My take on the difference between competition and creativity, what I believe Mr Wattles is saying, is that it doesn't matter what anyone else is doing. Your actions are not based on trying to out-do the other guy and should not be based on the fear that the other guy will steal from you. It doesn't matter what the market is doing, what matters is what you are doing. Your life is between you and the formless, that's the creativity. Competition is basically a misunderstanding about the nature of the formless; that there is only so much to go around and you better grab and hold onto what you can, or you'll have nothing. Nothing could be further from the truth. There is always plenty to go around for you AND the other guy. Be happy for his success, wish him well, it's good for you too. If you believe in lack, you'll be concerned about competition, if you believe in abundance, you will be creative. If your idea is stolen, then you will come up with (or be given?) a new and better one, if that is what you want. Your business will be constantly expanding naturally anyway so what difference does it make if others are doing similar things. But if you live in fear about what the other guy is doing, you will never be able to "hear" the good ideas coming to you. Spend your time concentrating on what you can do to promote "more to all and less to none" and not what you can do to out-wit the other guy. | |||
