I wonder why...

I just wonder,
Why is it that people either think of the book as 1)really, really great or, however insulting it may sound to us, 2)"total rubbish"?

There must be something that makes some people connect to the author in a way that others can't. I wonder what that is. Are we born this way?

What do you think?

Sometimes, I think it's better to not take the risk of trying to share knowledge or wisdom until you truly make it your own, so that the value of what you want to share becomes more obvious to whom you intend to share it with.

As I face the reality that some people, including many who are quite intellectual, just don't "get it" as we do(or do we?) when we read the book for the first time, it makes me feel bitter about their not knowing the value of something, to my not being able to truly share it. This, on the other hand, is reason enough for me to be very, very grateful as I am among those who perceive the value of the book.

Anyway, I am grateful for the passion Wallace's teachings, most notably the SOGR, has ignited in me. It rings true to my heart, to a part of me which seems to be waiting to be brought to life.

P.S.S.
I just signed up for the Practical Geniuses Course and am looking forward to begin participating actively in this forum.

Is anyone here from Seoul?
The SOGR was published in Korea several times over but the translation doesn't seem as good as it could be and I think this repels potential readers...

Hi SkyBluePaisley,

It's just that some people are ready to accept the truth, while others are not. Unfortunately, you just have to let them be in the hope that they will one day be able to read it through and relate to its contents. I think most of us feel we were led to this site (I know I did) and I think that's because we were ready to accept SOGR. In the beginning I ran off a couple of copies and gave them to people. Whether they got around to reading them or not, I'll never know. I know one person said she still didn't have the chance yet, so I think when/if she's ready for it, then she'll get around to reading it. I've also sent a few people the email link to the site, but again, whether they actually read the book or not, I don't know. I didn't mention it and haven't tried to push it on anyone because everyone has to live their life by their own free will. I have got annoyed in the past with people I've known who have been stuck in a rut and who weren't even willing to listen to any positive thinking, let alone read SOGR. You just have to let them be and hope that they'll eventually see the light.

Angel hugs x

I read similar books a few years ago and thought that they were "hogwash"....but when I read SOGR a month ago, I was ready to receive the information and it meant so much at this time in my life. It must be a personal thing and what stage of awareness that you are at.

I tried to share SOGR with an online friend of mine, who is quite depressed and happens to be a psychologist. She said that 90% of her colleagues don't believe in the Law of Attraction, etc. Normally I would have lost faith and believed her, but now I can just feel pity for the people who just don't "get" these principles. They really make sense of the whole reason for living.

Hi Skybluepaisley,

I used to think like this, but it was merely action our of fear, fear of what other people may think of me, but that is not really the point is it?

And letting the opinion of other, more intellectual people weigh heavier than my thinking.

But now I figured, there are always people gonna think things about me or SOGR, and I really don't care what those things are, because SOGR touched my soul, and I know that this is the way the world works.

And yes I share it with other people because I saw that the more I talked and thinked about it, the more it is getting a part of my being, the faster my life is changing in wonderful ways, the better I become to talk and thing about SOGR.

So you see it is a WIN WIN situation here.

It is about everyone changing themselves so that eventually the world changes for the better.

Have a wonderful day!

Hi all,

I agree with roos that "the more I talked and thinked about it, the more it is getting a part of my being".

Even Stephen Covey advise us to share the things we learn with others within 48 hours after learning it so that we can have a deeper understanding of it.

However, I find that sometimes when you go out and "preach" things to others, others will not even take notice of you. Well, my girlfriend is an example.

I come to realise that we should not "preach" to others. Instead, we should just live as we would.

Eventually, their curiousity will take hold of them and they will automatically approach us and ask about the positive changes in us.

Do not reach out to people as they won't know why you are there. Instead, wait for people to come to you and be their guide. Until then, they'll not appreciate the help you can offer them.

In simpler words, do not reach out to others. Instead just offer a helping hand to those who reach out for you.

Just my 2 cents opinion.

Regards
Zach

I believe that the Universe sent SOGR to me when I was ready to receive it. Others may or may not be ready. I have a friend that I have talked with about it. I will print off the book and give it to her the next time we meet. She is interested in the idea, but I'm not sure if she if she is actually ready to put the ideas into practice. That will be between her and the Universe.

Hi Zach,

It is not that I am preaching the whole day! But you know your thinking changes through SOGR, so does your behaviour and reaction to things that happen throughout the day. For example no negative talking for me, at least I am very conscious of that now, I will not go that road, so if people are doing that in my presence I will give them my 2 cents.

And yes, you are right people are noticing differences in behaviour, I find that people even ask me for it, or for advice! Big Grin

I am absolutely nowhere near the end of my travels, but beautiful, wonderful changes have taken place and people cannot help but notice it also Smile So that gives me always something to talk about, and I LOVE to talk about SOGR.

BLESSINGS

I have to agree that when the student is ready the teacher appears concept. Although the teacher can appear several times and the student will recognize her when it's the right time.

I have been tuned in to the Abraham teachings lately and realized that I had been given one of the tapes probably 5 to 10 years ago and set it aside and never listened to it again. Now it clicks. Now is the right time.

So there is hope for us all! Sometimes it takes the right mix of synchronicity for someone to open their eyes to something. It's all in Right Timing for that person on that path. It's all good!

All the best,
Dawn

By Abraham teachings, are you referring to Abraham-hicks?

Yes, I am. Good stuff that sounds like Mr. Wattles all over again. It's great that there are so many wonderful places to hear the same words!

All the best,

Yes AngelEyes I agree with you 100%.
Everybody has right to live their life as they wish.

There is not the slightest necessity for doing so. Indeed, any attempt to use your will upon others will only tend to defeat your
purpose.
