The part in chapter 16 where Mr. Wattles talks about failure really stood out to me as I read this chapter again.
To not be disappointed (when we want something but it doesn't materialize) but to thank God that the desire had been overruled and to go on with a grateful mind. "...keep your faith, hold to your purpose, and have gratitude..." That an opportunity so much better will come our way. Is this true for every circumstance and situation in our life? To not be disappointed when things don't go as we would like them to for every dealing throughout each day? I'd be interested in your thoughts. Brian |

Well, maybe a few examples might help:
Many years ago, my husband and I wanted to move house. On two occasions we got right to the point of exchanging contracts (in the UK that means that you've spent quite a bit of money) and the deals fell through. It was 'bad' enough that it happened the first time - by the second time we were devastated. But we started again and something prompted us to look in a different town, where we found a house. And we love it here. It's a beautiful Georgian town with fabulous architecture and the house we bought is now worth far more money than the ones we would have bought. More importantly, we have had so much happiness in this place because it has so much more going for it than the town we would have lived in. And we have a larger house with a bigger garden too. Then there was the job interview I went to last Christmas. I was all the way to getting the job - and it fell through. Within two weeks I'd seen something else to apply for, and I got that job, which pays far more than the first. Oh, and tomorrow I have an interview for a job which pays vastly more than the one I have. If I'd taken the job from last Christmas, the one tomorrow wouldn't have been interested in me. I might get tomorrow's job, or I might not. It doesn't matter - it's not part of my CMI. If I get it and I want to go to it, then it will be a stepping stone to my CMI. If I don't, then it doesn't matter. A friend of mine was made redundant in March. She hated the job and although she was mightily relieved not to go there any more, she was very fearful of having no income. But she had a payoff and spent six months looking for another job and actually enjoying recovering from the exhaustion that her job had caused. She's just started work elsewhere - less money but more pleasant. And if that moves her towards what she wants, then will redundancy and a smaller salary have been such a disaster? I think not. Edit to say - I forgot this one: I joined SOGR 6 years ago. At the time I was in a very dark place indeed. One day I was in a terrible state and the thought crossed my mind to contact someone here. She is now a close friend, although we've never physically met, and we have shared many laughs, triumphs and adventures. The reason for the dark place turned out to be physical illness, which I overcame in wholly SOGR ways: once I made up my mind that I would be well, all sorts of things came along to help me and now I'm recovered, I have a job and am making some amazing progress towards my CMI. But in that process I made several new friends and learned things I never would have otherwise. Hope this helps you. Wishing more to all and less to none Cal - going global |

Well Brian,
That quote by Wally holds in EVERY situation. It's very true. It's something you must believe with absolute certainty . Every adversity hold within it the seed of an equivalent or greater benefit. As a follower of SOGR, i believe you agree that nothing happens at random. Our God is a God of love. He want the best for us no matter how deceptive d appearance. When thing appear not to be going as planned all you have to do is to ask yourself " what is good thing about this situation," and if you are calm and relaxed enough, the answer will pop up for you. Also holding onto this belief prevent us from focusing on what we don't want and helps to keep our mind on our goal. You will do well to also believe with absolute certainty that " whatever you can think of and imagine you can create and achieve." That way no matter what dummies (in form of obstacles, things not going as planned, etc ) was put on your path, you will take it in your stride, laugh heartily and continue to your destination. In short, don't let appearances deceive you. Successfully yours. Abdul. |

Thanks for responding Cal and Abdul. I think I have had a breakthrough--an ah ha. The circumstances/events that use to cause fear, concern and stress can now be considered necessary or simply a part of my journey. I can look at what is going on and tell myself that what ever is happening is necessary for the achievement of my CMI. I can relax and remain calm.
Am I understanding this correctly? Brian |

Brian, You can tell if your understanding is correct by how you feel. Does your understanding allow you to feel calm, at ease, confident and happy? Or, do you feel uneasy or afraid? Phil "The Universe is responding to how we feel." Esther Hicks |

