The Sciend of Getting Rich is inspiring me to live a great life so I decided to do something real fun this year for my birthday.
I decided to celebrate it for the entire month by doing things that I love and that express my gratitude. I have planned something everyday for the month of November and have included many of my friends. So far it's been a great experience. It has taken some work to come up with things but it's been fun and creative. I'm doing everything from a meditation gathering, comedy night at the local comedy club, going to the movies, going to a concert, lots of eating of my favoriate foods, an art gallery, a Museum, a Local Botanical Garden, the zoo and more. I even Planned my own surprised Birthday Party (I have no shame Tomarrow I'm going to Disneyland to celebrate the kid in me. Get creative with your Birthday's if you feel inspired. It can be a whole lotta fun. We can express our gratitude not just through words or feeling but by also doing the things we enjoy. Appreciation from the Heart Richard De Haven |

Last year for my partners birthday, I bought him a badge that said "kiss me, its my birthday!" He refused to wear it out but our young nephew did and got quite a few kisses from strangers!
For my birthday next year on the 2nd of January, is right when everything reopens and we're meant to go back to work! I told my partner last night thats not going to happen, We're going to have fun and do whatever I want! Its also my in-laws wedding anniversary the same day so we're planning a double celebration. You've given me plenty of great ideas to work with thankyou Richard! Shannon Live as if you have faith and faith will be given to you. |

When you go to Disneyland you can go to guest relations and ask for a button that's says Happy Birthday and your name on it. When you wear it all the employees are wishing you a Happy Birthday. Even had guests wishing me a Happy Birthday. It was cool. It's like everyone knew me. I had at leat a couple hundred wish me a Happy Birthday. It was the coolest thing.

Greetings all,
I love this thread. I hee-hawed all the way through it. You people are a stitch. My computer was clogged with some kind of ware for the last 3 days and I couldn't get my browser to open, consequently, I read your posts all the way through today. I had written in my notebook last night that today my computer would be working fine. So, today I figured out what to do, I just set it to restore function for a week ago before all this acting up started. It's working great now. It's like getting a do-over in real life. You can bet that my computer will be on my gratitude list for today. Back to the birthday topic, I haven't celebrated my birthday in 5 years. I think you guys have it right. My birthday isn't until June but the way I figure it, I have some catching up to do. Big party, starting tomorrow, you're all invited. No RSVP required, just show up, in non-flamable clothes. Georgia, bring John. Diane |

How about this Donna...make or buy a name tag and pin to your chest that says, "Today is My Birthday" and count the number of people who respond. The first thing you'll notice is they will say, "Is today your birthday?" hahahaha .... but the second thing you'll notice is that it always makes them SMILE. People LOVE to say "Happy Birthday!" It's like making instant friends!
I'm going to get me a birthday "hat." I love hats. So I'm making it a tradition that from now on, on MY day, I'm wearing my Birthday Hat. Guess what's going to be on the hat....yep, you guessed it, "Today's My Birthday!" ps--Rebecca, John says "Hey" ... WHAT?? Would I lie? teehee.... Hi Rebecca and Richard
You have both got me smiling, laughing...and thinking...my birthday is in 4 weeks time - so that gives me a week to plan a month of celebration! Then it'll be christmas so I'll celebrate that for a month, then it's my dad's birthday so we'll celebrate that for a month, and so on...and I can plan for 6 months of birthday celebration in 2007...and maybe the rest of my life celebration of being alive!!! Richard, LOVE the idea of a 'ways to celebrate your birthday book - and lets get the ball rolling with ideas...anyone got any ideas for my birthday celebrations?! Love Donna.x |

hehehehehe. This gives me an idea. HMMMM. maybe a small book on How to really celebrate birthday's. Here's a possible title ?It's my Birthday" 101 ways to have a crazy, fun, creative, and wacky birthday. HMMMMM......I"ll let this one jell with universal substance and see if there's divine inspiration there. That's what's great about Living SOGR. You'll see unlimited ideas all around you. It doesn't mean you'll do them all but you'll realize that it's always creating. IDEAS ARE UNLIMITED!!!!!! Jennifer, how I planned my celeberations, I looked at my previous lists of everything that I love doing and wrote out different possibilities for each. For example, I love art. So I looked up art shows in the local calendar section of the paper, I looked in the phone book for Art Galleries and called museums for any special events. As I did this with each item on my list, I realized there is a lot to do in Palm Springs. I always use to say that I love living here but there's nothing to do. Boy! was I wrong. I moved from L.A. 10 years ago where there is so much to do. It felt great doing this because it shifted my thoughts to absolute gratitude without even trying and it lead me to rediscover the city I love. Rebecca I love your story. I'd be willing to bet that people naturally flock to you because of the energy you are expressing. Appreciation from the Heart, Richard |

