Here is the quote from the book "While you are getting firmly established in this Faith, you will do well to give up most recreations and pleasure; and to stay away from places where ideas are conflicting"

I understand the second part it is so obvious to stay away from conflicting books, people, sermons, whatever.

However though I understand to always keep my CMI before me, I now get about giving up pleasure and recreation to continue to think and work on my CMI.

For me I understand the hard work that Wattles says thinking is, as it does challenge me at times. However continuing to apply myself realized how many times I escaped to the TV, back in his time the nickel shows to get my mind away from thinking.

Well I have gotten rid of my advanced cable 3 weeks ago and do not miss it all. I feel my thinking and CMI and SOGR training is come to a whole new level.

I like reading the somewhat easy successes people have, as it motivates me that it works! However for some of us the joy is in these discoveries for now while on the journey to our success.

I meant that above in a positive way, as we need to always look at our progress and as Wallace says keep it as a constant companion which I only do in spurts, however the lessons are coming through,

I know there is somewhere else in the book that says our speed in this process will be based on how we apply certain principles.

But again the building of SOGR is to have success and build from those success as he states success comes from success.

Thanks for being here it was just great to share and AHA!

Hiya Steve,

I have to agree with you -- I haven't really watched TV in years, but I'm finding that there are other "pleasures and recreations" that are just distractions from what you really want.

I've recently been "giving up" music and books and movies that just bring me down or encourage me to dwell on suffering or negative stuff (many action/suspense movies, war movies and "tearjerkers" do that).

Funny how it really doesn't feel like "giving up" anything at all. Smile I really like to watch Miyozaki's beautiful animated movies (like _Spirited Away_) instead Smile

I also don't read typical women's magazines, haven't in years -- well, I recently bought some old magazines at a thrift store to cut out pictures for my CMI, and again realized how glad I am that I don't read them! They are just like TV, they just distract you from what's important.

Thanks for posting Smile

Thanks for reading Smile
