I love a bargain!

Yesterday I was wearing a pair of beautiful designer label lined tweed trousers, which I found earlier this year in a sale for £5 (about $10 US, reduced in stages from £150 (about $300 US). I get immense pleasure wearing them, partly because they're beautifully made, they fit and flatter me well, and, on top of that, I get a thrill from having bought them for such a great price. I didn't need new trousers, I just loved them and that price, just bought them. I wouldn't have paid £150 for them, because I didn't actually need another pair of trousers, I just enjoy having a selection of great trousers, none of which I paid full price for.

So I was thinking about the message I'm putting out about money - if I truly believe in abundance, would I go and spend £150 on the trousers, knowing that more money will flow to me? Should I be changing my thinking about enjoying getting a bargain?

Thanks for all your wonderful posts.

Hi Odemira ~
Congratulations on finding such a bargain. I don't see any reason why you can't continue to relish your find and be joyful over it. Who doesn't like to find such treasures?

I guess my thought would be to ask if you would pay the higher price if they were something that you actually needed and wanted at the time. Sometimes it's true that we do get what we pay for quality wise. What may seem like a lot to spend initially gives us more in use value than what we give in monetary value. I don't think we should just spend money unwisely or just for the sake of buying something, but I don't think you did that. You found a great piece for your wardrobe at a fabulous price - nothing wrong with that. Smile

Hi Odemira,

Not only did you get a great pair of trousers, you experienced a great example of "abundance to all".

The store was probably happy to get rid of their old stock which was probably costing them money by taking up valuable store space and tying up capital that could be used to generate further profits.

As for you, for £5 you received a great product AND experienced the big "WHOOHOO!!" of getting a great bargain.

So why deprive yourself of bargains in the future? It's the universe's way of saying "Here you go, take it."

Of course, if you did need some new trousers and couldn't find any bargains, and you were happy to pay the full £150, there's nothing wrong with that either.

Cheers,
Jeremy
