Dave,

I relate 100% to what you're going thru. In a sense, this isn't really about whether or not to take the PG course. I just want to say, DON'T GIVE UP, my friend. Smile

Honestly acknowledging and watching what's going on inside of you is the first step. I wouldn't recommend going on those high powered meds just yet. Wink

You have the desire.

Jay

Some of you may already read Steve Pavlina's blog, but for those who don't, you might find it VERY interesting.

Here are two wonderful articles... One about why manifesting intentions can sometimes take so long, and the other about HOW Steve's actually creates his intentions.

Article 1 - Why so long?

Article 2 - How

Enjoy!

Great Site MaudMan,thankyou for bringing it o my attention.

Hi Dave,

Lots of people have answered your first question (will doing the course make a difference?)and no one has remarked on your second question (should I just give up and seek professional counseling and/or high-powered meds?).

I rather like the second question because I'm ADHD and I know all about skipping around. I also studied engineering for a while in a former life, so I know a little bit about flow charts, analytical skills, and logical consequences.

The name Richard Branson comes immediately to mind. Now, there's someone who is ADD and reallyknows how to skip around: a record company, an airline, telephones, and now, I understand that he's got a going-to-the-moon project starting up in southern New Mexico. Wahoo!! and let my so-called "disability" increase to its outer limits! ADD/ADHD is not going to stop a person from actualizing his/her dreams or from manifesting the seemingly impossible. In fact, as Richard Branson shows, it might just give us "handicappers" that little bit of an 'edge' which makes our dreams just a little bit wilder than the ordinary.

2) If you choose the right counselor (and I prefer Jungians) and you can afford $200/hr to rehash and reorder your past in order to get to the root problem (which, as it turns out, is always that we are only human), then I say GO for Counseling!! You might find that a few hundred hours of personal analysis will bring you back to the SOGR website with an entirely new attitude.

3) And high-powered meds are an option too. I tried Effexor once and I buzzed for a week --not bad if what you're looking for is a buzz, and an expensive one at that. The prescription was something along the lines of $360/month.

The trouble with meds is that while they might bring the ADD down to normal functional levels (and you're already functioning in a way that's normal to you, aren't you?), they might also interfere with precisely the qualities that got you through engineering school in the first place. ("Be careful when you cast out demons that you don't cast out the angels too.")

It seems to me that you're turning a simple chocolate/vanilla sort of choice into angst and drama: "Do I? Don't I? Oh me. Oh my" --when all you really need to do is to choose. Flip a coin, if you will. Or just ask youself whether you're willing to suspend all of your disbelief, depression, and 'disability' for two months and give this a shot. You might just surprise yourself by finding out that it really does work and that you're the next Richard Branson to appear on the horizon!

Whatever choice you make, I'm in complete support. If you want them, I can even give you the name of my former analyst and the Rx number for the remaining meds that I didn't refill.
Cheers!
Mica

Hi!
Well if you believe depression runs in your family well then you'll be depressed. It's very important that we talk to ourselves in a positive manner.

I was also a skeptic and a great cynic, everybody used to love my cynical comments except now I'm not cynical anymore! I've even changed the company I keep. We're all positive now and I make the odd cynical remark about the cynics and skeptics!
