Just one more thing. How do I give back to people more than their cash market value? By giving them good service and wishing them a fabulous day? I'm a little vague on that. Just not exactly sure of what that means. Thanks again for your help. Roll Eyes

Yes, it could mean that, absoultely!! Silently blessing your customers can make them feel good around you. However, as Mr. Wattles says, you need to make sure that you don't rob them by selling them something they cannot use to better their life. Also, more in use value then cash value means once you sell them something that will better their life, the value of the betterment needs to be better then what they paid in cash for it. In other words, you could'nt chew the bubble gum without good teeth and selling someone bubble gum with bad teeth will do them more harm than good. But by selling him a good restorative toothpaste will give them more in use value than in cash value. Get it now?

Let me know if you need more help getting this portion of the text becasue its the key to getting rich and also making friends.

Actually, the Feature Article in the February edition of The Certain Way had quite a lot on this very topic!

(BTW, I'd very much like to turn off this "poll" feature! Can't see that it adds anything to the discussion here and is a bit confusing, perhaps. Got to go check with the techies ...)

Many blessings, and, of course--
EXPECT Success!

Thank you Rebecca and DavidJay. I think I'm getting it. Of course I'm just a cog in the wheel, so to speak. I'm a cashier at present and really have no control over people's purchases. Unless they ask me directly. Then I can help them. I do see what you are saying. And slowly I'm beginning to understand. The responses to my posts are truly helping me. My biggest problem right now is my imagination, or lack thereof. I cannot decide on a plan of action. However I have been inspired in an interesting way to write a book. Nothing like SOGR. But more about common sense, and experiences I have had in life. I find it funny how this has come about, and I won't bore you with the details which are all rather obscure unless you are me. It is odd that my whole life I have loved writing stories and articles. I even wrote a newspaper column for a time. Which was a wonderful experience. I think this is the path I am to take. And I have already started my manuscript. And I continue to use my motto....."There is Magic in Believeing"

I must work on losing my competive edge, and continue to be grateful. I'm seeing results already. Even before I discovered SOGR I had results. But I see how it works. I'll keep reading the posts and continue on my path. And I'll keep you up to date on my progress.

Thank you again for your input! Its very much appreciated!

Hi Pony

This is the example i remember when thinking of this - imagine if the book weve all read "The SOGR" we had to pay x amount for - the amount we paid in no way way compares to what weve got/acheived/experienced/realised from it after reading it.

Plain and simply we got much more from it than what we paid out for it - kind of what we should be trying to make happen for others

good luck in everything you do
Al

Hello Ponie. I think as a cashier you have a tremendous opportunity to give more in use value than your customers pay in cash value.

You are one of their last connections to the your establishment. You can make their experience memorable and fulfilling. I think that if you put your creative cap on you can probably come up with some specifics for the type of business / industry you are in. If not, perhaps sharing exactly what you do will spur some of us to give ideas.

As Rebecca mentioned, check the February issue of The Certain Way. You could also do a search on this topic. I am sure you will find a lot of great information. Good luck and keep us posted.

Well, you could think like that. Or you could keep customers like me in mind. I shop where the cashiers are friendly, energetic, give me their full attention, keep their station clean, and give me the best service possible. I mostly avoid places where the cashiers are otherwise. So, cashiers do affect my purchases (whether I come back often or rarely)
