Doubled sales in one week

Last week I doubled my sales and recieved a raise for the commissions sales work I do. I had a dinner meeting with my bosses however, prior to that dinner meeting, I told myself that I would not agree to do more in order to be paid more. I was already doing all I could do.
My bosses are tough guys and are rarely generous.

I wanted to be paid more for what I do now. I politely held my ground and won. Yes, the new commissions schedule does require more sales from me to earn more but I did just that! I doubled my sales in one week in the same amount of time in which I had less sales the week before.

So, everyone is happier and the company's belief in a bad economy was obliterated. My belief, since I was young man watching my dad struggle as a Real Estate Broker was that the economy will never pay my bills. I do. I create the wealth.

The job is a means to my vision only. However, I followed Mr. Wattles doctrine to do what I do now to the best of my ability and let the law of increase happen.

In addition, stand your ground. Know your worth. You have more talent than you think you have and people will pay for it.

Early in my sales career I listened to Zig Ziggler and one quote always stuck with me.

"Business is never good or bad out there its good or bad between the ears"

I always remembered that.

Sales really does give one an opportunity to apply the principles. I have wanted hubby to look into this program for a while as he is in sales.

Quickly under taken Richard. Nicely done.

For what it's worth, I would certainly recommend it. I own a sales company with eight employees and the ideas presented in SOGR are a radical change to the dog-eat-dog competitive world most sales people travel in.

Thom I too have tried that. I hire people and pay them commission on what they write. I signed up over 70 people but I would have to say its been a failure. At max I had only 10 people writing business and usually they would write 1 or 2 a month. After a while those 10 turned into 4 then 2 so hardly anyone is writing any business. From my perspective the record keeping of the data is almost not worth the effort.

I think the idea is still a gold mine but I havnt found the right people to fill the spot yet.

Thanks for the replies, guys! It's good to hear the quotes and the application of the principle to the sales field. Things are changing rapidly. It's like I am starting to get back to what I want and not just what I need. I can see how the certain way is also about expressing yourself because if you are being 'you' that is the way. That is truth. And not only expressing you but in your way.

My husband's company tears through the sales reps every year. He is a top seller and has a few mates that really produce, but the other 3 or 4 are usually dead weight and end up quitting.

I wonder what you bosses need to focus on to get really a few really super reps to bring in all that business.

Its back to that relationship thing.

What kind of relationship do you want with your reps?

If hubby comes here, I'm changing my ID and being me as someone else....lol. Gosh wouldn't that be interesting. We might actually communicate if he doesn't know who I am. He seems to prefer professional women so I could fake that too. Heck he might even like me.

Hi to all,

I have always been a bit afraid of selling and admire people who seem to do it so naturally. I am not all the way there yet, but SOGR has helped me in a couple of ways: I am now convinced I am worth what I am asking - that makes a big difference in the interaction, and I have worked on consciously giving the impression of increase - I think I did this unconsciously before as my services have made a big positive difference to my clients (just that I used to discount that or feel awkward at telling prospective clients that).

Recently I had a coffee meeting with an HR manager who is very happy with my work and will send me more executives from her company. I caught myself telling her that marketing was not my strong point. She replied: but you're putting yourself out there.

After that I made a mental note to stop saying this to myself and to others.

I think we can feel it if a sales person is only interested in themselves. We may pay up and feel bad afterwards just because it is hard to get out of it. It is quite a different experience when you know that person genuinely believes in a product and would like to sell to people who will benefit from it in some way.

Anyway, Richard E, congratulations for standing firm - you have my admiration for that, and the skill you obviously have in selling.
