What do you do when you're consumed by those feelings you do not want to have?

Thanks,

Hi Megan,
For me, EFT and Harry Carpenter's book "The Genie Within", both of which help you to reprogram the SUBCONSCIOUS mind (which is where all the fear and doubt comes from) were and are invaluable to me. You can't just "allow" something unless your subconscious mind is in agreement, and Harry's book addresses this beautifully. You can order right from his website, and it is a perfect companion to Wally's book. I'd also recommend his CD's highly, and they're not expensive. I think he offers the book and CD's for $25.00 or so. Go to: The Genie Within Website

EFT is free, and you can learn how to do it here: EFT Universe

Hello Megan,

So good to see you continuing on! I was wondering about how you were doing. I'm doing what I love now, cutting opals and making jewelry. I am now sharing a home with two others, and have a room for myself and my cat and a room for my business. I have talked with a custom jewelry shop and they are interested in seeing my opals, so things are looking up for me. I hope your life is getting better as well.

Ooopsy! Need to change my locationSmile I'm now in Snohomish, Washington.

So glad to hear your doing great! Things aren't getting any better for me. Seems like the more I try to feel good about my cmi, the worse things get. I struggle daily to get myself to a feeling good place.

Don't know how to relax and let things happen when things just don't seem to change for the better. Trying gratitude list every day, spending a few minutes dreaming about my cmi, and while intelectually I know I have to start telling a better story of my life, my head always reminds me it's a lie and I start feeling bad. I'm now practicing telling my head to shut up everytime it starts cataloging the things I don't want. I'm hoping this will help me turn the corner!

Thanks for checking in with me,
Megan

Megan,
You are probably trying to hard. Sometimes we just have to feel things before we can let go. Have you ever practiced mindfulness, where you just look at your thoughts without judging them. It has helped me at times. Relax Wink

Megan,
You are putting all your efforts in trying to feel good that it's become a struggle. Very important to relax and do not focus on "worst things get". There are times when I am not in the best feeling place and those times I accept my not feeling great feelings also, ex; I accept that I am experiencing ______ (frustration, anger, low self esteem, struggle -fill in the blank) right now & it's OK. I find that when I accept any negative feeling it softens it because I don't dwell on it and it passes. Give it a try & I hope it helps.

Sorry to hear that Megan,

Start telling your story with the truth. If you have $5 in your purse (or any amount of money for that matter) that doesn't need to be spent at once, you have an abundance money, if you've eaten, and have food in the fridge, you have an abundance of food. Be thankful for the abundance. Maybe take baby steps at first. You know the lesson about the man who asked too little has more than one viewpoint. One is that it was good he asked for too little at first, because then he saw that SOGR worked.

Don't envision your future with lies, find little truths that you can build on. Then you won't be battling your mind all the time. When you start seeing it work, then your mind will start believing when you add those things you haven't got yet, but will have, because the universe is bringing them to you.

Best of Success!!!

Megan,

I can understand how you feel. And it is ok to feel that way. It really is. Life can seem to be pretty frightening sometimes from our point of view.

But. God. Formless. Universe. Whichever name you prefer Smile sees your situation from a whole different point of view and there is nothing wrong about it that cannot be changed for the better!

You are thinking about things to be grateful for. That is wonderful. But it is so much better if you actually write it down. Preferably in longhand but I do it on the computer and that also works. Some days I find it a bit more challenging. Sometimes I think, maybe nobody understands why I am grateful for this little thing but that is ok. I am writing the gratitude posts for me and myself so for us which is royal plural *lol*

But it helps me to stay positive and it has worked for me. I remember the day when I had no money left. No energy because I was sick as a dog but no health insurance so no doctors or medication to put me back on my feet. I did not see a way out of the situation.

Today, I am waiting for the green tax friendly investment funds to open up again so I can make deposits there instead of having to pay estate taxes.

God gave me the strength and the open doors to move from A to B.

God bless you,

Caroline

Hi Megan

You are laying a new foundation for your certain way of thinking. Most often, ugly stuff will surface from time to time because we do keep a lot of these unhelpful beliefs deep down in our subconscious. Don't try to feel good in these circumstances in one fell swoop. most likely, you need to get to a place where you feel at peace with whatever you are feeling first, no matter how negative it appears. With acceptance and a genuine willingness to let it go, you can then have a clearer mind to start planting those seeds of grestness within your mind.

if you recall a lesson in PG course, ugly stuff coming up is a good sign that you are now becoming conscious of what you don't want, and what you aren't willing to accept in your life anymore. And that is a good thing because it allows more room for the good stuff to start flowing into your mind. And by natural laws of attraction, what you desire will manifest itself at the right time.

