I am curious if anyone has experience with using music in their visualization process. I have never tried this before, but there are many pieces of music I have that make me feel good. I also live in a rather noisy environment which makes it extremely difficult to focus on anything. With repetitive music, though, I can work until the cows come home without losing my focus, and even get into the zone. I thought perhaps I might try the same with contemplating my vision.

I love to listen to some music, soft sort of like wooden flute music with water or other sounds of nature in the background while I 'meditate' or concentrate on my CMI's. I find that very relaxing.

I use music to get a 'happy' when needed.
Don't know how to use it in a CMI. Liesbeth "The odds of hitting your target go up dramatically when you aim at it." Mal Pancoas |

We have CMIs all the time, really. So if you're listening to music that makes you feel good, that's plenty. Of course, if you want to use that time of feeling especially good to "live in" your CMI (put yourself in it in your imagination) right then, so much the better.

Hi Teruchan,
Thanks for your post! I regularly use music in my CMI, but that's mainly because I'm a musician, and a large part of my CMI involves fleshing out what I want to sound like when I play my instrument. So we might be talking about slightly different things. That being said, I do believe a lot of people underestimate the capacity to imagine sounds (or any other sense for that matter.) If you can remember what delicious chocolate ice cream tastes like, then you can imagine what a soothing or relaxing sound sounds like. I think of it as painting sort of a tonal picture, if that makes sense. So I'm not sure if that is relevant to your question or not, but I thought I'd put it out there. Perhaps if you are in a noisy environment, you could try to sort of go inside yourself and recall some relaxing music. I used to do that on stage before a concert when the whole orchestra is practising and there is this cacophony of sound. If I can hear my personal, ideal sound in my head through that, then I know it's fixed and solid! David |
