I am new to the site. I have been listening to the SOGR over and over, in my car. I wanted to 'get it' before I started using it. Well, I'm ready to put it in practice but I'm not sure about my CMI. My goal is to be financially independent, but that includes several things. 1) Debt free; 2) money to get my new business off of the ground; 3) be able to retire from my current job. Do I put at all in one bundle or do I view them individually? Being debt free would give me the money to start my business, or my business would help me become debt free. Any insight into this would be appreciated. Thanks.

STallar,

Welcome to the site! You have a chosen a great group of people to help you. I'm sure you'll get plenty of wonderful responses. I am far from the most experienced, but here are some of my initial thoughts.

You could probably dig a little deeper and ask yourself what you will FEEL when you have accomplished the things you listed. Experiencing that feeling in advance is what will actually place your order for what you want in life.

It doesn't matter to you which comes first as long as you accomplish the ultimate goal, right?

Trying to figure out the order is part of what we call "the how" and it's not your responsibility. Your responsibility is to know what you want and to visualize it with as much emotion as possible. The universe (also called the thinking stuff, formless intelligence, whatever) is much better at figuring out how things should work than we are. Our perspective is too limited. So all you need to do is "order" or ask for what you want in a way that the universe understands (through emotion.) Then allow it to come in any way it can.

I think in your case it would be good to visualize yourself enjoying a business (including the safe feeling of financial security.)

How to move toward your goals will be clear to you as soon as you get your thinking and feeling right. That means: have your focus, faith, and feeling all in line with your ultimate goal.

I hope this helps. If not, don't worry. Someone else will post something better!

Love and blessings,
Rachel

Rachel,
Thank you for your thoughts and suggestions. I keep hearing that I need to be specific about my asking, so I wasn't sure how to ask for it, i.e. do I ask for a certain amount of money to start my business or be debt free? Your comments confirmed my thoughts that it is the FEELING of having more than enough to do what I want. And, I want my business to succeed. THANK YOU. I grateful for this site becaue I now feel that I have a support as I move toward my success. I

Where do you keep hearing that? You are asking with every breath, every thought.

The only reason to get clear and specific on some particular desire is because that helps you to feel wonderful enthusiasm for it. Vague generalities don't usually inspire us much.

Love & blessings, and, of course--
EXPECT Success!

FINANCIAL INDEPENDENCE & FREEDOM

I suggest you observe yourself as you think about ‘financial independence & freedom’ and make it a point to associate nothing but GOOD FEELINGS with it. In other words, make sure you are not harboring any thoughts that lessen your mood or enthusiasm (e.g., thoughts like, “I’m wrong to want this. I’m not capable or worthy of having this.”) To put it another way, you want to make sure you have all your mental and emotional ‘ducks in a row’. Endeavor to be your own best friend, as opposed to your own worst enemy.

Btw, by this, I don’t mean to ‘bury’ or deny any negative feelings you have. On the contrary, if you have negative feelings, I say acknowledge them and then resolve them constructively. I believe ALL our feelings have value. Acknowledging this seems, to me, to be a key in succeeding, not only in business, but in every arena of life.

I also suggest you keep an open mind as to the possibilities for attaining this end. For example, you mentioned you want to have a business, but from what I see, having ‘a’ business is only one way. Have you at least looked around and noticed the many ways people attain wealth and freedom?

Many people who attain financial independence and freedom have MORE than one business and/or more than one avenue of financial inflow. Now, at first this might seem daunting, but the successful people I study seem to understand how to leverage their efforts by incorporating SYSTEMS that do much of the work for them. (In other words, I suggest you incorporate the idea of eventually having your business or businesses and/or enterprises function mostly without much need for you to run or maintain them.)

In case you’re wondering what I mean by SYSTEMS, here are a couple examples:

You set up a business, hire the right people to run and maintain it, so that, eventually, you only need to be minimally involved time-wise. Of course, once you create a business that runs efficiently WITHOUT you, you can always opt to spend more time in it. But isn’t that so much better than HAVING to always put in long hours? For a resource on this idea peruse Amazon.com for the book ‘The 4 Hour Work Week.’

Joint Venturing: If you have a product to sell, you can often have much of the sales work done by others, in joint ventures.

Inventions, Patents, Copyrights: Some people create works – songs, art, screenplays, etc., that, by nature, are duplicable. With duplication, and setting up with systems (organizations, such as ASCAP and other guilds, agents, marketers, etc.) they market their creations and profit when it is duplicated and sold. Some people (e.g., publishers) often make money from marketing and selling other people’s creations, as well as any of their own (e.g., Jack Canfield, Mark V. Hansen, Louise Hay, with books, CDs and DVDs, Herb Alpert, P Diddy, Jay Z, with music, clothing and other goods).

Just some ideas,….

And, as Rachel suggested, think and act so that you attain and maintain good feelings for what you want.

Phil,
Thank you for your helpful response. You are correct in bringing up the 'feeling' of financial independence and freedom. I started out with the unworthiness 'stuff', but I feel that I have worked through that. Now it's more of obtaining the 'feeling' (act as if.....) of having it.

I have developed a product and am anxious to get it to the manufacturing state. Once it is manufactured, my goal is to market it, get it off the ground and then have someone else run the show. (BTW, I have heard about the book 'The 4 Hour Work Week', but now I think I will order it.

I am also looking into submitting a trademark application. It appears that I have more to learn about business i.e. joint venturing, SYSTEMS, etc.

I am staying on track with my vision.

Thank you for your commments and suggestions. I appreciate your input.

I’m purposefully deleting the contents of this post because it does not relate directly to SOGR. I'll post it it in 'It's All Relative.'
