Something miraculous happens when a group of people are thinking about you in a thoughtful and prayerful manner-- almost immediately I have begun to see shifts in my situation...Somehow after reading each of your very wise and thoughtful reply I did not feel quite so alone
-Roni This is really weird. In fact, I almost have to also say, "I don't know what happened!" Although I understand exactly what is happening. The responses to my original post have been extremely helpful. It's amazing what manifests as soon as you ask for it. -Kurt Scott 'Dilbert' Adams' Secret Technique (from http://www.effectivequestions.com/articles/dec2002/creative_visualization/creative_visualization.htm) Scott Adams, of the comic strip 'Dilbert' fame, wrote in his book "The Dilbert Future" of a method he diligently practised every day that helped drove him to become the popular cartoonist he has become now. It's elusively simple, yet powerful. Although he claimed you don't need any belief in the technique at all for it to work, I think a little belief, just the right amount of faith, wouldn't hurt, even may help. Every day, without fail, he wrote, "I, Scott Adams, will become a syndicated cartoonist" 15 times in a row. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Many times in the past I've used affirmations like the one Scott Adams used to help me achieve a goal. Sometimes I was successful and others not. All the times I used affirmations, there always seemed to be something missing in the affirmation work for me...although I know that self-help/self-development is an individual endeavour...i've always noticed that when I reached out to the outer world and made a request, things would work much more effectively. It's strange but when you ask for help/guidance not to those you know but to strangers on the net (as an example) you seem to let your guard down because we are not stuck with all the dirt from our past that those closest to us know about us ...by having a "stranger" from whom you ask i think we become more receptive to getting what we want. Case in point, I was struck by how Roni and Kurt each were able to get small miracles almost as soon as they were able to let their guard down and ask for guidance/help. Could it be that when they communicated with strangers...they were communicating with thinking substance which is in all of us. Having let out what they had been holding in could it have helped them receive what they needed. Ok what does this have to do with the price of cheese lol. Well I wanted to see if people here would like to try out an experiment. I am planning on creating a discussion group on yahoo (groups.yahoo.com) where each day...each member of the group MUST send a message to the group with their affirmation(s). Thankfully groups.yahoo.com has a way to let you read the messages only on the net so none of our mailboxes will be stuffed with tons of affirmations. So you don't have to worry about that. The idea is to tap into this Thinking Substance by sending what we want out into the world....a world of strangers...but each part of the thinking substance which is in all of us. Taking the "stranger" idea a bit further, in order to make everyone feel at ease sharing the affirmations thus making us more receptive to getting what we want....i would recommend everone creates an "anonymous id" at yahoo...using just the first name or a nickname or a handle...call me paranoid lol but i think groups like AA use the anonymous concept because they know each one of us is a bit paranoid about letting our secrets out to the world (in our case our secrets being those things we want to achieve/battles that we want to overcome/stuff that we want. You don't have to make an anonymous id if you don't want... the group is already private so no one else besides the group will be able to read what you write but i think i've made it clear how i feel about using anonymous ids One other thing i've noticed working with affirmations is how one feels odd when someone reads their affirmation. It's like they have found the key to your diary and are reading your innermost thoughts. To overcome this, I started using short hand to work with affirmations...which is what i would recommend for group members...basically taking Scott Adams affirmation "I, Scott Adams, will become a syndicated cartoonist"...shorthand version would become..."ISAwbasc." By using shorthand we become less worried about others seeing what we are internally thinking about. If you are interested in taking part of this experiment you can join the group i created at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DailyAffirmations2Success/ As I said, i think it would be a good idea if everyone uses "anonymous ids" and "short hand notation" and please only join if you are serious about doing this for at least 21 days (don't have to post on weekends BUT must do the affirmations on paper...using scouts honor policy). I am hoping to start this in the next few days; Monday would be ideal date so each one of us starts of on the same day. Hope you join me. Hope we are successful. lol. In order to join the group you are going to need to create a yahoo id (one more time...make it an anonymous id to let your guard down)...here's the page to create an id on yahoo: http://edit.yahoo.com/config/eval_register?.intl=us&new=1&.done=http%3a//www.yahoo.com&.src=www&.v=0&.u=eca75t4vdvfeg&partner=&.p=&promo=&.last= One final thing, the group will NOT BE A DISCUSSION GROUP. It will only be for affirmation work. The only exception would be posts about making affirmations more effective or inspirational stories found on the net. This way we don't get side tracked into other discussions...besides Rebecca has already created a great forum for us...so the group will be focused on affirmations only. -David ps. Sorry Rebecca for such a long post lol. [This message was edited by muse_seeker on June 06, 2003 at 02:28 PM.] |

When you sign up to the group you'll see that you'll need to be approved to be part of the group. Don't worry everyone can join, I only made it that way so that no one can join the group except those who see this message.
Like I said I'd like to begin on Monday, so I'll approve everyone who joins in the next few days. In the mean time, please read up about affirmations on the net. Here's some starting pts: http://www.effectivequestions.com http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=affirmations http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=affirmations+and+success Just to get the group started on the path to success i think following is warranted. oign. oso. osorsrkskvn. oign. oso. osorsrkskvn. oign. oso. osorsrkskvn. eotjtgwbsigwtwawtn. eotjtgwbsigwtwawtn. eotjtgwbsigwtwawtn. |

This has definitely got my attention, but exactly how are these shorthand affirmations supposed to help others out when they have no idea what they stand for. Or does everyone just send out positive vibrations for everyone who posts?

quote: Hi; lol I think you are right even though the shorthand version works well for me in the real world (ie. posting shorthand version around the computer...mirror...other places that serve as reminders) is useful it might not be ideal for posting to a group...so we might be better off using long versions...which is ok with me. >does everyone just send out positive vibrations >for everyone who posts? yes that is the idea but mainly its an experiment in seeing if sending out the affirmations to the outside world where others will see what we are seeking would help us in receiving what we want. |

You and I are definitely on the same wavelength, even though we don't know each other.
I am working on a post for another forum that I will post here on "Thinking Correctly can be Hard Work", and I was just running through Scott's technique as I opened this thread. I think I originally read Scott's technique in a magazine article. Being a Dilbert fan, I was obviously waiting for the punch line - and it never came! I guess this stuff really works. Kent F. |
