Grin Wink