Blessings
Kevin

Megan,

I think repetition is key. Keep doing the work even when it doesn't feel good, eventually you will find things that will get your mind where it needs to be. I personally like the website psitek.net, check it out. There's a lot of free ebooks that can be read right from your browser, SOGR being one of them. I'm not always in the mood for SOGR, sorry Wally, but there are quite a few books that parallel it that may strike you in times of need. The site has a random page generator, when I find myself stuck on what to read, I sometimes do this.

Another thing that has worked for me lately is some of the techniques in 'The Genie Within' book (I haven't bought it and read the whole thing, but the free chapters on that website can be a good start) The most important thing I have taken from there is the '3...2....1....Alpha' technique where you train your mind to easily slip into the Alpha phase where your subconscious is more easily susceptible to positive thoughts. It really works.

I still struggle, but these are a couple of things that help.

Hi Megan,

First of all, I think it’s really wonderful that so many have replied with encouragement. I hope that gives you a bit of a good feeling.

As for me, I find that I also can’t always get a good feeling about something I want. In those instances, one way I’ve found that improves how I feel is, I focus on an idea that is true and uplifting, that applies to EVERYONE.So, for example, I might dwell on one of these thoughts:

I am a Child of God.

"I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High." ' Psalm 82:6

God wants me to have every good thing. God wants me to have a wonderful life.

“Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” Luke 12:32

We are all unconditionally worthy and deserving of love and every good thing.

And, for self esteem, I like this thought:

“No one can make you feel inferior without your permission.” - Eleanor Roosevelt

Though you may not be ‘used’ to the idea, and because you’re not used to the idea it may not feel genuine, the truth really is, you are as worthy and deserving of every good thing as anyone. You may just have to practice the thought until you can be comfortable with it.

It’s very much like physical exercise. If you’re not used to physical exercise, and you go at it, it won’t feel very comfortable. But, if you continue with it, going at a gradual pace, you get used to it, and start to feel comfortable with it.

Another example is,,learning a new way to FEEL is like learning how to drive. At first it seems really awkward, as you go about learning where everything is, and what the pedals do, and how much pressure to apply, and what to pay attention to, and what to look out for, etc., etc.

But as you continue with it, your mind naturally integrates everything until, voila, one day you do it without hardly thinking at all. .

When you’re learning a new way to feel, you have to learn which thoughts to pay attention to, and which ones are leading you away from the good feeling you want. You also may need to construct new thoughts, i.e., affirmations, to help you instill new feelings. And, just like when you’re learning to drive, all the effort may seem awkward and cumbersome. But, just like driving, if you keep at it, with the INTENT, of getting good at feeling good, eventually you will discover you are making progress.

You may even get to the point where it seems easy and effortless, just like most driving gets to be.

You're so right on! Thanks to everyone for all your posts. I've read each one, though I didn't replyto them all. Had to take a little time off from 'working' on myself. Saw Wayne Dyer's book 'Excuses Behone' in the library and checked it out. I''m putting his exercises to practice every day and have seen some small results.

He says to start small (as others here have suggested) and say daily affirmations like...God is my Source and Supply..everything I need to materialize my dreams is already here...I just need to connect to it and let it in...I expect to see small results any day now...the world is full of people/places/things waiting to help me in realizing my dreams and I expect to see them showing up anyday now.

Then he says to only focus on small things, not anything big.

So I spent a few days thinking about having an extra $20.00 for gas..I kept affirming I had it..I saw it, felt it in my hand..and practiced feeling how great it was to have 1/2 tank of gas in my car at all times.

Then this morning a friend that owed me $20 showed up and gave it to me.

Now I'm working on this great room I saw for rent. I'm seeing myself in it by 8/30 and everytime a thought comes up that I'm going to have to sleep in my car again..I tell myself 'that's a lie because everything I need always comnes to me easily and effortlessly.

I've noticed I was so wound up looking for a better paying job, plsce to live, better clothes for work, money for foood, that I was really struggling, making choices based on fear, and really not liking anything about my life.

So I let go of a couple of job interviews for work that wouldn't pay more thsn I make now, starteed thinking about how I can do so much better..and have started feeling like maybe I WILL do so much better again. I affirm daily, "I've made good money before and I will do it again soon.

