Brian, here are three old posts from me about my own experience in that type of business:
Here,
Here, and
Here.

One more thing I'll add: In my experience, for a business to be fun and satisfying, there has to be a LOT more than just potential profit involved. If you can find some aspect of this business that you really LOVE, that'll make inspired action a breeze.

Love & blessings, and, of course--
EXPECT Success!

I love the idea of helping others!
I love the idea that my wife and I can do this together and spend time together working the business!
I love the quality of the people involved with this company!
The idea of freedom to do what we want is exciting!
I love the personal development that this company offers.

I just need to get over my initial fear to share this opportunity with others. Because I've had so many people not willing to even take a look or say no after looking at the presentation, I'm kind of apprehensive about approaching people.

I definitely need to get over this to be successful.

Thanks for your help!

Brian

Hi Soup

I have read your post with interest.

I must ask, when you obsess over the business and continually think about it, do you actually really deep down BELIEVE that you can make a success of it?

It sounds to me as if you are going through the actions, and to the out side world you may present this industrious active person, who is destined for success, but inside you really do have reservations.

Unless your beliefs are in complete alignment with your core thoughts, then things just will not happen.

Until you have the results to share with your customers, you must use other peoples results to explain the opportunity, and relay the information from a position of you being that successful person.

You must realise that if anyone else has made it a success, then you MUST be able to, if you follow the teachings of SOGR.

The hardest thing we have to do is to believe the truth, regardless of appearances.

The appearance is that you cannot do this, the truth is you CAN.

I hope that helps.

Here is a short video that may help you

Hi Croz and thanks for your response!

Your question about belief is a great one! I have been to that place where I believe that I can make a success of it but doubt has always crept in.

How might I get my beliefs in complete alignment with my core thoughts--and maintain these beliefs?

Thanks!

Hi Soup

As I said it is a question of aligning your core thoughts with your belief. It is the hardest part of creating success, because all your old programming is telling you that you cannot do something.

In the past I found it useful to just make small steps, and every time I saw a result, it increased my faith in the process.

It is also useful to look at the times that you had success and how you felt leading up to that, and likewise look at the times you experienced failure. In both cases, the results will be in total alignment with your thoughts and beliefs leading up to that point.

Once you totally believe in the process and have faith in it, it cannot fail.

Our own worst enemy is ourself, because we keep bringing up limiting beliefs from the past.

No one can do this for you, And it takes different people different lengths of time to master it. All I can say, is that it works everytime that you have total faith and belief in obtaining what you want.

Whatever you think, only you know the deep truth, and until you can master this, you will keep manifesting, what it is that you truly believe.

Hope that helps.

Abundance to All

Thanks Croz!

Yes, I watched the video. Thank you. Earlier in the day I had read that chapter from sogr, also. So it's cool that you sent that to me after I had read that chapter! Interesting how that worked out!

The opportunity for me is to have total faith and belief and to somehow eliminate any doubt that might creep in. That's the challenge.

I think I'm getting closer to having a better understanding of how I can accomplish this and I greatly appreciate your help and all of the others who have responded!!!

Thank you!

Hey Soup,

You got some great responses so I wanted to touch on a different aspect.

I've been in network marketing several times and I've never been very successful with it. I DON'T think that it is because they don't work on a technical level. I think in my case it was because my passion for it was fake. I liked many of the same aspects that you mentioned, but I didn't love it enough to do it as a hobby. I mostly wanted the life it promised to provide and I was terrified that I couldn't get that life any other way. I knew that it had worked for many people; I also knew that many people fail. I think that a lot of people fail because of fear that it won't work for them. Ironic, isn't it? And also sort of sad.

I am very familiar with the terror and paralysis that is a result of lack of belief. What's worse is you KNOW that your fear and lack of faith is holding you back, so you become even more afraid that you will fail. It can be a vicious cycle.

I think that the fear comes from believing that this is the ONLY way you could possibly get all those benefits you love. Of course, the presentation you give over and over, and the training you receive tells you that without THIS business (or maybe one like it -- but this one is the BEST, isn't it) without this business you are unlikely to ever accomplish the life of your dreams. And even if you aren't feeling fear per se about the business, but only frustration, it's worth asking yourself if you believe that this is the best or only way for you to achieve riches. I know I was told that.

