As per chapter 6 of the book,
'When you rise from the competitive to the creative plane, you can scan your business transactions very strictly, and if you are selling any person anything which does not add more to his life than the thing he give you in exchange, you can afford to stop it.
You do not have to beat anybody in business. And if you are in a business which does beat people, get out of it at once.’

I would like to understand the relevance of the above to the outsourcing business. As you might know, there are many companies in India, China etc, to which many companies from US, UK outsource business for the cost advantage.
I am currently working in one such company, however not directly involved in the operations of outsouricng, but as part of the team to ensure every operation goes on as planned and identify deviation from plan.
Outsourcing, as a concept is primarily based on cost advantages, but am also aware of the other benefits the team here is providing to the company in US in terms of better delivery, quick turnaround etc.
But I would like to know – am I in a business which is beating somebody else? If so, I need to immediately change my CMI since at present, I am seeing myself as a Vice President here!!

My feeling is that it is up to the US / UK companies to ask themselves if outsourcing to India is the right thing to do for their customers, employees, country etc and it is your job to ensure that you give the US / UK company more in use value than you receive in cash value. It is also your job to determine if your fellow employees, environment, etc are being treated with fairness and respect. If you feel that your company is exploiting its workers, environment, etc then by all means seek to move on to another business. If not, then enjoy your Vice Presidency (now and when it arrives).
