Good Day All,
This occurs frequently in myself and was just wondering if others experience this. When attempting to adopt new ideas and habits into myself, my "inner voice" begins to cast self-doubt into the mix and although logically I accept a new idea, I start to question it emotionally. I do my best to keep focus but doubt and negativity tend to have an "attractiveness" that's hard to shake. It's at this point I read from Wattles: "...There is no labour from which most people shrink as they do from that of sustained and consecutive thought. It is the hardest work in the world." How true that statement is and it does give me comfort. I would like to hear from others about their methods to maintain "sustained and consecutive thought" in order to cast OUT self-doubt. Sincerely, Peteymenno |

What has often worked for me is to change the belief with a step by step process,
Step 1 Wouldn't it be great if I did believe.....? Step 2 I'm willing to just imagine that I did believe.... Step 3 I'm beginning to believe.... Step 4 I believe.... Step 1 is often very easy for me to feel comfortable with, so I can quickly move to step 2. I may need to think that one for a while, some days or weeks even, and then I find I'm ready to move up to step 3. And then Step 4 becomes attainable - it's hard work to jump straight up four huge steps, you might even fall off, but doing it one step at a time can make it manageable. Hope this helps Best wishes Odemira |

Yes, I totally agree with Odemira. If you also search on my posts, you'll find a couple about a system called a 'six step reframe', which helps you to discover what that voice is trying to do for you (usually it's a form of protecting you or keeping you 'safe').
Another method is to use EFT or Z-point and if you search on the web you'll find how to do these. They are very good for getting rid of the 'yeah, buts'. I have just completed an exercise of writing down 101 things that I want. Last year I couldn't do it because of exactly what you describe. This time, after all the work (using all the above methods and more besides), I did it in a very short time indeed - and it felt so exciting. So stick with it! And if you haven't already signed up for the Practical Geniuses course, please, please do so. Wishing more to all and less to none Cal - going global |

Hi Peteymenno, I totally relate with this self doubt - that has been up til recently a big one for me to live with and doing this course has helped move me over into positive thought patterns - and although it takes practice it has been really very simple and amazing. I simply catch the doubting thought form, and turn it into a thought form that I actually want to have, which is much more fun! Also remembering Wattles words :- "No thought of form can be impressed upon Original Substance without causing the creation of the form." So keep those thoughts of what you want coming. Those ones of self doubt, simply zap 'em. Otherwise they too, head for you! Tee Enjoy realising ... makes it easier |

Thanks Folks!
The advice from everyone is encouraging and I will put it to work starting tonight. It's especially encouraging to hear from those that are or have experienced the same feelings and self doubt and can see through it. Also, thanks for the speedy replies. Cheers Peteymenno |

I remember being told once that the negetive little voice you hear is your inner child and that you need to comfort, because they are just trying to keep you 'safe' and stop you from venturing out into the unknown. Whenever a negetive doubt creeps in, (which they do all the time) I tell myself that there isn't a problem and that everything always works out for the best. The negetive voice is definantly a lot fainter than it use to be!!
There is a lot of great tips on here and I'll be putting some of them into practise as well. Shannon Live as if you have faith and faith will be given to you. |

Hi Peteymenno,
LotusElan said that very well. Keep those thoughts of what you want coming. When a negative thought pops into my mind I acknowledge it, or monitor it and then just drop it. The method works very well. Those thoughts doesn't have any power by themselves, without my focus, without my attitude being on the same wavelength so to speak. It's my own choice. If I feel down I know I have the power to snap myself out of it. Remember, you are in control here. Repetition, reading (some of) the book on a daily basis helps. Changing your habitual thoughts doesn't happen overnight, give it some time. The "inner voice" protecting you _I think_ is a good thing. I wouldn't go around tamper with it with some crash guide brainwashing or mind control techniques, breaking it down fast to build something new or whatever. Call me old fashioned, and please forgive my ignorance, but I've seen some ehm strange results. I can relate to your doubt, when I first read the book I got stuck on details. I could not bypass this by just thinking "Wouldn't it be great if I did believe..." etc because my "inner voice" would kick in for protection. Well, my approach was to accept this science (like any other science) as a model of reality. Once inside, wonderful things will start to happen |

Worry not - I would never write about anything I didn't a) understand and b) recommend. EFT etc does not control your mind, and the only barriers you break down are those that are trying to protect you by keeping you stuck fast. When Wattles wrote about there being no labour from which people shrink... etc, etc, he knew what he was talking about. The good thing about the great leaps that have been made in psychology, NLP etc since then is that we now have tools that can reduce that work load. Note, I say 'reduce' not 'obliterate'! And, of course, there is no need for you to do anything if you don't want to. Hope this helps. Wishing more to all and less to none Cal - going global |

I suggest you forget about ¨casting¨ out anything. That´s a kind of thinking that focuses you on what you don´t want. (All resistance is that kind of thinking.) Instead just start thinking about what you DO want, what makes you happy. When you find yourself feeling less than that, don´t try to jump all the way to yippy-skippy. Just gently shift your thinking to anything that feels better than that negative thought. It´s not a black-and-white, right-or-wrong thing but more of a scale or ladder and the higher you go on it (the more delightful the thoughts you are entertaining), the more you are impressing THAT kind of thing and therefore ATTRACTING that kind of thing. Love & blessings, and, of course-- EXPECT Success! Rebecca |

Go thru the memories of your life and look for examples of the idea. You've probably experienced it at some point. |

Ah welcome to the human race!
Another way that I use sometimes is to really 'allow' my self to feel what I don't want Then I imagine a beautiful favorite spot maybe a beach or tranquil garden. Then I 'allow' myself to really feel what it would be like if I had what I want. Hope that makes sense? This whole process can take only a minute or more..whatever works for you. Play with it. |

I´d recommend that you really NOT do this as when you do it, THAT is what you are impressing, strongly. Love & blessings, and, of course-- EXPECT Success! Rebecca |

I use SOGR in conjunction with The Sedona Method/Releasing Technique, which is a structured way of letting go of whatever emotional spill-over, gets in the way.
Actually - a CMI/vision/goal would be used to call up any kind of resistance, in order to get the inner freedom to manifest/demonstrate your CMI. It seems like all "Gurus of manifesting" advises us to let go of any emotional charges, positive and negative. |
