Speaking the things you have asked for

Hi all,
New to the forum and to SOGR for that matter. As this is all new, I have a question about sharing what we learn, especially when the concepts are just beginning to sink in. Specifically, in Chapter 8, Mr. Wattles says to..."Think and speak of all the things you have asked for in terms of actual present ownership."

My question is, speak to who? I'm wondering if I begin sharing my STRONG CMI for a new home with people not familiar with SOGR that they will not understand, so I will be forced to either downplay it (oh, the hope we're hoping to get), or start explaining the whole concept, which seems like it could easily lead to negative influence.

I'm 62 and own my own business, which through the reading and re-reading of SOGR, I've decided to grow instead of abandon. My son and daughter-in-law are going through SOGR at the same time, so I can share openly with them, but expanding (speaking) to those unfamiliar seems risky.

Hi Thom,

You are right to feel uneasy about sharing these ideas with people who are not receptive to them. Much has been said on these forums about that.

The Bible has the passage that says, ‘do not caste pearls before swine.’ This, to me, is not to say certain people are swine, as much as it is to say, some people just have really poor ideas about what’s possible, and they will mock anyone who believes in more. Why? For one, it threatens their beliefs about life. It makes them feel insecure, so they would try to make you feel foolish.

One important thing is, when you think of what you want, think in ‘present terms.’ But really, it’s more about FEELING in the present moments, how you would feel if you already had what you want. Feel the peace, the relief, the happiness you’d feel. Or, as Wattles says (I think it’s in Chapter 8) “enter at once into the full enjoyment of the things you want.”

Much more to be said on these matters.

In the mean time, welcome to this forum. Hope you will come back and read and share more.

Btw, I believe it can be a great thing, to have anyone to share with, who is also learning SOGR. You are very fortunate in this.

Phil

Hi and welcome,

First thing I think is to speak to yourself in those terms. Rather than think - I really want a particular home - think: I am so happy to have this home - and then the feeling will come and the home will materialise.

The other thing I learnt was how to describe what I do or what business I am in. For years I used to say: I have a little business or a small practice...and it stayed small. If you are expanding your business describe it when asked as a great business or something like that.

I'm sure others will have good comments to make -hope these help.

cheers
Pauline

Thanks Sharma, that is a very good point.

Frankly, I have been referring to our business as a "small business" for more than a decade. Funny, I called it small when we did $3 million in sales, and I called it small when it did $15 million in sales. Never thought of the contradiction, and "small" thinking I was projecting to others ...and myself.