But the SOGR teaches us that there are infinite ways for the universe to bless us and that living in the Certain Way is all it takes. It doesn't have to be THIS client, or THIS sale or even THIS business. As long as you are doing something that you love, and stay grateful, you will enjoy money and other good things from places you couldn't control or predict. Your CMI includes "this or something better," right? You know not to try to control the how, right? So why would you be worried that this particular path to riches doesn't appear to be working?

The universe could and almost certainly is giving you all that you need and desire RIGHT NOW. You just haven't noticed it yet. When you get grateful and ALLOW your dreams to come true in any way most convenient to the universe, then it won't matter if people aren't joining your network -- you'll have what you want anyway.

I personally didn't start to enjoy relative financial prosperity until I found something that I loved doing so much that I didn't really care if it made a lot of money. When I first started training to be a dance teacher, my husband called it "an expensive and time-consuming hobby." He supported me anyway because I loved it, but I know he was surprised when after less than 2 years I was making more money than he was. Now I own my own studio and am on a path to more prosperity than I ever used to believe possible.

Let me be clear, I am NOT suggesting that you should abandon your business. I hope you wouldn't do something like that on MY recommendation, anyway. I am suggesting that you let go of the idea that your riches DEPEND on your success in THAT business. When you know that your riches can come from anywhere, you can be involved in your business without stress or strain. You can take all your action with joy in the knowledge that the universe is friendly to your plans. Remember that it is your thoughts and feelings that create your experience. Your actions only receive it.

Love and blessings,
Rachel

Thanks so much for those links to earlier posts. You've done what I want. We're told to look for mentors, I feel I have found one in you. LOL I hope that's okay.

My business has stagnated the last few months. Obviously the Universe pointed me in this direction for a reason. Despite everything I know and practice there are still times a wakeup call is needed. Times when the demands, disbelief and negativity of those around me just gets to be too much.

Croz.. I really enjoy your video's. Good job.

Now, its time I start sending out notes of appreciation to distributors.

Change that to "That's the opportunity"

I also agree with Rachel; if you don't love what you do you won't do well with it. If this is something that you love then build the passion!

Rachel,

You make great points! I see networking as a vehicle to help people and to make income but I think I realize it may not be the only way to financial freedom. Although up til now it's been a frustrating experience, I continue to believe in what I am doing. I don't think my belief is fake. I have saved a lot of money with this company and want to help others do the same.

In my journey the past few days I've realized and been reminded of the following....
-nothing happens in God's world by mistake and
-faith is the key that will unlock the door to freedom

See and feel the life I want and be grateful that I have it--now!

Thanks for everyone's help!

Kevin,

I'm really interested in your post. Can you give examples of actions that might might be considered unproductive and taking more effort versus the actions that might lead one to feeling good about one's self and be considered more efficient.

I find myself stuck a bit and could benefit from your insight.

Hi Brian! You already have lots of wonderful replies! See how the universe works? Wink

The reason why I think I was "inspired" to post on this subject is that I notice more and more that I take action because it feels good to take action, instead of taking action to feel good. But at the same time, I also am aware that when I first started out on learning these SOGR principles, I wanted to do all the right things to let these principles work for me, by taking physical actions. You see, before SOGR, I held the view that physical action equals to physical, real world results. But, ever since reading Wally and all the people on this forum who had mastered this certain way of thinking, I have realigned all my beliefs according the principles of SOGR.

And I now firmly believe too, that one of the key ideas of Wally's teachings, is that it is the thought that creates, not the action. Read that again, and again, and really let that sink into your mind. Because, there is world of difference between believing in this, and in believing that action is what gets you from point A to point B.

Similar questions like the ones you asked about the networking business, have been tossed, discussed and analyzed in this forum by many others. Look up the word action and you know what i mean.

Any action that connects your true, creative self with the universe is a positive action. In this sense, I am not referring to physical actions, though sometimes it could be, but rather, a commitment in your mind to change what may be holding you back from the true expression of your creative self. There is long list of those type of actions that many have taken, and its main purpose is to release our resistance from being true to ourselves, and to get back our focus on feeling good about who we really are.

