SOGR says that wealth will come through established trades and commerce. OK, I really cannopt determine for myself what I would like to be/do. I am currently a substitute school teacher, but certainly will not do that for an extended number of years. Has anyone faced this or a similar obstacle and overcome it? Thanks.....

Something tells me you already DO know what you want to do, but for some reason you hold beliefs or "reasons" as to why you cannot do it.

I know this because I went through the same thing. I always knew I wanted to be a television news reporter but I thought I was too old, not pretty enough, didn't know the right people, didn't have time, couldn't afford to change careers, didn't wanna move, didn't wanna be uncomfortable, didn't wanna change, etc.... You get the picture.

Now I am one of the best, if not the best, reporters in Las Vegas. Everything happened in less than a year, and it keeps getting better!!

Think about what it is you are here to give...the answers will come...

Maybe you need some more time to think... unless you have this burning passion to be rich, you won't. Believe me, in a place where we are taught to be content with our lot in life, to think that "filthy rich" is a bad thing to desire, I was really hard put to decide what I want in my life!

The "technique" that worked for me was this: Imagine yourself with a trillion dollars. You never need to work for the rest of your life. What do you want to do? Why? What's your purpose for doing it? Are you in it for money, fame, glory, service to mankind, for God and country, to travel the world, and such?

The answers may change in time. This is because WE change within. Actually, my answers changed 5 times within a month! Smile I consider this good, because some items in my list stayed on, while others got dropped out. Now I know a lot of what I don't want!

You got it going good, Asperation... Right now you know you don't want to be a substitute teacher. Big Grin Keep the faith, friend!

Yup...

Had to get very quiet inside and allow myself to express what I really wanted in life without being afraid of what others would think or admitting that I was doing wrong things in the wrong way for years.

It helped.

Why not write on a piece of paper on your daily to do list "things for the universe to do" and under it put down realize what I really want and desire in life!!

Then put the certain into effect. Let the universe bring the answer to you as you go about your daily business.

Ok, here is a suggestion for you.

Ask for a Clear Mental Image. Then let it go, knowing you have the answer.

Most of all focus on how that will feel. Having the clarity and joy of being on purpose.

Hello, Asperation;

And hello everyone else on this forum. Was my last post
really in December, 2005?

More about my amazing Odyssey and certainly more 'lifeskill'
posts to come.

But first, let's get to the "business" at hand. Smile

It seems the more things change, the more they stay the
same. Asperation, I really wrestled with this issue some 10
years ago. I think it's something that many people
experience at least once or twice in our lives, if only we
are honest enough to admit it.

You can find my January, 2005 post on this subject here:

http://tinyurl.com/mvgtp

For an immediate answer, I am reminded of a song that was
made popular some years ago by Crosby, Stills and Nash,
"Love the One You're With". Remember the lyrics, "If you
can't be with the one you love, love the one you're with".
That advice has served me and so many other members of this
forum so well.

Here is what happens. When you find something good about
where you are right now, the world seems to open a path for
more and better opportunities. Read and re-read SOGR and
you will find this to be a main theme throughout the book.
Read and re-read a lot of posts on this forum and you will
also find verification and validation.

I can't tell you how many doors have opened for me just this
year alone following that advice. I'll be back with more
chronicles of my exciting adventures as well as more
'lifeskills' soon.

For now, trust me when I say that everything you read and
internalize in SOGR will change your life in ways you can't
even imagine now. Go for it!

Welcome back, Russ! I would almost say that your statement above is SOGR in a nutshell. Big Grin

Russ, welcome back!

It has been too long. Hope you kept on to your SOGR thinking while you were away from the forum.

Asperation,

Welcome here. You have received good advice already, you ask us how we overcame the same obstacle?

I have been battling with the What do I want to be when I grow up? question for many years. Until I decided that I was going to get an answer. I asked it very clearly and in strong faith that I would be receiving the perfect answer. And then I forgot about it. Went on about my business.
And within 48 hours, I received the Perfect Answer from my Wise Subconscious (that was maybe listening to the Wise Advice from Above?).
I was reading a book about something else and all of a sudden it hit me.

This is it! my heart jumped and my doubts were gone. And since then I am actively working towards filling the position I was born to be.

Hi Asperation,

I think that being a school teacher is admirable. The world needs good school teachers. You are probably right where you are supposed to be at this moment. Many opportunities pass us by daily. Perhaps the opportunity that you are looking for could be related to some type of education. Your thinking got you to where you are today, being a teacher. I would do some soul searching, perhaps some research into education-related possibilities. Teaching is not only limited to a school scenario, it encompasses many different areas of education.

Much abundance to all,
TOM

Asperation, just read what Mr. Wattles says about "more than filling your present place" so that you become too large for it and naturally move on up. And while you're having fun with that, you just relax into PLAYING with the idea of what you want to be -- like a little kid. When you stop trying so hard to "figure it out" and just let it arise from within you, you'll love what you discover. Big Grin The answer is already there; it always has been.

Asperation,

I had a similar experience to Caroline. I was a teacher in a small private school, and had loved it for years, but suddenly realized (I was actually awakened from a sound sleep by the thought) that I was not going to be taken care of in my "retirement". This was before I has read SOGR. At first I stewed about what to do. Then I "accidentally" managed to align myself with formless intelligence. It came to me that I should just visualize what I thought my ideal job would be. I sat down and formed the requirements very clearly. I had no idea what job would meet those requirements, but decided it didn't matter. I just asked the Universe for an opportunity. I didn't think much about it after that, though I believe I was still holding the requirements in the back of my mind. A couple of months later I was offered an opportunity that met those exact requirements. I am now in the process, with the help of SOGR, of making the most of that opportunity. It was, in fact, by getting into what I am doing now that I heard about SOGR---and I was in geat need of the wisdom and practices of this book! My entire life is getting better on so many levels. So--we go back to CMI and faith. Don't try to figure out how it will happen. Have the faith that it will. The CMI I formed was specific in requirements (i.e. Flexibility, income enough to allow for retirement, travel, etc., be my own boss) but I had no idea the TYPE of work it would be. It came to me anyway. So, what do you want out of life? Your occupation my just flow from that thought. Good visualizing!

This question hit home for me! I am in sales and, up till now, that sales would fulfill my desires on the materially plane, ie. this many sales equals this and that purchase. It seemed like I was 'forcing' the way my desires would come to me. Yet from what i am hearing, when I more than fill my current place, a better opportunity will come along.

So does this mean I shouldn't be setting monthly sales goals that equate to "X" amount of monies in commissions that will provide for some of my CMI's?

Hi Asperation,

I trust you are well. I can relate to your situation as I had woken up to a very important fact recently.

I realised that if I ever wanted to live the life I want to, working for someone else is not going to achieve it. I also realised that its up to ME to take the time, effort and responsibility to change my life.

I can tell you this with utmost conviction, once there is a shift in your mindset, you will notice the world seems different to you.

Well, I recently joined a business system that allows me to fulfill my dreams and grow incredibly wealthy. I am thinking about expanding my organisation in this business system worldwide and I will keep you in mind as I like your mindset already.

Can you give me your contact details in the mean time?
