I would like to ask a question about joy. What are some of the things done by SOGR members to create joy in their lives so that you are in a state to receive?

Just practicing gratitude alone can bring lots of joy. Try to look at what you have with new eyes. (And hey, thats what Wattles advices anyway so its a double positive there)

Listing to beautiful music gives me joy. I like to get very relaxed and focus on that feeling of joy, letting it expand to fill my whole body...which always leads to a feeling of gratitude that such music exists.

Watching my grandchildren play and laugh also fills me with great joy.

I guess the key is to find somthing that rings your chimes, dwell on it and let the feeling of joy expand.

MC2 is right on the money. When I concentrate on gratitude, I do feel genuine joy.

I have also found going for a walk somewhere beautiful to bring pure joy and contentment. There is this amazing spot near where I live and the last time I hiked up there it gave the most amazing feeling of bliss.

Hi Canadian,

What I do, is use my imagination to 'live my CMI' in my mind - laid back in a comfortable chair, or lying down on my bed even. I have a wonderful time, feeling as joyful as if it were 'real'.

Afterwards, I feel happy, relaxed and grateful for having this experience and the better I feel, the more certain I am that fullfilment is near! Smile

I hope this makes sense to you.

Hi Canadian,

Great question. To be honest, most of the time I hover just a little below joy. Your question got me thinking, hmmm, how do I create joy or how would I imagine joy being created. Maybe I should get more of that in my life! Living a life filled with gratitude certainly keeps me in a positive frame of mind but I wouldn't say it totally bumps me into joy.

Here are things that do bring joyful feelings. Getting ready to travel somewhere. Since when I travel, it's to see family and friends, I am usually incredibly joyful thinking and planning for this. Sometimes I'll be with my husband and children and I realize that I'm feeling joy just because I love it when we're all able to be together and have fun.

I could list a whole bunch of things that make me happy though: work, my art, my home, and such.

Thanks for the excellent food for thought!

Mr. Wattles states in CHAPTER 22. A SUMMARY OF THE SCIENCE OF BEING GREAT: "ALL men are made of the one intelligent substance, and therefore all contain the same essential powers and possibilities. Greatness is equally inherent in all, and may be manifested by all. Every person may become great. Every constituent of God is a constituent of man.

Man may overcome both heredity and circumstances by exercising the inherent creative power of the soul. If he is to become great, the soul must act, and must rule the mind and the body."

The Jewish mystic Saul of Tarsus wrote to a group in Galatia and said, "The fruits then of the spirit are these: Love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, faith, Meekness, self-control. About these, there is no instruction put in place ... Let us therefore live by the spirit, and surrender to the spirit."

I too believe, and it has been my experience, that just as a trees full expression of life culminates as the bearing of fruit so with us. Every perfection and grace is already ours in a seed form and as we recognise (re-cognize ... 'to know something again') that "Every constituent of God is a constituent of man" and be aware of and responsive to spirits leading then we will find those fruits of spirit blossoming forth in our lives.

Dr. Gayek reminded me in a previous post to "follow my joy". As I thought about that, I realized that, for me, joy is directly linked to what I'm thinking. Some thoughts can send me spiraling into "outer space" of delight, and others..... well, you know. Wink Thoughts of gratitude always give a lift. EVery day, I walk down my road with gorgeous views of the Rockies, and some days I'm overflowing with enjoyment & other days I don't even notice the beauty because of the darkness of my thoughts. But then, I guess I tend to be a brainy, "in the head" sort of person. Smile
Wishing all of you joy,
Kari