I suppose you could do that, Jennifer. You might want to hire Richard as a birthday consultant. Or ... instead of just PLANNING it, you could start CELEBRATING it NOW! Love & blessings, and, of course-- EXPECT Success! Rebecca |

Allright, I've gone from thinking "oh hell, another dam birthday coming up", to, "what sort of things do I want to do for it"? I've always been sort of depressed about getting a year older even though I know thats so stupid as theres no way I would want to turn back the clock and be younger again. In truth, I love getting older and I've loving the older me.
Thats a great story Rebecca! Sounds like your having a great time in Mexico! Shannon Live as if you have faith and faith will be given to you. |

Yes, I always say: If it isn't fun, it isn't mine to do!
Happy birthday, my friend! This year I'm celebrating my birthday for SIX MONTHS. (You think YOU have no shame, Richard! I don't even know what it IS anymore -- and, wow, is that ever a liberating thing!) I began by bringing myself to a whole 'nother country and ever since I got here (it'll be a month tomorrow) amazing things and delightful people have been happening. I just got off a phone call in which I told a new friend that I'm nearly overwhelmed with inspiration, delight, joy, and opportunity. I can hardly stand it! Yesterday afternoon after my Spanish class I walked into the center of town to buy some coffee and then I went and sat on a bench in the central square in front of the big church just to write a bit in my journal, people watch, and generally just grin at everything. After a few minutes a charming young man came up and asked -- in English -- if the group of young women with him could please talk to me to practice their English. They were high school students. I said, sure. I was delighted, actually. So they were all embarassed and cute as heck about it, trying to think of SOMETHING to ask me. And their English was every bit as funny as I'm sure my Spanish is. What's my favorite Mexican food? Where am I from? What's my name? What do I think of the Mexican people? Of Mexican men? and on and on. Once the ball got rolling ... Then a BUNCH of their classmates appeared, including guys, and soon there were about 35 kids and their teacher, Elena, clustered around me. We were all talking and laughing and it was such fun. Then one of the kids asked me, in English, "What do you believe?" Oh, boy! I'm not quite up to explaining SOGR and Law of Attraction in Spanish, but I gave it a pretty good shot. When they found out I have a WEB SITE -- woo hoo! Now that's something. They started asking for my autograph! I'm not kidding. So I signed dozens of notebooks: EXPECT Success! and You are amazing! This was hilarious and I kept telling them that next week sometime they'd look at that autograph and think who in the world is THAT? But they kept shaking their heads no, no, and being their charming selves. Well, the big crowd drew lots of attention so all these OTHER people started coming over to see who that was sitting on the bench, generating all the excitement. Lots of gringos were coming over, too, and the kids were telling them I was someone famous, so now all the tourists were craning their necks and looking at me curiously. I was just laughing the whole time. Finally, after about half an hour they had to leave but they asked me to come back to the park NEXT Tuesday and I said I would. What a hoot. Almost forgot: The last question they asked -- Elena asked it actually -- was this: "What do you think of the rampart?" "The rampart?" I said. I must have looked as confused as I felt, because Elena clarified: "The wall." Oh, now I know -- that silly idea to build a wall on the border. "It's stupid," I said, in English. And they ALL understood that! I added, "Well, in 1847 the United States stole half of Mexico and now the government wants to put up a wall and keep the Mexican people out. Why? Because a lot of people are afraid of things and people they don't know and don't understand. It's just a dumb idea based completely on FEAR -- and it won't work anyway." THAT was a hit. Well, I had another fun adventure right after that one with a charming older man who kissed my hand and invited me to dinner (and in fact he just called me on the phone a couple minutes ago so I have to go return the call). But, of course, that's another story! And another chapter in my Big Fun Birthday Book! Go have some fun, my friends! Celebrate something. Celebrate YOU!!! (Oh, and did I tell you that my "practice partner" in Spanish class actually IS someone famous? I practiced all kinds of tricky verbs and objects with him for two whole classes without knowing his last name and without ever consciously recognizing him -- although I DID think he was very good-looking. Then the night of the second class, I suddenly woke up at 3am and thought, oh, I know who he is! I used to watch him on TV. If you're near my age and grew up in the US you'd recognize him, too, and I'm happy to say that both he and his wife are just delightful, fun, generous people.) Love & blessings, and, of course-- EXPECT Success! Rebecca |
