Every morning I wake up beseiged by negative thinking. Seems like the harder I try to replace those thoughts with positive ones, the stronger the negative thoughts become. SOGR tells me to choose a better thought, but each time I think about good things happening, the opposite thoughts come crashing in.

Any advice on how to turn this around?

Thanks,
Anya

Jomilig is right, everything is a process.

Be thankful for those negative thoughts, they lead you to thoughts of what you want. The contrast 'as Abraham says' gives you a clearer picture of your desires (CMI).

As you practice turning your thoughts towards your desires becomes quicker and effortless.

What works for me is to be ok that it is going to take some time for these negative thought to leave you. I am currently in the process of elimating negative thoughts, so when they come, i say BRING IT ON!!! Everything is a process and if it takes a while before you wake up in the morning in a good mood, its ok!!! Also, be thankful for everything, i'm thankful for everything around me, the air, the chair im sitting on, my ten fingers and toes, the itch on the back of my neck, the arguements i get in, when i look stupid, etc, etc

Hi T

I rarely watch the news or read a newspaper because it is all doom & gloom being reported. As soon as some starts the 'good news press", I'm in!

Anya - you've gotten great responses here (as you always will!)....

Another thing that has helped my husband is to not watch the news before going to sleep. I don't know if that's a habit for you, but it is for alot of folks in the U.S. It's like feeding data into a computer - garbage in, garbage out!

Also, there are SO many things to be grateful for on a daily basis. I said a big THANK YOU for the clean, warm water supply for my shower today! It's one of life's simple pleasures, but I am SO grateful for it.

Regards,
T

Well, I myself am having so much fun with this that I decided to use part of this thread as the "Wrap Up" in today's edition of The Certain Way.

Thank you all for the idea!

EFT is based on a mixture of behavioural kinesiology, NLP, psychology, neuroscience and acupuncture/meridians and involves tapping with your two fingers on specific places on the face and body in a systematic way while saying a key word/phrase about the emotional issue. The tapping releases the chemicals of emotion from the neural network and dissipates the distress about the issue/memory etc. It is absolutely brilliant.

I would strongly suggest EFT, the elimination process using that can be rapid.

Thank you for the beautiful reminder of going to bed and waking up in the same mind frame! What I do tonight affects my mind tomorrow. So I'm staying "silly".

Having as much fun as possible!

Journal the thoughts and see if there is a common thread or theme. I would strongly suggest EFT, the elimination process using that can be rapid.

I'm so happy I've found this forum -- thank you for snapping me out of an ungrateful moment!

I spend a lot of time every day feeling grateful, and sometimes get stuck in that comparing/competitive attitude.

How did you all come to know these things?

Practice! Wink

What's the famous quotation from author Rita Mae Brown? "Good judgment comes from experience, and often experience comes from bad judgment." Well, that's what "practice" is.

No one is on-course all the time (or even most of the time). Navigating -- on the ocean or in life -- is all about paying attention to where you are, where you want to go, and CORRECTING.

I've also read the Abrah-Hicks book, "Ask & It Is Given" & forgot about that game. After I've gotten SOGR principles down, I'll re read that great book !

Thanks for reminding me.
