Am I crazy or what??

Hi everyone

Tell me if you think I've lost the plot......

As of today, my income generating eBook package 'How do I get started with my marketing?' is available for automatic download from my website, with absolutely no guarantee of payment for me other than an appeal to basic human decency that people will pay for it if they genuinely like it.

To date, the package has been available with an obligation free five day review anyway - so this approach is really not all that different I guess - except that it doesn't give me the opportunity to collect all those precious email addresses from when people ordered it for the free review. So far, the five day review approach has worked well (surprisingly, the dishonest ones are relatively few), but now I really want to take it to the next level.

I've done all this because after reading the likes of Think and Grow Rich, The Science of Getting Rich and the Rich Dad Poor Dad books, it has really hit home to me about the importance of giving before getting. But am I doing it in the right way?

My question I suppose is this - will people respond honestly? I.e. if they like and indeed use the package, are they like to give voluntary payment - or will I just be taken advantage of??

I really would appreciate your thoughts on this. Take a nosey at the site if you like to fully understand what I'm rambling on about. (www.tamaralyster.com)
Cheers,
Tamara

Hello Tamara,
After reading your understanding about giving I think your really have the answer already. Just keep doing what you are doing and stop thinking about it, or should we say worrying?
When I started worryiing about my business weird things started happening. So I am learning daily as we all are. I was putting out a negative energy by doing this.
Just follow the path that feels right and use your intuition. Sometimes it feels uneasy or different. But that's OK...doing things in a different or a "Certain Way" can feel that way. And then it starts feeling "EASY" and second nature. Some people may never understand what you are talking about if you try to explain it, but if it is working!! Who Cares.. It doesn't matter!

I'm not sure where in the book that "giving before getting" concept appears, but my first instinct is that you have it a little off. If you are selling a product, you have every right to expect prompt full payment for it. You don't have to give it away. Put it out there - put a price on it, and feel sure that it will find its way to the people who need and want it and are willing to pay. If you want to give it away, that's a different story. Then do that - give it away, and do it joyfully. But when you judge people's "basic human decency" by whether they pay you, you are sort of working both ends of the stick... you aren't giving them something - you are testing them and then being judgemental.
Expect Success, as Rebecca says. If you believe in your product - go out there and expect it to sell, if that's your goal. If your goal is to give something away - then do so. I'm repeating myself here... but I think you get my idea.
Just my two cents.
Good luck and keep us posted.
Hannah

Kim,

Thanks for that. You are exactly right, sometimes we just have to go with our intuition even if it seems initially unlikely. My inituition told me to go with this approach, and it's telling me to stick with it - though I'll admit that I still can't understand how it will work.

I guess that sometimes you just need another person to tell you what you already know anyway, and you've done that for me.

Cheers
Tamara

You have already proven that you can collect money from honest customers.

It will continue if you envision it to be so.