I would have to say that I still feel uneasy.
But I think I can get to the calm and easy feeling I'm wanting with practice and remembering that everything, down to the last detail of each situation, is happening according to God's plan. And I know I will have lots of opportunities to practice. Sometimes it just feels like I'm trying to talk myself into thinking this way. Sometimes I think this is such b.s. But I do want to live my life in a calm, easy manner. I don't want to struggle. So I say to myself, I can let go of thinking things have to play out a certain way. For example, that my spouse has to act a certain way, that there is enough $$$ to pay the bills, and on and on with things working out just right. So I'm back to simply letting go of thinking things have to be a certain way for me to be calm and at ease -- no matter what. I believe I can make that line of thinking work for me. Brian |

Hi Brian
It sounds to me as if you are making this hard work. You are falling into the trap of using all your past programming, to try and make sense of the future. You must NOT concern yourself with the HOW, what you know and have ALLOWED to happen so far in your life, has got you to here, so if you want to go into uncharted waters, you will have to create a new faith and belief, and accept some information, that may not actually make sense to you at this point in time. If your thoughts are only superficial, and DEEP down you still have limiting beliefs, it is impossible to move on, because your core thoughts MUST be in line with your beliefs. I found this a very hard thing to overcome, but once you realise that, you cannot kid yourself, and you truly have faith in achieving your goals, it ALL falls into place. The reason you trust your negative thoughts, is that they are ALWAYS right. "That wont happen" That's impossible" "What if this happens?" "I don't deserve it" Etc. etc. The reality is that almost all of your negative thoughts are wrong, but you BELIEVE them and that is what makes them happen. Just put the same amount of trust and certainty into your positive new thoughts, your CMI and any other vision, and Hey Presto! you are off and running. You must realise, that you are totally re arranging your thinking, and it is how you ALLOW this to happen that will determine how quickly you see results from these teachings. Read the course notes on 'Truth versus Appearance' I hope that helps. Abundance to All Croz |

Croz, I feel this is hard work. It is very hard to not know what's going on around you and react to it. I have very low self esteem and because of that never really acheive what i desire. And I know this is backwards and it's really hard to break this. I can go a couple of days feeling good and then something happens and wham!! back to the harsh reality?? I have struggled with this for years and it sounds really easy but it really hard to break the reality thing.

Hi Barbara.
There is no other way to explain this. As I said it is not easy, because you are battling your old programming. You will find though that if you stick to it and monitor results, the next time you have a little more faith. I am working on a separate module for the course, that will deal exclusively with this aspect, because it is the key to all results, but is so hard to master. Look forward to hearing all about your journey. Abundance to All Croz |

Very enlightening post, Croz
As with all things worth undertaking, I really think that anyone willing to change for the better, have to take it one step at a time, in other words, as someone famous was quoted saying and I am paraphrasing here, that you only need to be able to see the next step, and have total faith in taking that step, as you are not required to see the whole staircase all at once Croz has mentored many people in the SoGr way to success, and I sincerely thank you in advance for the valuable contributions you are making on this website. Barbara, It looks like you’re fairly new here. May I please welcome you and invite you to look around and read posts and share your thoughts more. You say you have low self esteem. I think this would be one of the first things you need to heal, in order to manifest whatever you truly desire. It seems to me, one’s sense of self is the FOUNDATION upon which every aspect of one’s life is built. I recently wrote a post, and deleted it because no one responded to it. I am going to put it up again and link it here. Maybe there will be something in it to stir in you the idea of what I believe is your ACTUAL worth – unlimited, precious, and unconditional. Feel Wonderful I hope you read it and find something of value in it, something you can FEEL GOOD about. Phil "The Universe is responding to how we feel." Esther Hicks |

