Hello Fellow SOGRers!

I have a question. Or rather I'd like to hear your opinions.

I grew up in the diner-restaurant business. For 23 years, until 1999, I worked in our family business. In 1999 we were offered a very nice sum of money for our building. Well, my Father was 73 and wanted to retire. After 23 years in the field I wanted to try something different, so we sold. It was a local place, meaning that we were in a small town and knew, like family, all of our customers. We served great food! Comfort food!

I went into a different business and to make a long story short, it went belly up! I have been struggling ever since. All the money we received for our restaurant building I put into this new venture. So suffice it to say, it's all gone.

I have been studying the SOGR for 2 years now and love it!

About a year ago, I decided I wanted to get back into the diner-restaurant business. I'd like to get our old building back. BUT, I have no money to put into a venture like this. I have created a CMI and have been putting all my faith, focus and feeling into it! I feel that now is the time to make some calls looking for money to get my deal going.

My question is, do you folks think I should wait for something to just pop out of nowhere? Or, should I wait for the universe to plop it into my lap? By making some calls and contacts now am I pushing the formless? Am I trying to figure out the "how"? Or should I wait for someone or something to come to me?

Your thoughts would be appreciated!

Thank you all in advance!

God bless.

Bill,

The question, IMHO, is not whether or not you make the calls. But from what attitude are you making them?

Is it an attitude of fear, or an attitude of Certain Way Action?
The Formless will supply, but we will need to ask for it.

Hi and Thanks Caroline.

No. I'm not acting from fear here. I tend to want to "push" things along. I know some folks here might say that I'll know when to make my move. BUT, I have desired to do this for quite q while now. My CMI is clear, very clear. When should I just do it?

Bill,

I know where you are coming from because I have always tended to "push" for things. I do feel it is a fine balance between taking efficient and authentic action, which we should do, and trying to control the "How" and push for the "when".

As I have left more to the formless I have found things coming more easily with less resistance.

Thank you Dazzer. That is exactly where I am at present. Is formless giving me a little nudge or is it me giving myself the nudge?

Hi Bill,

Somehow your posts always resonate with me. I've found myself in a very similar position in the past year or so. I've been re-educationg myself to move out of the business that I'm in to do something far more rewarding. I've trained a replacement in my current business, and he's doing a great job, but until my new gig "kicks in" we're experiening a drop in income. So I sat and wondered, was this the right thing to do? Should I be calling cutomers to build more business? I think it's a very fine line sometimes between taking appropriate action and pushing too hard for the results that you want because that tingling in the pit of your stomach is telling you have to DO something NOW. I've kept off the "fear factor" as much as possible and have recently gotten a new partner, doing something that I really like and the benefits will be truly great. I sat and I waited, but I didn't just rest on my laurels, it took "finding" him and then realizing that we had the correct fit to make it happen. I think that it does take patience and tenacity to really take the right opportunity at the right time. Caroline's post is exactly right, you need to take action, but have to be very clear from whence that motivation to action is coming. Great topic.

Love Light and Laughter!

Do not give your creative impulse to Original Substance, and then sit down and wait for results; if you do, you will never get them. Act now. There is never any time but now, and there never will be any time but now. If you are ever to begin to make ready for the reception of what you want, you must begin now - SOGR, Chapter 11

Hi Bill,

It is difficult to say if you should or should not make the calls. What is the right thing for someone else to do may not be right for you.

My personal opinion is that you should take some kind of action in the direction of your CMI. Using the power of intention to set the forces of the universe in motion can be very powerful and amazing things can happen. But going for the money might not be the right action at the moment.

I will give you an example. About 15 years ago, I decided I wanted to start a business that I had ZERO knowledge of. In addition, I had ZERO money! I researched the business, wrote a simple business plan, visualized it in detail as much as possible, etc etc.

After looking at several local buildings as possible locations, I finally found one that was in need of much upgrading, remodeling, etc but was otherwise perfect for what I wanted to do and the rent and lease was reasonable for the space. I remember standing in that old buidling wondering HOW I could pull it together. Finally, I just said: "To heck with it..LETS GO FOR IT!"

Well, amazing things started to happen. First the landlord volunteered to give me 3 months before I had to start paying rent. People showed up out of nowhere to help with remodeling. I needed equipment for the business. A man appeared in our life who said he had what we needed in his garage. When I looked at it I knew it would work with some TLC. I asked him how much...he gave me a price and volunteered to work with me on paying until I got things running.

There are many more examples of what happened, but won't bore you with details. Bottom-line we got the business off the ground. We "looked" like we had invested thousands of dollars but had hardly any of our own money in the place (we didn't have any anyway) We were so broke the day we opened we didn't have change for the cash register! I am not kidding! Our first customer paid with a $20 bill and I ran across the street to get change..LOL Long story short within a few months we were very successful and the local newspaper came and wrote an article about us...Front page of the Lifestyle section....advertising better than any money could buy!

