What’s Possible?
How Do You Hold On To The Vision Of Something When It Seems Impossible? When you dream of the life you REALLY want (not just the one you believe you can have) it’s likely you’re going to run smack into the obstacle of your own (and practically everyone ELSE’s) disbelief. Maybe, by now, you understand that you really have to become harmonious to what you want, in order to have it. And that means, some part of you has GOT to BELIEVE in it. But again, how can you believe in something, when it seems virtually impossible? One thing that helps me is looking around and seeing all the things that are real now, but were virtually IMPOSSIBLE, at some point in the past. Or, they were just so extraordinary that NO ONE would have ever thought such things could really happen. A black girl was raised in poverty, in the southern United States, in a time where racism and segregation were the rule rather than the exception. She was raised in part by her grandmother. She recalls watching her grandma washing clothes and saying, “Girl, you better pay attention because, some day you’re going to be doing this.” She was repeatedly sexually abused at an early age. Yet, she goes on to become a billionaire and one of the most admired persons in the world. A boy’s parents can hardly keep a roof over their heads for their selves or their children. They were even evicted from one place they lived, not because they couldn’t pay the meager rent but because it was infested and condemned by the health department. Life with this family was so painful the boy decided to leave home and become a street person. Although it was a severe experience being homeless, he said it was still a ‘step up’ from the life he had before, living with his family. The boy went on to attract a beautiful girl into his life that believed in him, shored up a terrible self image, went to law school, and eventually became a billionaire. (Bill Bartmann) A man was in a plane accident and paralyzed from the neck down. ALL the doctors said there was absolutely nothing that could be done. They said he would be paralyzed for life. All scientific and medical evidence supported this belief. Yet, within a year, the man did what he said he would do. He walked out of that hospital. He now has full use of his body and lectures around the world. http://www.themiracleman.org/index2.htm Or how about the Red Sox coming back from losing 3 games in the World Series and going on to win 4 in a row – against the NY Yankees – to win the Series? Or, how about, at a time when a nation is at war in the Middle East, a black man, with the middle name Hussein, gets elected to the highest office in the nation? One thing seems certain: You can’t reasonably predict what’s really impossible. Everyday you’re going to hear and have good thoughts and bad thoughts. The trick is to have the good thoughts stick, and the negative ones bounce off of you. There Is A Mountain To Climb Imagine there is a beautiful mountain to climb. You see it and it seems so magnificent, so awesome and inspiring. But it also looms large and you think it’s almost unconquerable. But you know people who have climbed it. And people who have climbed it come down to tell of the gorgeous view at the top, and how the view was literally life changing. You see the look on their faces and their way of being and you know it must be true. So, there is this beautiful mountain to climb and you are inspired to climb it. To desire no challenges (and that’s all a negative thought is) is like wanting there to be no mountain to climb. Life can be flat and unfulfilling, or it can be challenging and rewarding, meaningful and fulfilling. Challenges (which often come in the form of negative thoughts or conditions) can simply be thought of as steps on the path up the mountain. They can either be places to stumble and fall and turn back, or steps to be taken to go further up the mountain. You can tell what you’ve done with a negative thought or condition, whether you’ve handled it constructively or not. Your feelings will tell you. Your inner sense of well being will tell you. When you handle a negative thought constructively you come to view life differently. You rise above your previous misconceptions and see from a higher, more empowering point of view. You realize life has more to offer than it did before you rose above the negative thought. Your vision is greater, even if only slightly so. So, eventually, you come to realize that the so-called negative thought was a blessing in an otherwise very convincing disguise. Instead of desiring no negative thoughts, try desiring the wherewithal to handle each one constructively. Or, try desiring the perspective or point of view that will allow you to go around, go through or rise above the thought. “The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials.” - Chinese Proverb “Most of the important things in the world have been accomplished by people who have kept on trying when there seemed to be no hope at all.” - Dale Carnegie "Even if he fails again and again to accomplish his purpose -- as he must until weakness is overcome -- the strength of character gained will be the measure of his true success, and this will form a new starting point for future power and triumph. " – James Allen in ‘As A Man Thinketh’ "Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, that is strength." – Arnold Schwarzenegger, Muscle Man, Actor, Politician “Every adversity contains within it an equal or greater opportunity.” -- W. Clement Stone, created a personal worth of over $500 million in the 1960s “I trust that everything happens for a reason, even when we're not wise enough to see it.” - Oprah Winfrey “I would say that my... my preoccupation is with the power that we all possess individually, and I refuse to relinquish my power. So my preoccupation with a happy ending is, THAT is our power! The belief in that possibility IS our power, and don't give it away for anybody.” Will Smith, musician/actor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oENmXKKlCAI&feature=related Phil |

Hi Phil,
As I say in my signature, "Once I learned to herd cats, I realized that ANYTHING is possible"-for example, it is possible to make a great living doing art. What I am about to write reflect my own personal beliefs, but I am going to share them anyways. They are very much in line with Abraham-Hicks: I think that before we are born, we are in a state of pure spirit, and we choose to come to this dimension to experience the CONTRAST necessary for our Soul's growth. The process of learning to LOVE unconditionally through the various relationships in our lives is the journey. And when we are feeling GOOD, we are in a state of Love and in a state of Allowing the prosperity and abundance of the Universe to enter our experience. Remembering WHO we REALLY ARE, i.e., that we are Sovreign Beings of Light inhabiting a human body and having a human experience is the challenge. We are NOT our bodies! People like Rebecca and this forum have been instrumental in helping this Ancient Soul remember Who I Really AM. As for me, I chose to be born into a well educated but physically abusive and violent alcoholic home,(what the heck WAS I thinking-LOL Thanks so much for sharing. Hi Phil
thanks for your words of inspiration.Every day, opportunities present themselves to us to more than fill our present place. And this is key for me at the moment, as I am now climbing a mountain that I have not done before, an aim that I have no idea how I am going to achieve, and this aim is to create more income from my business in the next three months than the most I ever made in a single year. So, it means that I am going to put everything I have learnt to work, and experiment with new ideas! I am very excited by my new found desire to be more than I can be!What sparked this enthusiasm is a gift from Rebecca in the latest Between-issues update of the Certain Way ezine. What a wonderful piece of inspired writing, "A Blank Cheque waiting for you" by Gardner Hunting, thanks Rebecca Blessings Kevin "I think of life itself now as a wonderful play that I've written for myself... and so my purpose is to have the utmost fun playing my part."