To elaborate further, what I mean when I refer to productive and efficient actions is that actions taken for the sheer joy are actions taken to receive, simply because before, during and after taking the actions, you are already feeling good about yourself, feeling at total peace with who you are today, and totally blessing everything in the world as it exists for you. These actions are taken not because you have to do anything, but because they are expressing who you are to the world. That is your greatest gift to all of us, as Wally taught us. But, sometimes, we don't get there in one fell swoop. There may be some intermediate steps like the ones mentioned by Julia that we may take before we reach that "inspired" actions. That is why, I think, Wally mentioned in the chapter on "Acting in a certain way" that we don't just dream BIG to attract what we desire, we also have to take actions with the full conviction that we are already in possession of what we desire.

Seeing someone taking a specific action, by itself, isn't enough to learn anything you want to master. Your mind must be in total agreement that this action is what will help you to progress, and why we mention so much about feelings is that, feelings are your internal guide to whether you really are in full agreement with the action you want to take, or in Wally's words, in full harmony with the universe. When you feel good about a specific action, your mind is working with the "formless". Feeling not so good means you are resisting it in your mind, no matter what you may be telling yourself outwardly.

To illustrate further, using a learning experience from SOGR perspective, I am going to share a learning experience I had just a new day ago, that is a perfect example of using action in an efficient way.

Badminton is a sport that is popular in Asia, and recently I joined in a game, and was coached in an impromptu session by one of the experienced players.

The first thing he taught me was how to hold the racket. This allows me flexibility to move the racket forward and backward, allowing me to hit the shuttlecock with a forward swing or backward swing.

Holding the racket correctly is an extremely important first step, just like anyone who did any racket sport would know. This is akin to holding the right beliefs in your mind first before you start out to master any activity.

From then, he taught me the proper motion of the swing.
A proper swing goes through a correct projectile, i.e. it moves along a path that allows the arm and body to follow through on the swing.

This is when, a relaxed body is so essential. This is much like learning SOGR. Relax, relax, relax has been the mantra of Rebecca and many others on this forum. A relaxed motion, as the coach pointed out, allows me to take the necessary action of just guiding my movement along the right path to hitting the shuttlecock and following through. And this is where, the analogy with SOGR stands out for me. You see, when I am guiding my movement in an easy and correct manner rather than forcing it in an awkward movement, I am in "full harmony with the universe". There is no force required because I am doing it with the full cooperation of gravity and my body's natural movement. Similarly, when we take actions with the full cooperation of the universe, we are leveraging on that power, and it comes easily, powerfully, and the result is that it feels so good to take that action. And the law of attraction brings the result we desire to us. It looks effortless to the impartial observer, but really, the heavy lifting is already done by aligning our thoughts with the "formless" substance, and the action is merely to receive it, and this we do, by guiding that action along the efficient path, which is akin to the thoughts we have that is aligned to what we truly desire(that's why it feels good!) Big Grin

Blessings
Kevin

Abraham had this to say about activity that I think fits here.

"Be aware of the big difference between inspired action and activity. Activity comes from the brain-mind and is rooted in disbelief and lack of faith - you are taking action to "make" your desire happen. Inspired action is allowing the law to work through you and to move you."

I find that if I'm thinking I have to do something in order to get the result I want, it isn't inspired and therefore a waste of time and effort. Inspired action doesn't carry that negative energy and weight.

Kevin,

Thanks for your response!!

I'm not sure why but the following jumped off the page at me..... "taking actions with the full conviction that we are already in possession of what we desire."

Understanding this and really applying and practicing it has to make a HUGE impact on one's progress with the SOGR principles.

I'm also interested in searching the word "action" in the forums to see what I find.

I'm specifically looking for what you referred to in your post...."a commitment in your mind to change what may be holding you back from the true expression of your creative self. There is a long list of those type of actions that many have taken, and its main purpose is to release our resistance from being true to ourselves, and to get back our focus on feeling good about who we really are."

Off to the forums and I am grateful for you and your post.

Hi

Interesting thread, I think one thing has been missed in all this. Some people believe they are not good enough or not deserving of wealth, for various reasons and no matter what a person does on the concious level, if they have this belief at the subconsious level they can feel like they are hitting there head against a brick wall, which just reinforces the negative subconcious message.

If this is so, it may be more advantagious to tell the person to investigate why they can not comit 100% to the study/action or if they do and fail then look deeper rather than just give up.

Love

Rohan