I'm retraining myself to look for the small things showing up for me and reminding myself about what I have to be grateful for.

I'll keep you all posted.

Thanks for all the support, I really, really can use it!

I agree TOTALLY!!! If you really look at The Secret it is a huge commercial. It gives just enough information to pique one's interest to find out more. And then on top of that it offers a variety of teachers that one can follow to find out more. I decided to follow Jack Canfield. I read the Success Principles and have done his free training. I've done what I could afford... up until now. My greatest lesson learned was to stop negative self talk. It didn't make me have my perfect life... but it did make me feel tons better about myself and feel more positive. I recently read You've Got to Read This Book because its on Jack Canfield's book list and in it was Robin Byrne, who wrote The Secret. She was most inspired by The Science of Getting Rich. This inspired me further the find a copy to read which lead me here. So there you have it. It has all come full circle for me. I wanted to know the inspiration behind the inspiration for The Secret and it let me here. I also think that the path I took to get here helped prepare me to better believe and receive and to EXPECT SUCCESS!!!!

Awhile back when this wonderful world of awareness & I met Smile I must admit I became very overwhelmed. My mind was constantly trying to sort things out and I couldn't keep up with all the information coming in let alone remember it all. One day as I got into my car debating what positive thoughts or affirmations to think I got the idea to curve my lips into a smile and keep them like that....with a smile on my face I discovered that my mind smiled as well as my heart, it kept negativity away because two separate emotions cannot occur simultaneously. It has formed into a habit, my best habit to date! I struggle with remembering sentences/quotes/affirmations and by smiling I feel joyous all over without having to struggle with remembering the words -which I used to do. For me this works, as they say; a smile can light up a room, it sure lights up my days.

Joe Vitale writes quite a bit about it.

Don't try Megan. Just do. Didn't Yoda say that in Star Wars? Smile When your head tells you, "it's a lie," don't tell it to shut up. Just gently remind it, "it's the truth." And one day, your head will know it too.

When I first started trying to change my thoughts (which is where is has to start), I had a very poor self image. I often said degrading things to myself. I just began to notice at first each time I thought something negative. Then I began to erase by replacing the thought. "I am stupid" became I am smart. "I hate myself" became "I love myself." Until over a few months time, I finally stumbled on an affirmation that made me weep.

"I am God's gift to the world." I wept because I finally knew it was true. It still brings tears to my eyes.

I back slide on rare occasion. And then I just keep filling my head with truth, until it surrenders. Big Grin

.. And one day, your head will know it too.

Hi Dawn:

I think I finally found something that's helping me (and many people, like you, have offered their help..and I am grateful to you all for that...I was in the library and saw Wayne Dwyewra book, "Excuses Be Gone!"...I was drawn to it so I checked it out and am almost finished reading it.

I've noticed the start of a shift in my thinking because of Wayne's suggestion to always ask that negative (or ego based as he says) thought this question...Is it the truth? His book says ask yourself is it the ABSOLUTE truth, or could the opposite of that thought also be true. For example, I found a room to rent 2 miles from my job in a house that is gorgeous and sparkling clean and the owner, my age seems like a great person. Ihave the money to move in on 8/31, and while she indicated she'd like me to move in, nothing was confirmed. I emailed her 2 days ago to see if she'd made a decision and hadn't heard back.

My head started to take off with...I know she isn't going to rent to me, the place is too nice..I'm goning to be living in my car again..I'll never have a nice/affordable place to live in again...and on ad nauseum...so I stoppped and asked myself, "Is that the absolute truth, or is it also possible that she's been really busy and hasn't had time to get back to you...

Seeing I had 2 ways to look at it because either one is possible, I chose to look at the second answer because it supported me in going for my dream of eventually having my very own great place to live in.

Wayne's nbook had a chapter on changing your thinking to choose thoughts of a friendly Universe, supportive of manifesting my dreams.

IThis book has really resonated with me and I ran across it at my lowest point.

By the way, I received an email from my potential landlady saying exactly what I xchose to believe. She apologized for not getting back to me but has been busy with company, looking for a job..etc. She may be taking a job offer out of the area which would mean she wouldn't be renting the rooms, but if she doesn't take that job, the room is mine. She'll let me know by this Friday.

So I'm focusing on trusting the Universe to deliver what's best for all involved, and if this room doesn't work out, they'll be something better for all just around the corner.
