Hi all,
In chapter 16, it has been said that:
While I understand about the second part of the sentence, I am not clear as to the meaning of the first part. Why does one need to give up most recreations and pleasures? I thought this conflicts with a thought mentioned earlier in the book which says that we live for the body, mind and soul. Recreation and pleasure is essential for the body, and the mind too. What is it that am I failing to grasp in this context? Bless you, and expecting success. ~Kapil |

You will understand it when it happens
and when it happens you will understand what it means at some stage (if you perservere) you will reach a level of understanding whereby if you think and act in the certain way, you will not question why people come into your life and why things happen to you. They (people and things) are brought to you by your own thoughts you will understand when it happens and when it happens you will understand live and think by the principals, it is as simple as that |

Hi Kapil,
Wow, you are observant. I had completely missed the first part of that sentence myself. I'm not entirely sure what it means either but I have some thoughts that might be useful. To me Wally is indicating that I should take a look at the things I do for pleasure. Do they fit with the certain way? Some things perhaps do, but I am sure there are many pursuits which don't. Only you can decide which "pleasures" help you live, think and do in the "certain way". I think I will assess this myself today. Thanks for the question, I think it will help me (at least) heaps. Allison. |

At the time Mr Wattles recognized that people have a lot of distractions/demands in their daily lives some essential, others not as much. No different today. Have you ever noticed how much time you suddenly have available when you meet someone "special", or the time you give to that "something special" you have been able to buy that you have always wanted,.....The Science of Getting Rich is worth some "time-out",read it, meditate on it, internalize it, the more time you give to this the sooner you will receive far richer experiences for your body, mind and soul.

What I believe is important to know here is, that once you have changed your old beliefs and your subconcsiousness has accepted it's new programming, you have to diligently keep on feeding it with useful activity, which brings more life to all. You may not stop and let it run idle, lean back and enjoy life with your old habits. Your new life has a new quality and your subconsciousness does not stop programming. So watch your thoughts and deeds in order to keep your subconsciousness changed. You may enjoy life, but you don that on a different level of quality, which you might not understand, until it happend. (You may be enjoying sitting in nature and watching birds much more than watching an action-movie, or so).
Does that help? I know, sometimes it's taff to explain something which you only understand because you arrived at that knowing through your own mental work. You cannot share your mental work with somebody else. You have to make your own expereineces and decisions. Blessings, Horst |
