Realizing that Rebecca was in Mexico for Day of the Dead I couldn't help but remember that it's such a wonderful celebration of gratitude.
I was in Mexico Last year for one the largest Day of the Dead celebrations. Over 10,000 people crammed this little town I was in. It was my first time ever being there for this celebration. To me it was beautiful to see the altars that were created and the sea of purple and orange flowers that ordorned the cemetary's and the parties and prayers. I was taught from some of the locals that it was a time to celebrate the transition of our loved ones and to express gratitude for the gift of life and the opportunity they had to share a life with them. There might be more to it but all I can say is that I was in awe of this colorful celebration. Appreciation from the Heart, Richard De Haven |

LOL. I can just see you all with your pocket protectors. Rebecca I love the Butterfly Migration. I went to the Monarch Sanctuary an hour or two from Morelia and it was incredible to see a sea of Butterflies covering the forest. I felt wonderful. Appreciation from the Heart, Richard De Haven |

Sounds like those Mexicans have got the Latin Spirit.
I got invited to celebrate on the Moors this year, very different from those Amigo's - Quiet, Intimate, just a few friends sharing a ritual out there in the dark with the wind buffeting your face and the Candles marking the circle. Quite Primal, Definitely Beautiful. Usually at this time of year you get to throw something you don't want away, You write it on a piece of paper and burn it. As it is, I was double booked and ended up, get this, with seven other action men, crawling through the moors on my hands and knees. Even more funny when you realise that the action men comprised of 1 ex-serviceman, 1 Physicist who works with mass-spectrometers, 1 IT guy (Me), one retired IT manager, another IT guy and his friend who looked like an accountant... you get the idea So why the heck were we crawling though the moors, Stalking Deer to try and get photo's of them - we didn't do very well - pretty smart those deer, but at least I now know how to do it. Love your Jaguar story Rebecca, sounds absolutely Wonderful, as always Richard love to read your posts, another idea percolating of a fun thing to do. Laughingly Adrian follow your bliss as best you can |

Yes, it was beautiful and fascinating and I got to talk with a number of people who were joyfully remembering loved ones. One fellow in particular had set up a hilariously funny altar on his brother's tomb. His brother had been a dentist (with a good sense of humor, he said), so there was a half-size dental chair with a skeleton in it and another skeleton dentist with a big hammer and chisel working away in his patient's mouth.
He had some good stories about his brother and seemed pleased to show me and my friend the varius mementos and other items representing things his brother loved when he was in this physical life. Very sweet. It was a lovely sunny day, and with the butterfly migration going full blast, there were Monarchs and other lovelies floating all over the cemetery and everywhere else in town. I felt very blessed to be there. We live in a big, amazing world of abundance of every sort! (And last night I got to hold a sleepy baby jaguar for a couple minutes. Talk about CUTE!) Love & blessings, and, of course-- EXPECT Success! Rebecca |