Dear FIELDS,
There may be many who do not agree with the way Croz (Ian) is revamping this SOGR site...but the fact remains, he is the one that has taken on that task...at the request of Rebecca. If you so admire Rebecca, you would honor her request and not try to create unrest or bad feelings. In addition, if you were truly understanding and practicing the SOGR principles, you would know that your recent posts are not in line with those principles. Maybe you should take some time and reread the book and all of Rebecca's posts instead of spending your time criticizing Croz. Change is not easy for some of us (myself included) when it comes to the things we dearly love. And we all love the SOGR and Rebecca! Wow! my heart is leaping for joy right now!
Just like Brian said: "Sometimes it just feels like I'm trying to talk myself into thinking this way. Sometimes I think this is such b.s." I feel like this only when I am off my 'center'... Just changing the way I think has been very hard work and still a work in progress. I feel there's still some secret that I'm just not getting. The reason I say this is because after all my work, the money is not 'flowing' the way I want it to. I have a lot of money tied up in great ideas with no money to execute them. So I'm 'idea rich, but money poor'. Maybe through my activity and contributions here on SOGR I will start realizing my dreams flowing a little easier...by the way, what is CMI? Peace, femineen |

Brian,
This is meant to be helpful. If it is NOT then please cast it aside.
What about all this still makes you feel uneasy?
What, exactly, will you be practicing?
I don’t know what you’re talking about here. For example, if you’re short of money, are you saying this is part of God’s plan? I thought God’s plan for each of us is to live an abundant life, with plenty of all the things we need. Can you explain what you mean by “everything, down to the last detail of each situation, is happening according to God's plan”? Phil "The Universe is responding to how we feel." Esther Hicks |

Femineen, Being ‘idea rich’ to me, is a very good place to be. But, it seems to me, a part of your ‘problem’ is you’re believing, “It’s going to take **YOUR** money for you to make money,” in that you said you have, “great ideas with no money to execute them.” I’m reminded of a question Deepak Chopra once had. One of his advisors at the time told him he needs to go ahead with the great plans he had. But Deepak said, “I don’t have the money. Where will it come from.” And his advisor said, “From wherever it is now.” It seems, if you have great ideas there are people who have money to support the ideas, aka venture capitalists, philanthropists, etc. T. Harv Ecker, the multimillionaire creator of the Millionaire Mind Intensive seminars says that ‘lack of money’ is a myth, but if you believe in it, you EXPERIENCE it. It seems to me you may not have a ‘lack of money’ problem. You may have a ‘lack of connection’ problem, as in, you haven’t met the people with whom you could monetize your idea(s). Hi Barbara, Well, maybe it will be a lot of work, or maybe it won't. The reason I say this is because I know that even 'hard' is a belief, and not necessarily true. For example, I play the piano and I was playing Dave Brubeck's 'Blue Rondo A La Turk' and my son was watching and I knew he was thinking, "That's hard." So I took a moment and showed him how it was really quite easy. I slowed it down and showed him what my fingers were actually doing. I showed him how to duplicate it. Of course he couldn't instantly do it with the speed and accuracy I was doing it, but I got him to emulate my finger movements and play the notes in the correct order, and it did change his belief about what I was doing. He realized it wasn't really 'hard' at all. Blue Rondo A La Turk I believe there is some easy way for you to have high self esteem. I believe it may be centered on just coming to a general understanding of what it means to be a human being. It seems to me, for example, the Christian Bible 'speaks' to what is essentially true of all human beings. Of course it gives some examples of how awful humans can be. But it also gives us some fundamental ideas of what it is to be a human being. It says, for example, that we are 'children of the most high,' and 'Children of God' 'worthy and deserving of every good thing.' “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” Luke 12:32 It also says that Jesus came so that we would experience 'life more abundantly'. So, if these things are true for ANY human, they must be true for you. Or, maybe I'm mistaken and you're not a human being? (joke) Here's what I think: If ANYONE is worthy and deserving of love and a wonderful life experience, then, we ALL are. And so, any thought or belief that we have that is contrary to this idea is an erroneous or mistaken belief. Isn't this so? What do you think? By the way, I'm not saying we don't make missteps, or errors in judgment. But this, to me, doesn't mean we ought to condemn ourselves. To me, it's like children spilling milk. To me, even so-called horrendous mistakes are just like children spilling milk. Does it make any sense to condemn a child for spilling milk? Of course not. So, similarly, I believe we need to be as kind towards OURSELVES in our thinking, as we would want to be to any child. Sometimes I'll look at a baby and think: This is what we all came from. This is what we ALL essentially are. I think high self esteem hinges on just remembering who we ALL essentially are. Hope that helps a little. Phil "The Universe is responding to how we feel."
