Hello, All! Just downloaded the book today; had some very interesting dreams after reading about half of it. Seemed to be manifesting while I was dreaming, and the visions were very clear, as if they were reality--what I call a "prophetic dream."
Nevertheless, in thinking about SOGR afterwards (and even while reading it), I felt a growing tension in my chest and abdomen, and a growing sense of dread. The reason seems to be the "pink elephant" syndrome: Whenever you tell someone *not* to think of something (i.e. not to doubt, not to have negative thoughts, not to focus on what you don't want, etc.), it becomes all they can think about. I'm here because, although that system has been working very well for me and is more in accord with what I deeply believe, it doesn't place enough emphasis on positive focus. I'm here to learn to sharpen my ability to focus on what I want and the positive feelings that come with it. |

welcome Nicole!
It sounds as though your past experience has prepared you very well for the lessons Wally (Mr. Wattles) has to teach. Yes, there are lots of good tools to help release blockages and they can be very helpful. The main thing to remember now is that you get what you think most about. If you think a lot about "unconscious doubt" you're bound to get a lot more of it. If you think a lot about what you want, you'll get more of that instead. What I've learned from this course and forum is that good feelings bring good experiences. That means that the more ways you have to feel good, be happy, be grateful, etc, the more good things will come into your life. Now, my biggest fear focus on lack. I avoid being unhappy like the plague! I actually haven't done the Life Lab on getting a clear mental image yet. But when I read the book, I formulated some nice images of prosperity, security, serenity, and smiling people. A friend helped me to place myself inside that image so that I could feel the emotions that go along with being in that place. Since then, about a month ago, I've had several wonderful successes and a radical attitude change. I used to be a MAJOR stress case. I had just bought a business and I was terrified that the deal I made put me too far in debt and that I wouldn't be able to keep the business afloat. I was worried about my personal finances, my staff's financial dependence on my success, and about the customers who were depending on me to follow through with the previous owner's promises. I took every action I could think of and constantly worried that I wasn't working hard enough. After reading the book and starting this course, I let go of all of that. I now focus on feeling good, knowing that my business will succeed, and being grateful for each wonderful thing that comes to me. Oh, yeah -- and this has been my best month in total receipts, net profit, and new business. IT WORKS. keep posting to let us know how you're doing. Love and Blessings, Rachel |

Hey there
I am new too and I have the same feeling in my chest and abdomen that Nicole describes. I have just started the course and am full of hope and expectation but at the same time I carry so much doubt and negativity - which admittedly is buried in me - but it is there nonetheless. 3 months ago, I gave birth to my first baby and last week I started my new business. I am so anxious about this and in the past few days I ahve barely slepy through fear. It was then that I came across SOGR and like they say, "when the pupil is ready, the teacher appears" and boy am I ready. I want the business to succeed so I can work from home and not have to go back to work and leave my baby in childcare. I am currently on unpaid maternity leave and have 3 months to get my business up and running so I can leave work. Can I do it?? Of course I can but I need a little steering to get rid of the doubt and uncertainty. I look forward to sharing the stories of my success and hearing about everyone elses too... Lots of love, light and positive energy Buddhist Chick xx I am expecting success |

Dubai Girl,
I believe you need to overcome the fear of feeling good. The fear of feeling calm. The fear of feeling peaceful. The fear of feeling confident. The fear of feeling safe. The fear of feeling worthy and deserving of every good thing. The fear of feeling loved. The fear of feeling happy. Phil "The Universe is responding to how we feel." Esther Hicks |

I used to struggle with the idea of faith. In fact, I used see anything that required faith as a sort of a scam. Because how easy is it to blame any "failure" on the victim? "Well, it would have worked, but you just didn't have enough faith." See what I mean?
But now I realize that having faith doesn't mean eliminating every last shred of uncertainty. One stray thought isn't going to derail the entire project. It just means believing a little. We have to believe just enough to give it a good honest experiment. Treat it as a working hypothesis and really DO whatever is being asked. SOGR asks us to focus on what we want more than on what we don't want and to have gratitude. Whenever you get scared, just ask yourself, "Self, (tee hee - couldn't resist) are you really doing those things? Are you really focusing more on what you want than you are on what you don't want? Are you really grateful for what the universe has already given you?" If the answer is no, then you haven't really tried the system yet. Anyway, I agree with Caroline. Doubt and worry can be fleeting thoughts that are pushed aside by happy joy. Love and Blessings, Rachel |

A couple of great points here. Rest assured these concepts are solid and rooted in common sense. Ancient Wisdom (my code word for books such as the Bible) suggest that:
You can only serve one master and that it's always a choice - YOUR choice whom you will serve today. As for faith, it only needs to be the size of a mustard seed. But it IS one of the most important elements in the entire process. Remember that even Jesus never claimed to heal anyone. Instead, he would finish His 'miracle' with the words, "YOUR FAITH has saved you." Finally, don't try to eliminate ALL your fears and doubts. They are there for a very good reason, to protect you. For example, I live in a very busy part of Toronto. When the intersection light shows 'Walk', I STILL LOOK to ensure that it is safe to proceed. It's NOT paranoia or lack of faith and trust. It's SMART! It's one of the reasons I'm alive today! Sometimes you'll get those feelings in your chest, gut and wherever. It might be a good time to pause and think, "Is it SAFE for me to proceed?" Tony Robbins talks about using fear as a counselor and not a jailer'. Abraham tells us that negative emotions are an important part of our inner guidance system. Think of your feelings as a good friend. A true friend will alert you to danger, but they won't smother or nag you. They will honor and respect your right to choose. Thinking, even about THE WAY you think, makes all the difference in the world. I believe Rebecca is constantly reminding us about Mr. Wattles phrase, "to think in a CERTAIN WAY." Great points, Russ. I do trust my inner guide (which I call the Holy Spirit) but I know that often the doubt comes from the evil one (Satan) who only tries to discourage me. He does not deserve my attention
Paying too much attention to doubt. Could lead to perfectionism and not moving at all. When in doubt (as long as it is a moderate amount of doubt), in my case at least, I think it is wiser to put one foot forward and take action. I might learn from mistakes and have more fun than trying to think my way into a perfect solution where errors are impossible. Once I read in a book about writing, that you can use your doubts (or 'negative voice') in your favor. Simply by having a look at how you can formulate - the opposite - of what your 'negative voice' is saying.
'That way you might actually be thankful for having doubts!' Because...., Since I had some doubts about really achieving worthwhile measurable results with some of my Blogs, I just tested it, so just minutes ago I formulated the opposite: about simply feeling confident about achieving worthwhile measurable results instead. Because of this thought I realised that I hadn't been writing a lot in my Success Journal lately, So now I just did, and it did create a lot more feelings of confident about my results and I now realise that I did create some new worthwhile results After all, So now I also feel confident that some of the people reading this reply might actually get curious enough about what results I have created with my blogs recently that can be considered worthwhile. P.S. I appriciate compelling (keyword rich) comments that show that you enjoyed your visit to my Blog(s) and that you do find it worthwhile enough to re-visit again and again in the near future All the Best, To your Happy Inspiration, HP HP's Happy Home Business Blogspot |