I site this example to point out that taking action toward what you want sets powerful things in motion and miracles happen to help you get what you want. Money may not be what you need right now. Just move toward what you want and what you want will move toward you.

Best to you,
Michael M.

Thanks Timmy & Michael. EXCELLENT replies! Made me think, which is always good!

Perhaps I should clarify. The "calls" I want to make are not necessarliy about getting money.

The present owner of my former restaurant is not doing very well. He has 2 very useful assets, however. A wealthy Mom & Dad! He has a shortfall at the end of every month.

I feel I know what he is doing wrong. His food is not very good and he has way too many employees. I do need to do more investigating to see what else is wrong.

One of the calls I want to make would be to him to see if , perhaps, he is ready to sell or lease or move on to something else. Then I'd like to talk to his Landlord about the rent and lease, etc. After obtaining this info. I'd like to call a friend of mine who was formerly my Accountant to get his opinion of the business. He has several cash connections and a great instinct about this sort of thing.

Should I make any of these calls? I really want to, OR should I wait for serendipity to toss something into my lap?

Well Bill..

It "sounds" like the timing is right. Based on what you are saying I think I would place the calls with an open mind and heart and see what develops. Making a few calls is "free" so why not? You never know where it will lead or what will open up to you.

Hi Bill ~
I agree with everyone else. What have you got to lose by calling? Seems you might have more to lose by NOT making those calls. Your friend who presently owns the business may be thinking about selling...even people who don't know about CMI have CMIs...and here comes your call. I say go for it. The worst that can happen is he says no...and even then he may consider it in the future and remember your offer. I think you're being motivated to call. JUST DO IT!!!!!!!

Bill,
if I were in your shoes
I would check that my desire
would add more life.
I would spend plenty of time dwelling on the delightful details that would show up while meditanting.
I would do so waiting for a wonderful vibration.
Your next move should be inspired.
Something that you feel inspired to do.
If you don´t feel inspired,do nothing.
Do the same things you already do while dwelling on your vision.
The formless stuff will get the call(if is in harmony with increasing life)and will start to influence everything.
And suddenly, you´ll receive a call back:
your inspired action.

Thank you!Obrigado!Grazie!
Ciao,Domenico

Hello Michael,
What a wonderful experience.

I have been busy with a project these few days and can't visit these forums as often as I would like to do.

But I am glad I came here this morning and read your above post.

Well it has made my day and given me energy and focus to do what I am engaged in doing right now. (Btw your PM is my AM)

Thanks

Best Wishes,
Fortunate

Hi Bill,

I have a thought. If you can see where this fellow is making a mistake and could correct him, why not think of a different way of being back in the diner business one you have not done before but will make you happy.

My idea would be to become a consultant for struggling diners. You could charge a fee and a percent royalty for increased profits for a certain period of time.

If you can enough of the actual running after 23 years this would be a nice change and still make use of your diner know how.

What'ch think,
Jim

Hi Bill,

I also believe that "action" is the key word here. Make the calls and see where it leads. Thought coupled with action is unstoppable! And you know what Wally says....."success builds upon success."

Much abundance to all,

Bill, if you feel that now is the time to make some calls, then it's extremely likely that now is the time to make some calls!

Remember that Mr. Wattles tells us that when our good comes to us it generally comes through other people.

Remember, too, that inspired action -- action that grows out of your focus, faith, and feeling is entirely different from merely motivated action, which may grow out of fear, uncertainty, and competitive mind.

Wally tells us:

"A day or two spent in contemplating the vision of what you want and in earnest thanksgiving that you are getting it will bring your mind into such close relationship with the supreme that you will make no mistake when you do act.

"There is a mind which knows all there is to know, and you can come into close unity with this mind by faith and the purpose to advance in life, if you have deep gratitude.

"Mistakes come from acting hastily or from acting in fear or doubt or in forgetfulness of the right motive, which is more life to all, and less to none.

"As you go on in the certain way, opportunities will come to you in increasing number, and you will need to be very steady in your faith and purpose, and to keep in close touch with the supreme mind by reverent gratitude.

"Do all that you can do in a perfect manner every day, but do it without haste, worry, or fear. Go as fast as you can, but never hurry."

As you continue constantly to make conscious choices as to what it is you truly desire (instead of just being in default mode like most people and letting outside influences determine everything) and continuously shifting your focus, faith and feeling onto those things instead of what you don't want, you'll find yourself feeling better and better, and best of all you'll find any confusion melting away like magic.

Love & blessings, and, of course--
EXPECT Success!
Rebecca
